Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)
MDH replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
They haven’t made the playoffs since 2022. Burrow was healthy last year and they didn’t make the playoffs…and the D is worse this year. If Burrow had been healthy all year they’re not a legit playoff team (granted, with that division, they might have made it.) -
What's YOUR Honest Playoff Bracket?

You have the Bills missing the playoffs? -
I understand what you're saying And Jim tressel was a class act and a great coach I only hope marcus Freeman can have Notre Dame turn the corner like that but I truly don't believe it

I hear you on a lot of this, and honestly I agree that Beane could have done a better job in a few key areas. Early in Allen’s career, the whole conversation was about protecting him and building a real run game, and Beane absolutely did that. The O line is the best it’s been in decades and the run game is actually a strength now. But I also think that came at the cost of the WR room. While we were investing heavily in the trenches and the defense, especially the D line, and O-line, the receiver group slowly fell behind. And you’re right: the D line drafting hasn’t been good enough for the amount of capital that went into it. Where I think we differ is how much that overshadows the rest. Because even with the roster flaws, this team is still competitive every single week. We can beat anyone in the league this season, and we’ve done that for years, that’s not something I’m willing to dismiss. And this year especially, the injuries on defense have been brutal. Losing guys like Oliver and Hoecht completely changes what the defense looks like. With both of them healthy, the front seven would look drastically different. Some of this season really has been bad luck, not just bad building. So yeah, the roster could absolutely be better. Beane has real misses that deserve criticism. But I can recognize that and still appreciate that we field a team every year that’s capable of making a run. That’s all I was trying to get across, we can want better without acting like everything is broken.

Bills Hallmark Christmas movie
The Frankish Reich replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
The best performance by a real life Bills player or coach goes to ... McD. His scene was remarkably un-cringey. The rest? Mega-cringe. -
John Cooper was an early version of James Franklin, only he was a better recruiter. 3-8 in bowl games, 2-10-1 vs Michigan, a host of disciplinary problems within the program. Fired because the program was disintegrating from all the problems within the team. Couldn't coach the big game, he wasted a lot of great talent Yes, they were considered a football powerhouse until late in the season. But I wasn't judging them by their ability to be one of the better teams in the country. I was judging them by their lack of character and ability to finish big games. Jim Trestle turned that all around, coupled with continued top tier recruiting, and locked them into the path they continue to enjoy. Sadly for Michigan, I think OSU has eclipsed them in the character department.

have you seen the Bills pass rush data over the last four games? They don’t get home when they blitz, and they don’t hit the quarterback much either. That said, they have affected the qb by blitzing and so they probably should blitz burrow, I’m just not confident he won’t pick them apart. But if they can force a few key stops, the offense should be able to do enough.

even cook…. He was what, 3rd RB off the board? I bet if you do a list of the top 3 RB that are also taken by the end of round 2 behind our line and with our qb… we probably have a lot of fun watching nearly all of them a relatively elite talent in an ideal fit? If anything I’m almost annoyed how much time was wasted on his rookie deal before we embraced him

I played In an adult amateur league (some call it semi-pro) and was questionable for a game once and our quarterback asked if my (slang for female genitalia) was hurt. I ended up playing. can’t imagine what the pressure to play in the NFL is like in comparison. Everyone is depending on you with generational wealth at stake. -
Expecting some crazy defensive sets Sunday
somnus00 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Burrow gets the ball out fast. We need coverage to get him to hold on to the ball a little longer, while hoping simulated pressures can get through to him. He basic 4 man pass rush has been getting nowhere near the QBs. -
At least if they blitz he might feel some pain. But yeah i would hope the O can put up 33 points and that should be enough.

All I know is the drought, which is why I’ll gladly talk like this. My entire fandom was growing up during the drought. Sorry I didn’t get to experience Super Bowls like some of those upset I’m making comments about our GM that most of the NFL community agrees with. There isn’t some loud contingent of NFL people praising the roster around Allen. There is zero part of me that thinks he’s a good GM anymore. I think he’s fine - strong in certain areas, poor in others. And I think he’s fading. This year being almost comical. Bad extensions, bad signings and now two ridiculous situations where he’s somehow the focal point of our team.

If you blitz Burrow, he's going to kill you. If you don't blitz Burrow, he's going to kill you. Your best defense is going to be scoring a lot of points.

Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo

Yeah, I'm sure Rosenhaus represents at least one other player on the Bills Beane couldve called him about, and then slid in "So how does Slay feel about driving up the 90?" -

Taxpayer dollars funneled to Al-Shabaab terror group

If the Minnesota fraud was so huge, why didn't government officials notice and take action? The question is asked on today's episode of the NYT podcast "The Daily." The answer is two-fold: 1. A group called Feeding Our Future accused the state of racism for "slow walking" their application. This wasn't long after the "national reckoning" that followed the death of George Floyd, and "at that time, nobody wanted to be called a racist, even it was wholly unfounded" and "that really had a paralyzing effect on people in state government who knew something funny was going on, but didn't really want to stick their necks out and stop it." 2. Money was cycling back to the Democratic Party. "Somali Americans have become politically quite powerful in the state... and... became important donors to their campaigns.... [S]ome democratic elected officials... worried that any action they took to question or intervene in a way that would maybe stop these schemes, could have alienated a really important constituency." Now, the podcasters clearly wish the fraud problem could be solved by Minnesota. But Trump has jumped at the opportunity to emphasize what reads as racial. He forthrightly — brutally — connected the fraud problem to immigration from the wrong places: Click for more » https://althouse.blogspot.com/2025/12/if-minnesota-fraud-was-so-huge-why.html#more
