  1. We have a gaping hole at CB? You know we drafted Elam in the 1st last year and Tre White is fully healthy, while Taron Johnson is one of the best Nickel corners in the league and there's even better depth now with Benford and Dane Jackson as great #4 and #5 options. What exactly does Beane need to do better there?
  2. Loved him as a person and locker room guy and will always remember that Patriots game. A few unforgivable dropped passes, a few unforgivable dropped returns, and just not enough of a consistent impact. We're all rooting for him and hoping for the best, but this move made a lot of sense.
  3. The piece you’re missing here is if the player is actually good and believes in himself, he’s not going to sign a cheap long term deal when he doesn’t have to. That plan can also backfire horrifically. What deal would you have given Edmunds 2 years ago when he had proven nothing? It’s an unnecessary risk for both the player and the GM. You’re also missing some signings this year apparently as well. McGovern is very much an upside pick on a long term deal. Same with Harty. Beane is going above market in year 1 so he can potentially get a steal in the later years. That’s exactly what he did with Poyer and Hyde too. I appreciate the thought you put into this, but it was a big miss.
  4. Did you create this thread just to argue with people? You’re not understanding my point. His skill set provides nothing that the team wouldn’t have by adding a power back and playing Cook in tandem. There are limited roster spots available and if he doesn’t even play special teams, there is zero reason to sign him.
  5. I’d be shocked at this point if he does. What value does he bring to our team? He’s not a special teamer. He’s not a good short yardage back. He’s not a great pass blocker. He’s not big enough to wear down defenses. There a loads of guys who can do these things VERY well and THAT is the skill set we need. If we re-sign Singletary, is the idea that we would have Cook, Singletary, Hines AND a power back in the backfield or do you just not want a power back on the team? It seems like a bad fit. Say what you want about the player, but we don’t need his skill set.
  6. Can’t say I didn’t warn you!
  7. All-in implies that you get one shot, then you’re screwed if it doesn’t work out. That sounds like horrific team building.
  8. Something to consider, as Edmunds is now the #1 highest paid player at his position (ILB). This counts as a 3rd round pick in the comp pick formula. All we have to do is sign less unrestricted free agents than we lose to gain it.
  9. This was an interesting watch... I wonder if McGovern is Mitch Morse insurance too with the concussion history:
  10. "Up to $7.5M" over 3 years. These details matter. The guaranteed money is about $4M. So ... you have an issue with a good punter getting between $1.3M and a maximum of $2.3M per year?
  11. Welcome back to the best punter we've had on the team in a long time! https://billswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/13/buffalo-bills-agree-terms-re-sign-sam-martin/
  12. I feel like Sam Martin deserves a separate post compared to the Debbie Downer Matakevich extension. Sam Martin was the best Punter we've had on the team in a long time. VERY happy he's back.
  13. You lost me at: ”Line? Henry it’s going to be fine.” Imagine for a moment thinking that a running back solves your pass blocking and run blocking issues…
  14. Can we please just keep this thread about Milano? This is a great win for him and the team. Don’t make this another Tremaine Edmunds thread.
  15. Personally, I think you might get more value out of a round 1 WR. IOL will take a year or two to develop, then best case you have a $10M-$15M guard. WR you could get a day 1 contributor at one of the highest paid positions. Save Free Agency money for Guard and draft your value guys.
  16. Is anybody mad about this? I’m have nooo problem with journalists propping up his perceived value. Ok, so best case scenario he has one good season, then what? If you trade him for a draft pick you might get similar production AND actually have a future.
  17. What is with this obsession of moving every good tackle to guard? Every time we get a good tackle in the building, the thought process goes “yes he’s good at tackle, but he’d be a GREAT guard” … we don’t know if he’d be good, we don’t know if he’d be willing to do it, and we DO know he’s an above average starter at one of the most important positions in the league. Im gonna start calling this “drought mentality.” Dont have “drought mentality.”
  18. Andre Reed… hall of famer drafted in the 4th round. Kyle Williams … all-pro drafted in the 5th round and possibly a hall of famer on a team that didn’t suck so bad. Taron Johnson, Dawson Knox, Gabe Davis… all late round guys who will make $10M+. It’s luck and we’ve been fine. We drafted a top 3 QB and several other great players and are knocking on the door of the Super Bowl every year.
  19. How do the Dolphins have such similar draft capital to us when they have no first round pick and five total picks?
  20. Am I the only person who would be totally fine with this? Jets take on a massive contract and probably have to give up at least one first round pick. Rodgers didn't look great last year and seems to be a total headcase these days. Seems like a recipe for disaster with the Jets just as they are beginning to build momentum. I'd love that.
  21. Which is why when I hear people talking about paying Edmunds $20M/yr., I politely seek to dig a hole and bury myself inside of it.
  22. When I think to myself "who sets the tone on defense?" it's a very easy answer. Inside linebacker. Do we pay $20M per season on a great coverage linebacker who is "ok" against the run? Or, do we draft a nasty linebacker who hits hard and shoots gaps and spend that $20M on Offensive/Defensive linemen to explode the pocket? Easy answer for me and if McDermott actually wants a "nastier edge" this is the route he'll go.
  23. Can we delete this thread and start over? It's really weird to be thanking Jordan Poyer and also saying "you deserve better" in the original post. He went from depth player on the Browns to starter and all-pro on a perennial playoff contender. He was surrounded by players he loved. The Bills did perfectly fine by him and now he's set up for a big payday.
  24. A few reasons to like this: 1) Because he was cut, he doesn't count against the comp pick formula. Not a free agent. We need as many of those as we can get if we want to recoup a nice 3rd and/or 4th round pick for losing Edmunds and Hyde. 2) The exact type of runner we need. Good in pass pro, experienced, good in short yardage. 3) "Been there before" attitude. Played his best ball in the playoffs and won the SB. A rare time in which I'll shout the proverbial know-nothing phrase of GIT ER DONE BEANE!
  25. They’ll promote someone internally and it’ll be the same bend but don’t break, vanilla defense. This is McDermott’s defense, he just needs a straw man to run it. I’m not being defeatist, that’s just what it is.
