  1. The primary reason I want Hopkins is it allows us to flip Gabe Davis for a draft pick. We simply wouldn’t need him and could get and extra 4th or perhaps even a 3rd. Get something now because we can’t afford him next year. If we sign Hopkins and Davis is NOT traded, your offense looks like this: WR1: Diggs Slot: Shakir and Harty TE1: Knox TE2: Kincaid WR2: Hopkins, Davis, Sherfield, Shorter In that scenario you’re carrying 7 capable WR and plan on running a lot of 2TE sets… so 4 of them rarely see the field… and Davis doesn’t help you on ST. Personally, I’d love to see what we have in Shorter and Sherfield on the rare instances we need a pure deep ball guy and then use our extra 3rd or 4th from Davis on a long term WR2 solution. In this scenario, next year we would potentially have 3 third round picks to load up at WR and an upgrade this year in Hopkins.
  2. Remember when all the armchair GMs on this board were offering a 2nd round pick for him and chastising anyone who said that’s ridiculous given his contract? Where are you guys now?
  3. I’ll probably sign out of the thread after this last comment, because it’s clear you’re set on being negative about the 2023 roster. Why on earth are you adding Jameson Crowder into this comparison when he didn’t even play in 2022? Unless your assumption is that Harty, Shorter, and Sherfield will get injured they simply have to be an upgrade to a player who didn’t play. You’re also for some reason accounting for zero growth from Cook and Shakir and calling that a push as well. No problem if you think Gabe doesn’t benefit from another year, but you really think two rookies who got better as the season went on won’t continue to grow this year? Man… we really can’t have nice things around this place.
  4. This seems pretty needlessly negative... You don't think WR was improved? It's the same players, but they added Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield, with Shakir and Davis having more experience under their belt. How is that not better? Do you think Isaiah McKenzie is better than Deonte Harty? And that's expecting nothing from Justin Shorter. How is RB a push? Damien Harris is an actual short distance running back and 3rd down pass protector. We didn't even have that last year. It also shouldn't be understated that James Cook will have a significantly bigger role this year, which is a good thing, as he doesn't have the speed and pass catching limitations we experienced with Singletary. Totally fine if you don't think this is a better team overall compared to last year, but saying WR and RB are a push or haven't improved seems very negative.
  5. This is kind of an odd thing to say. You really don’t believe front offices are doing deep diligence on late round picks? It’s well known at this point that “several” teams took Araiza off their board because of legal trouble rumors. He was a great prospect and someone will sign him, as long as he’s mentally ready for that and has his legal troubles settled first.
  6. In related news, we don't get comp picks when Rex Ryan gets another shot as well. Any other lackluster head coaching candidates we should cover?
  7. Very cool. -nobody
  8. Breaking news: Guy with consistently horrible takes just to get attention has a horrible take just to get attention.
  9. Word on the street is he's been going to various concerts, sporting events, and theater productions. All of those reps clapping at the end of performances are going to work wonders when the season begins and he is relied upon to use his patented clapping motion to clap touchdowns from Josh Allen. 100% true story from an insider who you don't know, so don't ask.
  10. DaQuon Jones did a better job of this than any Bills DT the past 10 seasons.
  11. This signing makes me more certain we’re gonna try Bernard at MLB. You need big DT’s if you’re gonna use small LBs who struggle to disengage blockers.
  12. This. If you don't like this signing, you don't know the biggest issue with Harris. His health. We need a backup in case he goes down. Otherwise, the short distance running back would be be Nyheim Hines or James Cook.
  13. For me, I think this team still needs a nice DT and DE for the rotation. After that, I feel very confident in the team, but wouldn’t say there was ever a “gap.”
  14. The poll results are hilarious. Nobody has any idea. I sure hope McDermott does because this is the 2nd year in a row he’s getting his guy with a third rounder to address the linebacker position.
  15. We’ve got a pretty interesting normal distribution curve here that averages out to about a B+. Feels right, given the uncertainty after rd 2.
  16. Let’s see what you all think! Would love to hear your explanations below as well. I’m going B+ as I love the scheme versatility we’re getting on Offense and it feels like we became a significantly better short yardage team over night. A few points dinged off by some very “meh” middle round picks.
  17. I’ve seen a few people suggest this and the practical implication is that Taron Johnson would not play in base defensive sets. So we’d pay a $10M/yr elite nickel corner to not play.
  18. Did somebody say “body transformation” ??? ::McDermott breathing intensifies::
  19. Maybe two Terrel Bernards = one decent linebacker. Can they tape themselves together?
  20. Or… Hold on… Let me see if I can figure out how to do this… Hmm… Trade down?
  21. Do you guys even bother to research this stuff or do you just make something up and assume the worst? 2019 Draft: 1st round: Marquise Brown, N'Keal Harry... no other WRs 2nd round: Deebo Samuel, AJ Brown, Mecole Hardman, DK Metcalf 3rd round: Diontae Johnson, Terry McLaurin
  22. Why am I seeing this loser mentality in every thread? It's ok if you want to trade for DeAndre Hopkins or if you feel Beane has a bad track record in the 2nd round ... but multiple threads have these snarky little comments like "oh boy, can't wait to get another AJ Epenesa this year!!" Every GM misses draft picks... but look at WR's drafted in the 2nd round in the past 4 years alone: - Deebo Samuel - AJ Brown - DK Metcalf - Diontae Johnson - Tee Higgins - Michael Pittman - Chase Claypool - Elijah Moore - Christian Watson Again, totally fine if you like the certainty of trading for Hopkins, but acting like 2nd round picks are "overrated" is insane. Imagine having any of those guys above for cheap across from Diggs for the next 4 years. Now, imagine using the $20M/yr Hopkins is due on a DE/DT/OG/etc. from Free Agency... in ADDITION to still having Deebo, Brown, Higgins, etc. THAT is why 2nd round picks are valuable. Drop the "we never get it right :(" attitude and try a little optimism. 👍
  23. Let’s look at WR drafted in the 2nd round the past few years… AJ Brown, Deebo Samuel, Tee Higgins, DK Metcalf, George Pickens … I’m sure there are more. Are we really going to pretend that the only way to get an all-pro WR is to trade away our draft picks to get one? Or is it that you guys are completely done with Beane and think he can’t find us a good WR? This is insane.
