I am admittedly jealous of the Eagles who have an active, cutting-edge, first-class pro personnel department making a slew of trades at the waiver deadline in an effort to upgrade depth. Versus Beane’s guys who clearly have run out of new ideas and cannot help but squander their remaining cap dollars on over the hill defensive linemen every single freakin’ year. These small differences often make big differences late in the season.

I have no problem with the signing as JP was a consistent effort player. Perhaps this will make more sense by Wednesday Brandon Beane can be a sneaky SOB. .

So much for that huge 4 game series vs the Sox. At least they didn't get swept but overall, this weekend sucked for the Yanks.

…the roster the Bills announce on Tuesday at 4 p.m. will NOT be the 53-man roster they begin the season with on September 7. I’d guess that 2-3 spots will change between Tuesday and the opener. It’s one of the reasons predicting the bottom of the roster is something of a silly exercise, since teams wait to see all of the cuts and typically someone’s discards fill a gap on another roster. For the Bills, I think the spots most likely to shift involve the OL and DL, particularly with rumors of Jordan Phillips in the house. Further, there are potential PUP and IR moves that may occur after a player has “made” the team. Just food for thought…it’s definitely a game involving some strategy as to which guys to release that they think they can get back on the PS. This is where a fair amount of “wink, wink” deals are made.

I agree with the first part that some guys are willing to accept that they’re a valuable NFL backup QB built for the meeting room, the show team and to finish a game, but not much more. I do not agree about anyone being able to learn from Josh (or Lamar, Burrow, Mahomes, Etc) because he (they) do unnatural things on the gridiron. If you want to learn from a starter, it needs to be a more conventional starter like maybe a Geno, Goff or Darnold. Otherwise, hard to believe you can replicate what JA17 is capable of on the field.

The problem is, year after year we keep investing heavily in the same position group and it continues to be a problem. We need at least two out of three of this rookie DL class to hit IMO.

Same reason you didn't see Cook, Davis and Ty. They know what they can do and their place is set on the roster. This last game is really only for a handful of fringe players and the experience for younger players. They probably knew everything they needed after the first preseason game.

Samuel has a terrible contract and not saying this is the case but it certainly feels like he is playing his leverage to some degree to skip camp, preseason and practice. Keeping him sends a bad signal too. He's also hard to trade bc you basically have to find a willing partner to take on 7+ mill this year for a guy that has done very little as a Bill and missed pretty much all of camp and preseason and has been dealing with some type of nagging injury for the past 3 seasons (23, 24, and this one). I absolutely hate the prospects that Samuel makes the team and Shaver's doesnt, but there's agood chance that is the case. I think keeping Samuel is just going to irritate everyone unless 30 catches and 300 yards for a guy that may or may not be 100% at some point is something that makes him invaluable. I think Moore has been available but i havent seen him make any plays that separate him from other fodder in the preseason. In fact if you were just looking at guys without knowing how they got to the Bills i think he'd easily be middle of the pack of guys who will be cut. I know practice matters and we only hear reports but i also think the games are what you are paid for and if dropping balls and losing yds on short passes keeps you on the team Shavers is doing it all wrong. Id be interested to see what Shavers could do and i do believe that he has the talent to makeplays with the starters but that is still an unknown so i get it.

Any types of schemes can work for a little bit until they are figured out. Best chance of success is being multi-dimensional. Don't let the defense cue up on a specific type of offense.
