He was pretty high functioning late in the game, particularly with that one-handed TD grab.  I am honestly not sure what players and teams are supposed to do in that situation.

It was obvious on the field.  The man should not have been out there.   The Bengals were way wrong playing him.  I hope the NFL fines them a million bucks and takes away a few draft choices as well.  I  feel terrible for Higgins the man, he was taken advantage of big time.

Yea idk how to catch it definitively…mild concussion is a tricky business.  I’ve had a few where like I knew I shouldn’t be doing anything strenuous but easily could’ve after getting over the initial ‘getting your bell rung’ feeling

adrenaline can definitely power you through minor ones

I'd say if a player is in concussion protocol in the week leading up to the game, and then is flagged by the spotter for a test due to head contact, he should sit out for at least a quarter and go through intensive testing.  If they go back out and get pulled off again, shut them down for the game.

No exeptions.

Show a doctor a video of a player slamming his head into the ground with high velocity and force.

Then show a doctor a video of that player doing it again and grabbing his head.

Then ask that doctor if that player should keep hitting his head for the rest of the afternoon.

The first time he got checked out, he called to the trainers himself right after the play. You can see him pointing to his head & yell something toward the sideline.

The 2nd time was worse, he immediately grabbed the back of his head with both hands & looked to be really feeling it.

These weren't questionable situations where checking him for concussion seems stupid, he was rocked. I can't believe he got back in after the first one, let alone the 2nd.

all you had to see was that first hit he took to the back of the head... he hit the ground HARD. there was no way he wasn't going to be back into the protocol.

What a disadvantage it was to the Bills to have not pulled him out.  It was clear A FEW TIMES he was concussed.

I'd love to know how the protocol works.

It doesn’t work- this is sad - it should not happen

At least, not coming off a concussion. You see healthy players smack their head on the ground like that. Sometimes they are completely fine and the helmet does its job, and sometimes they are concussed. But a guy who suffered a concussion so recently, there is no way a smack like that does not concuss him.

And he should have been wearing a guardian cap. The league needs to mandate those for any player coming off of a concussion. Those players should wear them for the rest of the season.

Sal said on the radio this morning that the first time he hit his head on the turf they could all actually hear the sound of his head hitting.

There are some players in this league so talented, they don’t even need a working brain.
