I think if one them gets fired both of them do and vice versa. They're a package deal IMO. I tend to lean in your direction though that they're both here to stay but there will be some splash moves made to create some excitement.

I agree with both of your sentiments that it's likely both stay and to quiet the anger from fans over both how I see the season ending and they're staying - that we're likely to see some splash moves.

Where I disagree though is the idea that they're a package deal. I could easily see a scenario where Beane lets McDermott go.

There was even a conversation on the Jeremy White, Joe Marino, Jerry Ostrowski show that discussed what they perceived as a possible rift between the two.

I think if Beane felt that either a.) McDermott wasn't getting the most out of what he was giving him or b.) That he could keep his job at the cost of McDermott - he'd pull the trigger.

If Beane goes, McDermott will surely go as a new GM would want to bring in their own guy. But I don't think Beane would willingly go down with the ship if he could avoid it. I don't think the bond is so tight that he'd willingly go to the unemployment line if he didn't have to.

Beane can’t let McD go imo. That’s not the power dynamic.

I do think Beane is not above selling McD down the river to Terry to save himself. He has a self-serving streak in him. Even back in 2023 when the season was shaky, I felt like some of the things Beane said had the air of subtly blaming McD for the team’s shortcomings.

Ultimately, I think both will end up being a package firing. And I hope they would be. I think their track record here is too intertwined to fairly parse out who is “more” at fault.

It would be a mistake to keep one at the expense of the other imo.

Missing meetings? He will fit right in with Keon!

They could miss meetings together. Then WR1 and WR2 would both be inactives. Beane has to pull the trigger now.

I would be extremely surprised if McDermott brought in a defensive coordinator and allowed them to implement anything other than his McDefense.

I would have been until this season.   I think it's reached a point where he has to relinquish control defensively.   He is baby sitting Babich.   Babich may one day be a great DC but that position is the one that favors the wiser man.   Offense can still be about innovation so young minds can still find an advantage.

Every thread here turns into fire Beane.  Fire McDermott.

Like a goof ball such as Terry Pegula will make magical moves to improve the team?   Not gonna happen.

Terry is too busy watching the stadium cost overruns and worried about opening day of NEXT year.    His wife is not well.  His hockey team is run by two guys on expiring contracts after THIS season.

Terry is not firing either of them.  He likes them.

Pretty noticeable how, at least publicly, McD offers criticism of the OC whereas the DC isn't highlighted that way.

I'm inclined to believe that's because for all intents and purposes, McD is the DC right now.

That's my point.  And, that I'm sure he pushed hard to re-load this off-season on defense.

If they miss the meetings together did they really miss the meeting or did they each attend an alternative meeting?

If Kevyn Adams can't get himself fired there is no shot McDermott or Beane do.

We would probably sign him and then McDermott will healthy scratch him for 2 months in favor of a 3rd string LB that can play STs.

Sal “guys Aiyuk is down again today but here’s the thing. With Terrel Bernard hurt the coaching staff might feel like Baylon Spector gives them more incase you have an injury to Shaq Thompson. If Buffalo Joe has to go in then you need another guy to go out there and get holding penalties on punt returns. Also if 9 offensive lineman go down he can step in as an emergency center”

"Guys, GUYS, listen..." 😅

imagine a team that has a defensive head coach that cant stop anyone when it matters in the playoffs, and a GM that wont get your MVP QB any help on offensive...  Crazy that could ever happen huh?

Imagine trying to get players that all

you arm chair GMs want, with little to no money.

Imagine that you caused that shortage of money through bad contracts?

Sounds like got a bag and poor rehab situation.  I would guess he is likely done.  Voiding guaranteed is rare and hard to do and win.
