I have no doubt that Trubisky is more talented than Barkely but this is just a one year rental so he's not the new long term backup. How much can he pickup and improve in part of one season before he may be needed? Then next year they have Fromm. It's too bad that they couldn't fine someone that they could rely on for at least 2 or 3 seasons.

What route running? The guy had 6 targets all year. They never throw to him except maybe down by the goal line. NFL tackles are more than athletic enough to do what he did in the passing game down by the goal line.

I was always baffled by having a blocking TE that can only catch wide open passes on the roster. Just put a backup OT out there and declare him eligible. Why waste a roster spot?

This is really the model the Bills should follow on defense. Try to improve the pass rush and add speed on the back end. If you can get a rush with four and cover with 7, including 5 or 6 DBs, they you are going to be tough to pass against, even for the Chiefs. Take your lumps vs the run and try to outscore running teams.

He did it twice as I remember. The first time the defense got a sack and everyone was lauding his genius. The second time, the QB escaped and threw the Hail Mary with only a couple of DBs in the end zone and I was crapping my pants. I don’t remember it happening again after that.

I am dubious that you can stop this type of offense by playing predominantly zone, no matter how fast your DBs are or how good your pass rush is.

I would have to go look at the replay, but the ref on the sidelines was clearly signaling for the clock to stop. Maybe they overruled him. But then why did they wait to restart the clock? Strange. Edit: I looked at the replay and I think you nailed it. Fumbled the ball out of bounds. Clock is stopped until the refs spot the ball and signal ready for play, which is what happened. Nice catch.

I noticed this too. But they also didn’t run off 10 seconds on the previous play after they ruled the Colts WR down even though they gave the Bills their timeout back. So the Colts got a net add of 5 seconds at the end, which was worth an extra play.

Plus he used that same TO earlier to force a replay of the fumble that should have resulted in winning them game. His use of timeouts at the end there was great.

They were definitely on their heels in terms of play calling.

You can question going for the TD on 4th down in retrospect because they failed, but the play was there and should have been a TD if executed properly so it's hard to criticize the decision.
