  1. Owed $17M per year for the next 4 seasons. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/christian-mccaffrey-21749/ Why on earth would we trade a first for McCaffrey when we can sign any RB we want for that kind of money. That's $2M/yr more than Derrick Henry and Alvin Kamara and way more than Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon.
  2. My counter-point is that punt length isn't the only trait you're looking for in great punters. Both Haack and Bojo were terrible at "coffin corner" punting. When you pin an offense inside their 1-3 yard line, that's usually an immediate stop and good field position for your team. It's way more important than the net 4 yards you mentioned. Bojo and Haack would almost always sail it into the end zone.
  3. I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but I actually agree with this logic. Matt "Punt God" Araiza would be as close to a sure thing as you could get. Araiza is also a pretty good place kicker, so there's your backup to Bass in case of injury as well. The top 3 punters in the league make almost $4M/yr and their teams never let them go. They are game changers. Using a 4th would sting a bit, but I'd do it. He likely won't be around in the 5th-7th.
  4. By that logic, every regular season game would go into overtime. But they don't. The more time that goes by, the more fair the game is because every team has multiple chances. Just like every other major sport.
  5. A lot of grumpy old men in this thread. Change isn't always bad fellas. Ask yourself... does the team that wins the coin toss have a significant advantage over the team that doesn't? If so, why would you give a significant advantage to a team based on a coin flip when you don't have to?
  6. I did not suggest overpaying for an RB or not overpaying for an RB. I just thought the idea of the Giants giving picks to offload Saquon's contract is a ridiculous proposition. Two years ago he was one of the brightest stars in the entire league and he's still on his rookie deal.
  7. So... you really think the Giants are going to GIVE picks for Saquon Barkley? The #2 overall pick, who ran for over 1,000 yards his first two years... is going to be traded for NEGATIVE PICKS because he was injured the last two years and has an "Albatross" contract of $7.2M? If you don't like the guy, fine... but what you're proposing is ridiculous. He's getting paid $1M less than Kenyan Drake and $1M more than Chris Carson. It's not a huge contract.
  8. You must not have looked at the poll... or looked at Spotrac. $7.2M for one season. That's not an "albatross" and it isn't comparable to Brock Osweiler at all.
  9. Joe Shoen remarked at the combine today that he's open to anything when it comes to Saquon Barkley. The Bills certainly have the Beane-Shoen connection going for them. What would you trade?
  10. *Consummate. I'm guessing the twitter guy got it wrong. Otherwise, he probably would have used quotes.
  11. I would love it if he joins the division. Sure, the games would be harder, but we would finally get a shot at him at full strength. To be the best, you gotta beat the best.
  12. If you think it's ok to attack women under any circumstance, then I got nothin for ya bud. I don't really care what the police said. Call it virtue signaling if you want, but a guy rushing toward a woman and kicking her in the head is not my cup of tea.
  13. This is the guy you want? https://www.tmz.com/videos/0-exjrtvg5/ "Never charged with a crime" ... come on. If you're fine with compromising on character, at least admit it.
  14. An unlikely, but nightmare scenario would be KC trading future picks for another stud WR, then using their picks and $11M for more O-Line and D-Line.
  15. Colts with Rodgers would be more dangerous. Imagine that running game and defense with a competent QB.
  16. A lot of people somehow missing the point here... The existing poll and existing thread don't put any parameters on what a "trade" or "extension" mean. So every thread has devolved into "HE SUCKS, DONT EXTEND HIM" or "TRADE 4 PICKS" That's not what this thread is. It's a realistic hypothetical and plenty of people are answering, so enjoy it, or go cry somewhere else.
  17. You must have missed my note in bold at the bottom. This is a hypothetical with a poll - if you don't like it, please feel free to visit another topic.
  18. 1) Re-sign at $12M/yr: The top 10 ILB's in the NFL make between $10.5M and $20M. Most would argue Edmunds should be toward the bottom on a new deal. 2) Trade for a 3rd Round Pick: If a 1st/2nd is offered, I think that might be an easy decision. So lets say it's a 3rd. GM's likely won't offer a no-brainer trade. His full $12.7M salary is released w/ zero dead cap. 3) Let him walk: You get Edmunds this year at $12.7M. When he walks, you might get a 3rd round comp pick back if he's paid highly in Free Agency. *Note* I know this discussion has been made in other topics, but the poll should be interesting.
  19. I always thought he was more GOPGDLMDT. Get Open Please God Dont Let Me Drop This
  20. Cam Akers came back from a torn achilles this season and was great. D'Onta Foreman came back from a torn achilles this season and was great. Medical technology has come a long way the past several years. Mack has had plenty of time to recover... it could be a steal.
  21. He's not just a special teamer. He played 140 snaps on defense last year. For comparison, Matakevich played 40. They also play completely different positions on ST and Defense...
  22. He skipped all of the voluntary practices in 2021 after sitting out in 2020. He wasn't in contact with anyone from the team during that time period either.
  23. Thanks bud. You're telling a story to yourself. Nobody is mentioning stats about Star and everyone knows what a 1-tech's responsibility is. What word would you prefer for me to use other than "production" to explain that he was slowly phased out of the defense last year? Look at his snap counts. Even Brandon Beane agreed that Star struggled last year. It's insane that you're comparing Tre White, a team captain who injured himself on the field, to a guy who chose to sit out a whole year, then skipped voluntary mini camps, and was never, ever named captain a single year of his career. My guess is you're going to blame covid for everything. He skipped voluntary mini camps because of covid and skipped 2020 because of covid and got phased out of the defense because of covid ... at what point does he have to take responsibility for getting worse and getting old?
  24. He skipped all of voluntary mini camp after opting out of the 2020 season. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/bills-mailbag-how-concerning-is-star-lotuleleis-absence-from-otas/article_08cbfe3a-bfe6-11eb-a435-4fc09247df5b.html
  25. Most of us understand that he opted out of 2020 completely which left us completely unprepared at 1-tech, then he skipped most of camp, then wasn't available for large parts of 2021... in addition to being severely overpaid for his production. This is a fine topic. Let's get back to it. One loophole Beane might exploit w/ Star (heard this on a podcast) is that the $2.5M is guaranteed only if he attends 2022 camp. They can use this as a bargaining chip if Star wants to retire and doesn't want to go through camp -- he might be willing to negotiate on his way out and the Bills can restructure the $2.5M in a creative way to free up more 2022 cap.
