  1. Also a fair take- just using it as a rarer talent than RB they passed that would pair with LB if letting that one slide in unchanged. I get there’s no singular way but to turn 6 and 18 into a running back, off the ball lb and safety is rough even if those guys are likable players.
  2. carter went ahead of them because they traded back. They could’ve gotten a top ten player.
  3. I guess a reframe- would the following have been better team building: keep hockenson- proven starter instead of hopeful prospect to contribute draft Jalen Carter (not trade up for a DT later) draft jack Campbell to play behind carter sign one (or two!) of several RBs for dirt cheap. Use their day two picks however they please.
  4. counter: had a viable run game, instead took a back. Ignoring overdrafting the slot, it’s a cash issue. You hit on a back you get a modest value. You hit on a premiere position you save 100m on a rookie contract potentially. That matters, alpha. campbell, fine-ish in a vacuum. Not great, not as horrific as running back, akin to taking a guard instead of a tackle in the top 20. Giving away some value but not needing to be a hall of fame player to justify the finances. traded hock after going through his development and he entered his prime only draft his store brand replacement with the pick. Fail. branch - fine pick. Good safety at the top of the second is fine. Though another second tier position. hooker- if he hits, sure changes the conversation but quite the long shot. it’s easy to collect top second tier position players when you have massive draft capital. You need game changers at premiere positions in a draft position like they had.
  5. then you get into the terrible value for 5th year options. Second contract issues. and most importantly the fact that you are not saving any money on the rookie contract. Good but not even great WR pick or good pass rusher or tackle or? Saves the lions 100M they can spend on free agents. Rb pick? Has to be pretty good to break even and a beast to show even minimal value.
  6. obviously Edmonds does.
  7. and not even the top back In the class.
  8. Amazed by the lions chatter here
  9. Camp qb to call it a day?
  10. he will fight for a practice squad spot, which is fine here.
  11. welcome to the practice squad
  12. yea, I’m struggling to find anything but camp bodies when comparing availability vs roster so May as well push back
  13. with our most impactful defensive player substantially injured, and our mlb unreplaced, you are pointing out Rapp. Would you agree our defense, on paper, is worse today than last year (with the hope that tre can close that gap some by closing the gap from his play post injury to pre injury)((but also risk in Hyde coming back and poyer holding up)) ? would you say that there were talks of Oliver being a game changer, and Rousseau being a game changer, and Elam being a plug and play starting corner?
  14. I mean, have fun with it if that’s what makes you happy but maybe don’t solicit opinions if not wanting opinions
  15. who is left out there that had visits?
  16. Plus a tight end and running back that could sit in the WR room. We could go 5 active and extra practice squad presence at the position
  17. points of information: No one in the league found him to be starting quality for their team this year, so he’s a backup with experience more aptly described Kincaid could be a game changer. How many games did Oliver, Elam or Rousseau change their rookie years? Kincaids slotted up to be a role playing package player. I like him a lots but his year one contribution has a wide range. How many total catches are you projecting in your gamechanger forecast for him for instance?
  18. The MLB drop off is substantial VM acl is a massive hit. Just huge. poyer and Hyde a year older morse on shakier footing I’ll say I was much higher on tre coming back elite this time last year. And inevitably on April it’s easy to celebrate sherfield rapp and Harty. We did it with crowder, saffold and oj Howard. it’s real easy to be in the honeymoon phase now, and forget that you had the honeymoon phase with all your exes also
  19. a dynamic WR is a more valuable player but it seems they had a practical plan, with solid baked in contingencies I agree with their seeming rank of: get the best wr secure the last guy worth the round move back reasonably
  20. you should probably compare it to last April with a healthy Hyde, and healthy Miller and healthy DTs then, unless you want to project our injuries this year to be comparable to who was active in December/January. To compare last years worst version with this years best version is disingenuous
  21. plenty of those guys are pass catchers. If there are about 4500 yards and 35 or so TDs to go around I think he’s 4-500 and 5 of those. Knox similar. Davis close to 1k, diggs closer to 14-1500, and the remainder of the depth guys and backs for 1000
  22. Come day 3 I’m totally ok swinging for the fences on talent. If they don’t make it, so be it.
  23. just a bummer to be on the back side of that window now and never taken the swing for the fences. probably still get one at some point just playing the odds but it’ll be harder. you don’t think there will be any injuries this year, eh?
  24. depends on the issue and their skill guys can absolutely come off though depends on the issue and their skill guys can absolutely come off though that tackle with the ***** issue a few years back comes to mind as a prospect that became fully untouchable for 32 teams. But surely it happens for subsets on different less extreme issues
  25. real talk, not as enthused as I could be. I’ve been amongst the louder add a pass catcher or pass rusher voices in the off-season (or mid season) since year two of the Josh era. I think you have to push chips on the table to maximize your windows when the are fully open. that said, I have real mixed feelings about this season and the current roster construction. We will always have a chance with Josh and I can write a narrative that gets to hoisting the trophy but I think this may be our worst positioning in several years. We underachieved some opportunities, but they could overachieve this year and take it. Just not sure it’s our ideal spot to push chips in now in general. I also am not sure about Hopkins specifically. Older, and coming off PEDs is a major question mark. Also creates a roster management question with potentially losing Davis at end of 23, and not knowing Hopkins future contribution for 24. I think I’m resigned to hoping Davis gets healthy and balls out a bit, brown gets healthy at RT, nyheim and cook get dynamic and if we make a trade it’s either a younger WR for a long term Davis replacement (Denver added another, is jeudy actually on the market now) or an impactful defender on a short deal with no VM til mid season and everything but safety having question marks.
