Devin Singletary unlikely to play per Rapaport
Magox replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It won't reflect poorly on Beane because he has shown time and time again that he has made lots of good moves for this team. His reservoir of good will with the fanbase and more importantly ownership is high. Also, who knows what happened behind the scenes, remember how many people were upset with the Incognito deal? There was more to it than what people knew until Incognito made the public aware. Not to mention that Shady's play last year not only had he visibly dropped off but in just about every advanced metric he was near the bottom of the league. Yeldon is not going to tear it up running the ball but what he will do aside from catch passes really well is pass protect and he pass protects well. Yeldon is the 3rd back on the rotation and I have a feeling that Shady would not have wanted to be the 3rd back on the team. Do you? -
You may possibly be right, the encouraging thing about Josh is that he seems to be improving on just about all his weaknesses from last year. My guess is that his progressions will continue to improve the most immediate area that he needs to work on his how he handles the blitz. He is pretty weak in that area right now, last year he was a little better because his instinct was more singularly focused and he would run and it would punish the blitzers. This year he is becoming more of a QB, which is having what I believe will be a short-term negative effect because he is looking to make the pass first and isn't making the right initial read and by then it's often too late to then scramble away from the blitz. Considering what he has shown, my guess is that he'll overcome it. I said this earlier before training camp, the kid is a gamer. Not just because of what he has shown on the football field in clutch situations but if you see how he competes whether it's in these outside football competitions such as winning tournaments among other football players in how far he hits the golf ball or champagne uncorking tournament, he always seems to win. I know that sounds ridiculous but I see it as relevant in the fact that he is a competitor no matter what the sport may be. That is a quality that big time athletes and winners have, which is to compete and win no matter what you do and that is something that he has. So while you may be right that he could have made an easier play by spotting an open receiver my observation is more of a testament in his will to overcome a very difficult situation and to turn it into a positive that ended up leading to a victory.

This actually was a monstrously important play that contributed to the victory. It pretty much went relatively unnoticed, his sheer will to fight through a clear tackle from a D-linemen who essentially locked up in close quarters combat and to break that tackle, then having an ensuing tackler just behind him after he broke that tackle who had a head start of momentum before Allen could begin getting going to have the acceleration that he did to escape that tackle and then show the outright speed to turn the edge (which isn't shown here) and outrun the defender who had an angle on him to then finish it off with a first run down was simply amazing. Only 2-3 QB's could do that and Lamar isn't one of them. That was pure beastmode strength, the only one that I can think of is Cam Newton. Without that play, very likely the Bills lose that game.

Bills QB Josh Allen becoming a must-watch player
Magox replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are definitely better than last year both in the run and pass. Specially the run. -
No one is counting a tie as a win. The definition of undefeated per Merriam-Webster is: not defeated : not having suffered a defeat. You're beef is with the English language. Just admit it or at the very least drop and ignore it and move on rather than doubling down on ignorance.

Oliver, invisible??? Dude, you clearly are not watching Oliver on his own. He beats his man as often as any other Bills D-Lineman beating his man. He constantly is either collapsing the pocket or moving the QB off his preferred spot which leads to positive defensive plays.

Oliver currently is #4 in DT Pass Rush Win Rate

Josh Allen - Draft night retrospect
Magox replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I loved Mahomes coming into the draft and just thought he had that "it" "wow" thing going on. Allen about a month away from the draft I hated. Then as I began to see more of him leading up to the draft I began liking him more and more as each day passed to the point that I came to the conclusion that if we drafted him I'd be perfectly ok with him. To the point on the day or day after we drafted him I created a thread attempting to dispel the notion that he was an inaccurate passer and that with better mechanics, supporting cast and reign in his deep ball mentality that he'd be just fine with his accuracy on his throws. Also I mentioned that he could possibly end up being one of the best QB's in the league outside of the pocket. And that I thought that there was a pretty good chance that he'd have a better career than Rosen. Alot of folks disagreed. I'm just stoked that we got the RIGHT JOSH! -
If Tremaine Edmunds has a problem.....
Magox replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edmunds is progressing just fine. He isn't your natural thumper which isn't a prerequisite any longer for being a MLB, the game has changed and the more prized sought after skill set is for a MLB is pass defense. He's been excellent against the pass and ok vs. the run. I am good with that and the beauty is that he will only get better. -
This week's Fan column in BuffNews - Josh is a gamer

The reason we haven't played a complete game yet.
Magox replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are going to be frank here, Daboll has kept his game planning for the whole year under wraps. They have played with a different set of plays and playcalling throughout the entire year. I havent seen that from a Bills OC in quite some time. My guess is that he will bring in less new plays and playcalling than he has even though I do think he will have quite a few new looks NE hasnt seen yet but will reintroduce the ones that have worked best so far against the defensive formations they anticipate. I said it earlier a couple times, I just hope that we have a heavy dosage of shotgun formations. I think that suits Josh best. -
Incognito admits he was the one who screwed up in Buffalo
Magox replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was inspired by the anti Beane peeps of this board. Thankfully, they are a dying breed round here. -
So Tom Brady loves playing in Buffalo!

Not what you think -
Allen 3rd highest rated passer in 4th Q
Magox replied to NoHuddleKelly12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Knox dropped that one inside the five. -
The defense just need to continue doing what they do, I think they will limit the Pats below what they normally do. On offense play 80%+ of the time from the shotgun where Josh is at his best. He sees the rush, scans the field and processes the game better from the shotgun. Inject it with lots of variations of RPO's and let the chips fall where they may.

The poise that Josh Allen has showed when adversity has faced him. I can't think of too many internal qualities that you'd want from your franchise QB more so than a coolness, competence and the ability to deliver when the pressure is on. The guy ever since he made his first 4th quarter comeback last year I believe leads the NFL in that category. Even last week when the Giants began flirting with a comeback he put the team on his shoulders and led them to a TD to seal the game. No moment seems to big for him. He is our franchise QB.

The Bills play with a chip on their shoulder when they are seen as the underdog, Allen will want out focused and cool and McD and staff have been looking ahead to this game and game planning for it for a while and will have the Bills team ready to ball out in a Rocking Ralph Stadium. Bills win 24-20.

Bills weakness is becoming a trend in QTRs 2nd & 3rd
Magox replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really like our coaching staff on both sides of the ball, but with that said the halftime adjustments need a little readjusting themselves. They need to go into the shotgun formation and let Josh do his thing as opposed to hamstringing him to that double-triple tight end setup play after play. It leads to too many predictable passing situations when the run doesn't work. The shotgun keeps the defense more unbalanced and plays into Josh's strengths. -
This along with how their season will unfold (not good) will lead to a one and one situation for their coach. If they were to go 1-6 or 2-5 through the first seven games, I wouldn't be too surprised if they pulled the plug on him sometime in mid season.

You didn't watch the game did you? In any case, I give him a B - His first half was at a very high level, the rest of the offense made mistakes and they could have easily came away with over 20 points by half time. The pick was inexcusable and led to a complete momentum shift. He was flustered after that pick for the next couple drives but when the rubber met the road Josh Allen does what he just about always does, he came through. The guy is an exceptionally cool when the pressure is on and that is a tremendous quality to have. The play calling this time coming out of the half I would characterize as too conservative, last week when lots of fans were hemming and hawing about how the game plan was conservative in the 2nd half, they were wrong. The Bills were not conservative they just didn't execute and it gave the appearance of them being too conservative. This week in the 2nd half the Bills tried running it too often and threw on downs that were predictably passing downs and Josh wasn't able to get things going. The Bills are best when they are running the shotgun formation at least half the time, Josh is able to see the field more clearly and the Bills keep the defenses more off balance, at least from my observations. I gave him an A for the first half and D for the second half. Would have been an F (due to that atrocious pick) if it hadn't been for his last drive heroics but he came through.

10 observations on the 3-0 start
Magox replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is another observation: The delusional expectations of fans to believe that a team that is beginning to come into its own after only making the playoffs once in the past 20 years is expected to be nearly as dominant through 4 quarters of football consistently as a team such as the Patriots. The Bills aren't the Patriots, they have a 2nd year QB who was raw coming in, essentially a brand new offensive line, WR's, TE's and RB's and are doing enough to win games in the NFL. Yet, some fans expect the Bills to be dominant from the get go. They aren't there yet but the makings of a great team can be seen and with a few additional pieces, more cohesiveness and efficiency in all aspects they will get there. Just enjoy the win and the fact that the Bills will get an opportunity to play against the Patriots heading into it with a 3-0 record. Savor the moment.- 39 replies

Knox was largely known for his athleticism he is showing that he can be a tenacious blocker and runner. He.still makes rookie mistakes but those will get fixed with time. Hes got a nice future ahead of him as a quality starting TE.
