Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB
vincec replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tough to see the logic in drafting a RB high when your backs run the ball 18 times a game. Better off looking for a TE or DE with that top pick. -
Marquise Goodwin signed by the Bears

I liked him too when Roman was the OC, but he needs places with run focused offenses that allow him to go deep vs man coverage. I still remember him getting injured while taking a knee on a kickoff return in the end zone. Classic Glass. -
1Ts are headed the way of FBs and blocking TEs. They can be occasionally useful, but the Bills went 15-4 last season without a real 1T and when they lost in the AFC Championship Game, having a 1T wouldn't have made the slightest bit of difference.
-
They could even play Oliver and Richardson together as dual 3T on passing downs. I think the days of Richardson getting huge contracts are over.
-
Why are people saying the Bills don't need him because he's a 3T? Are Vernon Butler and Justin Zimmer better than him?

Any one have Espn Insider? Just curious about Kipers mock

I'd take Robert Mathis. -
You know what John Madden used to say: When a team says that they have multiple good running backs, what that actually means is that they don't have any.
-
I have no idea what happened in these incidents, but given that Watson is an elite QB in his prime- the most coveted asset in all of pro football (and maybe any sport), he will get opportunities to play again no matter what happens unless he actually goes to jail for an extended period of time and is flat unavailable.
-
I think it has more to do with how infrequently they throw the ball. Receivers want to come to teams like the Bills that throw the ball on nearly every down, not the Ravens where they spend most of their time blocking.
-
I actually don't think he's as bad as some on TBD do so I'd be happy to see it, but I doubt he's going to stick around for the league min. He'll get picked up somewhere for more than that.
-
Those 5 guys at the prime pass rush position on the team are a concern to me. You've got two aging players with declining production and three completely unproven players. At this point another season with lots of blitzing to make the pass rush happen seem likely.
-
This strategy of 8 average DL in rotation has led to the most expensive DL group in the league with mediocre results on the field.
-
Zero. That's my concern. The position hasn't really been addressed beyond this season.

I have no doubt that Trubisky is more talented than Barkely but this is just a one year rental so he's not the new long term backup. How much can he pickup and improve in part of one season before he may be needed? Then next year they have Fromm. It's too bad that they couldn't fine someone that they could rely on for at least 2 or 3 seasons.
-
I’m curious to see the terms compared to Sanders.

What route running? The guy had 6 targets all year. They never throw to him except maybe down by the goal line. NFL tackles are more than athletic enough to do what he did in the passing game down by the goal line.
-
I was always baffled by having a blocking TE that can only catch wide open passes on the roster. Just put a backup OT out there and declare him eligible. Why waste a roster spot?

Any interest in Saquon Barkley?

Yeah, but can he make people miss in a phone booth like Singletary? -
I thought Jefferson was better than Butler last season, so on the basis of that I wish that they had restructured Jefferson and cut Butler. But maybe Jefferson wasn't willing.

Trai Turner (RG) -- Daryl Williams Pt. 2

If the Bills are going to improve the running game then they need better play at G-C-G, so I'm all for bringing in players to compete at those positions. -
This report with quotes from the same interview seems to indicate that he thinks Green Bay is actually the front runner. I see nothing in what he said to imply that it's the Bills. Fowler is probably just speculating anyway so I wouldn't put much stock into it. https://247sports.com/Article/JJ-Watt-Packers-perfect-fit-NFL-free-agency-signing-timeline-Bills-Titans-Texans-Wisconsin-161626432/
