The inconsistency makes it tough. He is aiming for an area of the field where the coverage scheme is designed to focus. If he kicks it somewhere else- shorter, to the other side, even deeper, then coverage can be difficult. Consistency is critical in getting a good net punting average and avoiding big plays against. I don't think he's having a terrible season. He is in the middle of the pack in net punting average and punts inside the 20. But this is an area he can improve on, IMO.

He's hit or miss in the extreme. He can punt it 70 yards or 12. Makes it tough on the coverage team.

The Bills losing to the Chargers in the 1981 playoffs also sticks out for me. That long pass by Fouts late in the 4th Q to win the game... These regular season losses like the one on Sunday, as tough as they are, are no comparison to losing in the playoffs or the Super Bowl.

NFL.COM's top ten WR corps(Bills high on list)
vincec replied to Stank_Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After reviewing the rosters from the article, I'd say that the Bills have THE best receiving corps in the NFL. Not just in terms of overall talent but it terms of versatility too. They can beat you deep, short and in the middle. They can run after the catch and make the contested catches too. Plus, they have a guy that can't be covered 1v1 by any CB in the NFL. If someone has a better WR group that Buffalo then there ought to be a law against them. -
Would you want to re-sign Isiah McKenzie?

Couldn't Roberts do the same thing? He's pretty elusive too. -

I wonder how it feels for Carroll to have the worst defense in the league? -

You can force some turnovers if you put the opposition under duress like the Bills D did today. QB under constant pressure. -
Best single play in Bills history

The era of the running back may be over, but when you watch runs like this it really makes you miss it. No completion can hold a candle to a great run in terms of excitement. -
Unfortunately, they’re not walking out that tunnel.

Watching the Seahawks and 49ers game..

The Bills don’t have anywhere near the DBs to play man coverage except situationally. -
Easy there. Just making a joke.
-
I’d be in favor of that. Especially Miami.

He made one tackle today. Otherwise he was great! Beasley has been very good too.

In this case no additional information is required.

It's play #8 from the review.

Zimmer needs to replace Oliver in starting lineup
vincec replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference between Jefferson and Phillips is that Jefferson can't really play DT full time, despite how he was billed. It's obvious to me that he's just a guy who you kick inside in passing situations but that frequently gets steamrolled on running plays. I agree that Addison and Phillips are roughly equal, but unfortunately teams are running it at the Bills and as you state, that's Shaq's strength and not Addisons. -
Really liked what I saw outta Moss
vincec replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At this point Moss doesn't even look remotely close to Travis Henry, IMO. Travis Henry was a great runner that had fumbling problems or he would have been one of the best Bills backs ever. Moss might turn out to be good but right now he looks like just another rookie RB to me. -

Murphy is apparently on the trading block and Harrison might not be far behind him, so I think it's more than just sending a message. If you think about it, the Bills lost 3 of their top 4 DL from last season. Lawson, Lotulelei and Phillips. At DT they even lost a prime backup in Vince Taylor. So it's not really that much of a surprise that they're struggling badly. -

Sean McDermott is the 2nd Best Coach in Bills History
vincec replied to LB48's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I read things like this I always think of something that Merlin Olsen once said: that it's a lot easier for a team to go from being bad to being good than it is to go from being good to being a champion. McDermott has done well to get the team back to respectability, but taking the next step will be even harder and we should probably wait to see if he can do it before we anoint him the best ever. As was previous posted, Lou Saban won 2 AFL championships and even Marv won 4 AFC titles. -

I love how DL moves are being made left and right but the Bills stand pat. -
Rewatched the Jets game, not good for Edmunds.

This would make a lot more sense if there was anyone remotely decent available to play MLB in his absence.
