  1. I'm all for betting on traits instead of production, but this guy lacks serious traits outside of straight-line speed, RAC, and height.
  2. There's a difference between weaving through DBs after the catch and breaking off sharp in-breaking routes and comebacks (necessary for >50% of an effective route tree). I'm glad you said "weaving" ... that accurately describes what he does well and it's bad for clean route runners. He plays "high waisted" meaning he can't snap off a comeback route or sell an effective double-move. Show me one highlight where he does this and I'll think otherwise. Watch this route closely and you can see the problem. A subpar DB is all over him because he doesn't respect a fast comeback.
  3. Not a first round prospect. In the clips posted... or really any of his highlights, take a look at his stride length. That's a very good thing for straight line speed (i.e. 40 time) but horrible for short and intermediate routes. Any scout will tell you the same. Unpolished routes and can't get in and out of his breaks quickly: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/christian-watson/32005741-5431-6591-b680-d3a3d3536d62 https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/christian-watson https://www.profootballnetwork.com/christian-watson-ndsu-wr-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/ That limits him to posts and go-routes to find his production. He also doesn't pluck the ball out of the air. More of a body catcher, which you hate to see. Still valuable, but not 1st round valuable. Like DK Metcalf without the power. He would be a good long-ball guy short term and a decent gamble late 2nd round if he can develop his short-intermediate game.
  4. I would be shocked if they trade Poyer. Why destroy the best thing going in your secondary when you have zero backup? We could survive trading Stef if we replace him with a first round WR, a solid vet, and another WR.
  5. Anybody saying Chase Young has not been paying attention to Chase Young. He had 1.5 sacks total last year and was consistently out of position and a legit liability on the field…. and you guys think he’s the BEST young player in the NFL? No.
  6. Never have we seen so much crow eaten in one offseason. From the “is Beane sleeping?” to “we won’t make a splash” to “oh great, now we can’t get X” …we’ve seen it all. Thought it might be fun to collectively admit where Beane dunked on each of us this off-season. I’ll go first. I thought Bates not getting a 2nd round tender was a HUGE mistake and it turned out to possibly be the catalyst to the Bears gifting us a kind deal. Your turn.
  7. I’ll take your season tickets if they’re up for sale. A thousand bucks isn’t going to keep me from going to games for the rest of my life.
  8. We should throw a dart at Safety with great athletic traits in round 5-7. Apart from that, I'd rather see CB, WR, and OG addressed once if not twice in the top 4 rounds. We have issues with the STARTERS at those positions in addition to limited depth.
  9. I’m surprised you don’t see it with Drake. He will go too 20 and we’ll be insane not to take him if he somehow gets to 25. Look at Evans college highlights vs London college highlights. Very similar style and the idea is that London will fill out and add muscle under a pro weight conditioning regimen. I’ll be shocked if he’s not a star WR in 2-3 years.
  10. Wouldn’t mind using our 2nd and 4th on CBs… something like that. If we like a guy, we should strike early and often. Need to be able to line up against 4-wide and 5-wide effectively. 1st and 3rd on WR or OG.
  11. Honestly, that’s a pretty fair offer….
  12. A second round tender would have cost $3.98M. The right of first refusal tender costs $2.4M. That is not a large amount and if they thought he’d get offers and expected him to be a starter or capable backup, $1.5M for assurance is not a lot. Roll your eyes all you want. It was a bad move, likely driven by bad intel from the O-Line coach.
  13. How do you not tender him at a 2nd round level? Add this to the list of horrific talent evaluations on the O-Line while Bobby Johnson was coach. Beane was clearly getting bad info because the market LOVES Bates.
  14. Jones >>>> Phillips If you want us to have a good run defense, it's a good thing we signed Jones over Phillips.
  15. 1. We don't have enough money for Gilmore. 2. We don't want Gilmore. 3. Von Miller isn't "13 seconds" ... what? I hate it when people distill an entire game down to one or two mistakes. We lost that game because we sucked on defense the entire game, including overtime.
  16. I think this tells a really interesting story. Von Miller's contract is effectively a 3-year $17.5M/yr deal. Past 3 years of Bills Defensive Ends and what they were paid: 2021: Jerry Hughes: $9.45M Mario Addison: $8.1M Rousseau ~$2M Basham ~$1M Epenesa ~$1M 2020: Mario Addison: $9.97M Trent Murphy: $9.78M Jerry Hughes: $9.5M Epenesa ~1M 2019: Jerry Hughes: $12.9M Trent Murphy: $8.8M Shaq Lawson: $3.2M Pairing Von with Rousseau, Basham, and Epenesa not only upgrades the position, but actually decreases our total edge rusher spending as well.
  17. That's a very easy "yes" for a few reasons: 1. The Bills had 1 TE active on game day for the second half of 2021 out of NEED. Tommy Sweeney was awful. 2. There are rumors that Ken Dorsey prefers two TE sets. 3. With OJ Howard joining the team, we have two capable blockers and catchers, which helps the offense be "multiple."
  18. So... who says we would be creating a hole at linebacker? Miles Jack just got 2 years $16M total. We're paying Edmunds 1yr $12M. You think we would replace that $12M salary with nobody? Or, do you think Bobby Wagner, Joe Schobert, Anthony Hitchens, Dont'a Hightowner, etc. will want more than $12M/yr? The only reason to not trade Edmunds is thinking you can't sign a replacement or you can't get a good enough pick for him.
  19. As much as you guys are gonna hate this… Draft a WR in the 1st and hope to ride the next two years out, then move on when he turns 30. Can’t keep paying everyone $20M/Yr+ and this draft is really talented at WR.
  20. The case for WR: "You never want to lose your fastball" Depth Chart Losses: WR1: Diggs WR2: Sanders WR3: Beasley WR4: Davis WR5: McKenzie WR6: Jake Kumerow WR7: Isaiah Hodgins WR8: Tanner Gentry Best WR left in Free Agency: Odell Beckham - torn ACL Jarvis Landry JuJu Smith-Schuster Marques Valdes-Scantling TY Hilton Jamison Crowder Sammy Watkins Will Fuller Keelan Cole AJ Green Emannuel Sanders The case for CB: "Questionable starters and lack of certainty in Tre White's return" CB1: Tre White - hopeful return week 6-10 CB2: Levi Wallace Nickel: Taron Johnson CB3: Dane Jackson CB4: Siran Neal CB5: Cam Lewis CB6: Olaijah Griffin CB7: Nick McCloud Best CB left in Free Agency: Stephon Gilmore Tyrann Mathieu (CB/S) Jackrabbit Jenkins Donte Jackson Steven Nelson Patrick Peterson Bryce Callahan Joe Haden Robert Alford AJ Bouye "BPA" is the easy answer, but given equally talented players at both positions, which would you pick to address first?
  21. I would be worried if the Vikings didn’t have $1.7M in cap space and basically no restructure moves left.
  22. Well, good thing we're getting Tre White back and drafting a CB in the first 1-2 rounds and probably more late.
  23. why give up a 2nd and 6th round pick when you don’t have to….
  24. Reminds me of the John Brown move. Loved Beasley, but he’s getting older, he’s expensive, and Josh gave him better numbers than he ever had in his lifetime. A young guy will be even better.
  25. Deshaun Watson was raised in Gainesville, Georgia. 1 hour drive from Clemson where he played college ball. 1 hour drive from Atlanta and he grew up rooting for the Falcons. Born in 1995 -- Mike Vick was with the Falcons 2001-2006. Wonder where this mobile QB with a rocket arm drew his inspiration from? I never really connected these dots until this moment.... it's gotta be a done deal for the Falcons.
