  1. that something has happened once in all of existence doesn’t define a market
  2. the best guaranteed dollars would’ve been the ones he would’ve already been paid, right? he’s essentially passed on tens of millions to try to guarantee tens of millions in 5 years that he’s very likely to be paid either way. It’s terrible.
  3. or hop is waiting for what he wants
  4. so far that ego you share is costing him money he will never get back. he may be well served to pay more attention to his own house instead of trying to outdo his neighbor. He’d not only likely be wealthier but also happier. His choice though.
  5. it’s a 2 year deal at the moment. Longevity of that is a big consideration on whether it truly impacts team building or is just coming from the shiny toy fund
  6. hopkins is a big risk on a big contract and rumored for a 5th because of his contract/age/risk, so it’s really gabe for Simmons at that point if you buy the rumored first half
  7. so nearly a quarter of the league are front runners? Insightful. also rebuilds can be VERY quick. Aw shucks, a wild card year mixed into his career somewhere? And then back to contending if we don’t blow the draft?
  8. generally, sure. A 100m contract isn’t selling your house without a realtor.
  9. nope. Spreading this years 19 over 5amd then when you void the 3 dropping 15 into 2025 so something like 5m salary plus $5m hit $15m dead. I don’t think that’s the solution but would be the most aggressive option short term
  10. Just tell him not to post any pics holding his Hopkins & Allen gun.
  11. Has he posted any Mr bean gifs? Will we get a goo goo dolls song?!?
  12. I’ll say, I’m no expert on crypto but stellar is among my larger chunks.
  13. I don’t know that you will find much opposition that everyone failed that day. Heck, throw in equipment managers too with how much worse the players footing seemed to be. it was a full collapse. We can debate whether 60-40 on players vs coaches or the other way around but I think essentially every single person agrees there’s a lot of accountability to go around.
  14. I know it was a novel event but also at some point it maybe shouldn’t totally derail a team? I really don’t know. Given the hindsight of damar potentially coming back to play next year it makes me wonder about other possible paths through the situation. I’ll never say that they got it wrong, but I do wonder about how other approaches could’ve played out. ie what if they quickly pushed into win for Damar instead of sitting in the space they did.
  15. I think it’s pretty mainstream that the team was completely flat and out of gas. There have been thousands of posts about hitting the wall after all the adversity of the season
  16. WR is a catastrophic need real fast if Davis doesn’t step up. And even if he does we may need a replacement quickly unless you think we are paying him. this is the year to make the position a strength so you can live without him either way
  17. he’s flashed a ton of talent. To be a top 5 or so back in the league would still be a very large jump. To scale his productivity into 3 times as many carries wouldn’t be a fair expectation. He could certainly be that guy but it’s not a small step to take. my only pause is that I do believe Davis was more injured than thought. He was slow, and lacking agility. And he never was a burner so losing a step isn’t something he can afford. that said he was still making some odd decisions and didn’t seem to be playing particularly qb friendly ball even if you sped up his game.
  18. You’ll catch hell but unless cook or Davis make a big jump it’s hard to say any position group is solidly excellent. There’s a lot of decent. Not much great or terrible.
  19. zeke as a cut is a great example. motor eliminating a comp pick or zeke plus a pick for Edmonds? if the dollars are even close give me zeke plus a 3 instead of motor, right? feel free to sub in other non qualifying backs
  20. yup. And if it’s big body and a 3rd or motor - the answer could become clear quickly. even drafting a guy mid round would be essentially free at that point and save some cap.
  21. If we target a non qualifying back, we could be talking essentially trading motor for a third by letting him walk. Most would be ok with it in those terms.
  22. hopefully it says that the rookie and the guy traded for at thanksgiving are ready to surpass what he gave us previously in the upcoming season
  23. the red flag on slowing down is getting popped for performance enhancers I’m a big fan of his play but he’s a big question mark going forward in his 30s and being tested frequently
  24. they weren’t as big as nearly any of the other bands discussed. They certainly weren’t influential in a way that moved music or opened doors. You’d really have to make the mountain quite wide to justify them in the image with any confidence they really belonged by any criteria someone could come up with. that’s not to say anything is wrong with them. Carving out a commercially successful career is a huge accomplishment. Not reinventing the wheel here but… nirvana and PJ probably have to be there regardless of if they are anyone’s favorite. also likely need something heavier from Rage, NIN, korn then you stumble into STP, soundgarden, AIC, RHCP, smashing pumpkins the two heavies not selected above, Radiohead, oasis, a variety of poppy punk stuff I didn’t love -Green Day, blink, offspring etc… - poppy rock like no doubt…. Sublime. Getting towards Goo Goo dolls, you probably have to pass up counting crows as a bigger and more noteworthy in the same vein. Maybe could argue who would win in a fight between hootie, GGD and matchbox 20, right? and that leaves off a bulk of the multi decade bands like U2, REM, Metallica, Pantera, GNR Heck it even ignores blur, garbage, black Crowes, sonic youth, Jane’s addiction, faith no more, Manson… I hate to say it but there’s probably an argument that kid rock or Fred dursts face belong on it as the bookend closing out the decade. it’s incredibly difficult to come up with a criteria where you pull GGD out of that list as the absolute cream of the crop.
