Nailed it with the war thing🤡 Wut?

I think if we really want to get technical, Beane’s job is to take this team to the Super Bowl every year (as is every GM’s). Allen is in his prime right now. Who cares where this team will be in 2030. Start worrying about that in 2029. As for the 2025 Bills - we could’ve used some help, which likely could’ve been obtained for a 3rd pick (Shaheed) or maybe even a 2nd round pick (Olave). The Bills are still great, and likely the team to beat in the AFC. But at some point in Allen’s career we are going to have to go all-in somewhere other than the DL.

Sounds good as long as you hit on the draft picks.
-
Very surprised. I was hoping for maybe a Jeudy at WR. Would have loved Williams but no way Jets were trading within the division.
-
I certainly would not have been angry if he made a move on the defensive line But compared to most of the league.. and looking what we did to mahomes We actually do have a lot of veteran talent with some young guys Injuries happen in the NFL... But season ending injuries still are not that common Just because we had some guys go down early doesn't mean everybody on our D line is going down.. Chris Jones could go down tomorrow, so could Myles Garrett We still are 4 deep at defensive tackle and good ends... Even AJ is playing well Walker literally tossed Creed Humphrey on Sunday like he's never been... Even Jordan Phillips made plays in the playoffs last year against the Chiefs We've invested so much in the line over the last 4 or 5 years it's going to be the best part of our defense in January barring really unfortunate circumstances This team is better than last year and we were three points away from the Super bowl

Trade Deadline has come and gone
HamptonBillsfan replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane is satisfied with making the playoffs with the best QB/RB tandem and not using draft capital to fill gaping holes in the roster. That’s the deal,Buffalo fans just go along with him not bringing in a #1 or #2 receiver, not bringing a better safety now that Rapp is gone and no D-tackle with Jones, Oliver and Jones out long term. He’s always in cap hell and he freezes at the prospect of making a deal involving draft choices. His drafts suck( Coleman, Sanders and Turner) all have done nothing and he keeps players, sucking up cap space longer than necessary ( Miller,Milano, Jones. Epenesa) He survives on the coattails of Josh, Cook and some O -lineman. Oh well -
The bills are in cap hell partly because we traded for that malcontent Diggs who was a no show in the playoffs, bitched and moaned to get out of there after being paid. Even worse, the Vikings drafted Justin Jefferson with that pick. Thank you prick! I hope the Bills go on the revenge tour.

There’s always a deal to be had but does it make sense? We don’t know what they were offering on Wilson or Waddle or Olave. If the Dolphins said, 2 1’s for Waddle would you do it? That’s too rich for me. I would have for Wilson but apparently they didn’t want to deal with division teams (guessing that was the Pats too). The Bills are one of the best few teams in football. The only contenders that improved today are Seattle, Philly and Indy. It’s not like the elite teams all improved while the Bills stayed still. I’ve been pounding the table to “make a move” as much as anyone. There wasn’t one that moved the needle.
-
And that will be Beane’s excuse for being bounced out of the playoffs again. “Sorry not my fault, it was the injuries.”
-
True. But the reason it's so frustrating is that the AFC is basically wide open. Ravens, Chiefs and Bengals are all on the outside looking in at this point. We aren't even on top of our division as perhaps the stiffest competition this year is sitting with us in the AFCE in the Pats. A third round pick in the upcoming draft isn't gonna help them win the Super Bowl this year. But it could have possibly landed Shaheed and helped this year.

Stable Genius Update: Late last week: we would release funds to pay SNAP benefits but we don't have the legal authority to do that. If I have that authority, I would do so right away. Two federal court judges: You not only have that authority, you are in fact duty-bound to release those funds to pay benefits immediately. Trump in the wee hours today: I don't care, I'm not gonna do it unless the Senate Dems pass a continuing resolution. Trump by lunchtime (probably after talking to his lawyers): I am releasing those funds, but I'm gonna take my time doing so. And then only half benefits.

TJ Sanders was a high draft pick from an SEC school…it’s not unreasonable to expect an impact from him when he returns…same could be said of Jackson, I suppose…

Who in the hell is conditioning these players?
OldTimer1960 replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is probably a bit of truth to this, but I don’t think you can point to Oliver, Sanders, Milano or Rapp’s injuries and conclude that if only they were bigger they would not have gotten hurt. Yes, all undersized, but freak injuries happen. -
Serious question how good are 7-2 AFC teams (and LAC at 6-3)
SC STATE NUPE replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t fear any of those squads. I don’t fear being a wildcard whatsoever. I’m only afraid if Baltimore wins their division and the Bills go there with like 12 wins and lose to a 9 win squad. That’s worse case scenario stuff. But if the Bills are 5 and the Chiefs below, I can see both squads meeting in Buffalo for the AFC title game. I think the Broncos would pose a challenge some though. Payton is an aggressive offensive coach, and McDermott has struggled against those types a good bit… -
Perfect! Now we can spend another seven draft picks on defensive linemen that won’t play in 2026.
-
-
That's probably exactly what happened. The same reason, I suspect, for why they traded out of the first round in 2024 and had to settle for Coleman. Literally couldn't afford a 1st-round salary that year. Kinda bleak.

Sauce Gardner to the Colts for 2 1st round picks (and AD Mitchell)
CincyBillsFan replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jones just had a FIVE TURNOVER game, 5! They're taking a huge gamble here because if Jones is not the guy the loss of those two 1st round picks will prove devastating. As it is even if Jones is the guy that was a very steep price to pay for a corner that hasn't looked that good over the last 2 seasons. -
I would have happily made either of the trades for Meyers or Shaheed. Bummer.
-
No way was Beane going to get a WR and have to walk back his comments on air on WGR and in interviews that followed. IMHO, we need defensive line help also. I didn't think we’d be able to swing two trades, unless he had some cap gymnastics in his pocket. Not entirely surprised. Ticked at the sale price for Shaheed..felt we could have done that.
-
The game was not over until the last play. We did not really bully them. Mahomes had a bad statistical day. But you can move the ball with 33% competetion rate if the defense lets you complete 3 and 10 on a regular basis. incomplete, incomple, 11 yard pass works all day long.
-
The term overpaying is overused. You have to take risks when the window is open. Unless beating the Chefs in the regular season is good enough.
-
Question is who could they get and fit under the cap and what would they have to give up? Chris Olave was likely not really available unless they sent a couple of 1s back and I think he would have helped, but wasn’t going to guarantee a SB spot.
-
Makes you wonder if this would ever happen.
