Not remotely true. The Bills offense scored on ONE TD and it was a defensive bust on a long TD run. Bills defense gave up probably 1 more drive than they should have tonight.  But that first drive - every NFL team is gonna have at least a few good drives.

The Bills D was the only reason this wasn't a blow out. The Texans STARTED two drives deep in Bills territory and came away with 6 freakin points.  The Bills went an entire 3rd quarter getting just a single first down.

This is nuts to me. Are you demanding perfection, and then when it doesn't happen claiming it's terrible?

Texans only had 261 yards of offense. Not sure what else you expect this D to do.

Who will go first McDermott or Allen?  At this point Sean has become Marvin Lewis 2.0 and the way Josh is getting pubished lately I’m not so sure it’s anlock any ore that Josh will outlast him.

People overstate that sentiment

Philip Rivers Got beat down consistently.. never made it to two AFC championship games and he stayed in San Diego for 17 years and left when he was 40

Josh is not leaving anytime soon because.. A- he's too much of a competitor

B- he's literally not even 30 the prime years of quarterbacks in the modern NFL are still coming up

I am pretty certain he would retire early rather than destroy his Goodwill with Buffalo

That’s possible.  But if we have a new GM not sure how much worse end result would be. Always hope he gets Seattle OC

I'd LOVE Kubiak if we really had to get rid of McD.

I'd also like to lure Eliot Wolf from NE but that's a long shot.

We made stops at the end of this game. That’s something we never do. If you can separate the aggravation and frustration from this loss to take a positive….we aren’t wining the division. It was over when we lost to the Pats. We’re going on the road. That’s going to happen. We have to get in the playoffs. That’s not a certainty by any means but we can definitely build on how the defense played. After Bernard went down we got the right guys on the field. This coach is to useless to have seen it on his own but his hand was forced. If our offense can get the Oline fixed here and maybe we bring in Daboll to help the play calling. We can do something. The defense making real stops is the most important thing we have been missing. If you can get this offense going again we might be in better shape then it seems

The drive before the half was pathetic.

And I was upset. But they definitely gave us a real chance

Idk maybe this team is not it. They looked outmatched

The defense is probably somewhere around above average, while also being hugely hamstrung by injuries. Cook, the run blocking, and Allen are carrying the offense to random outputs every game.

As already said our defense craps the bed at the worst possible time. Over and over again. That drive at the end of the half - get the ball back. Make a stop. But no, let Davis Mills go down the field for 75 yards.

And history plays a part in this. Nothing changes. Our offense at least swings from abysmal to excellent. You know what you're going to get from this defense. A back breaking drive in every game when momentum needs to be altered.

I've had enough of our head coach leading a mess of players who can't do the basics. Admittedly that feels like that's on all sides of the ball at the moment. But when he's supposed to be a defensive guru...

The Texans had 28 pressures tonight. TWENTY EIGHT?!?!?!

Yeah the Texans have the best combination of pass rushers in the league and Allen holds the ball for an eternity.   That's the formula for a pressure on every passing down.

That said..........the defense not pressing and tackling the Texans WR's with 9 seconds left in the half cost the Bills 4 points.   I'm astonished that they played off on that critical play.   Just take the penalty and force them to kick or go for it from half the distance or even the 1.  Those 4 points were literally the difference in the game.   Just brain dead defensive coaching.

And THAT said.......in the grand scheme.......this is just an old, slow, uninspired, injury-prone roster.    They are the 1994 Bills re-incarnate.   Except instead of still having capable stars in Kelly, Thurman, Bruce and Andre........they are carried by Josh Allen.   Bad pro personnel decisions and cap work have greatly reduced their margin for error.

That hand off on 4th and 1. WTF? It's either tush push or FG.

That Shakir fumble.

The Dion Dawkins false start.

If any of those things didn't happen, we win the game. Josh Allen's 2 INTs well that's the number one defense in the NFL. They're gonna get sacks and picks. Those are expected.

McD is on the hot seat. Should have been gone 2 years ago (to me anyway). He's just a lame duck? On borrowed time? Favoritism from management?

Joe Brady is done. He's not coming back.

Babich not returning either.

Our defense was terrible in the 1st half, yet picked it up in the 2nd half.

If we wanna look on the positive, I honestly thought we get blown out. We hung in there and almost won the game vs. the number one defense in the NFL playing for their playoff lives. That's the only positive in a night of full of negatives. Yes, this was a playoff game tonight. It showed.

We're hoping that Josh Allen is NOT THAT BADLY injured.

We'll live.

This was always going to be a hard game on the road against that D on a short week. They already have an advantage at home with the snap count and crowd noise and the short week made it even bigger.

Just made too many dumb plays, too many mistakes and some really dumb play calls at inopportune times.

I just wanted them to show everyone that they were a mentally tough team that could handle this type of game

You wonder at what point the house of cards just crumbles. Most media had them regressing last season, but they manned up and had a great season.  Now it’s time for regression. It’s not outrageous to think they can lose 4 of their last 6.  They aren’t that good to say they will win any road game or the Eagles.

Which would be a miracle. The Steelers defense will kill us, as will the Bengals offense. Then we're off to the Pats, before playing the Eagles at home. Maybe we'll sign off Highmark with a win against the Jets.

Right now I'm tempted to put money on 8-9 without changes being made. And Pegula won't make them.

you're wrong nice optimism though.

Steeler suck and we will win with 10 days rest

bengals, I have no clue about, that Bengal's d is the one worse than bours

I think we we beat the Patriots because it won't matter for the division at that point

Jets is a in

Philadelphia - who know what they're playing for

Maybe get an easier route via the wild card.  How does this sound:

-we win tonight get the 2nd seed and place Kc (#1 wild card in rd 1)

-We end up as the number 1 WC team now and play PIT in rd 1 of the playoffs

-we win the WC vs PIT and Play Indy or NE in Rd 2

I hate our coaches an dour owners but I still believe

It was the Texans. Their offense is abysmal. Getting stops is the least they should be doing against them. They're only on 6-5 because of their D.

I'm not getting over excited because it took the defense, and coaches, a whole half to work out how to limit Davis Mills.

Pittsburgh and philadelphia can both do that.  Cleveland has a one man wrecking crew and the defense is going to give us all kinds of problems.

Pittsburgh and Cleveland both really just have one elite pass rusher. If Cook and Spencer Brown are healthy we should be able to run on them. Not sure what to make of Philly, they've been up and down all year.

Houston is just by far the best defense in the league this season in terms of regular stats and advanced stats like success rate and EPA/play. Playing them on a short week on the road was always going to be a tall order.

The whole game and the ending sucks, but if that is what is needed to get McDermott out the door, I take the short term pain.

you’re kidding right?  Pegula ain’t firing Beane and McD this year, even if we miss the postseason

If you know anything aboutJosh, you know the answer, He's never leaving Buffalo. He's here for another 8 years hopefully more. Mcstupid, beane counter and Brady can go away whenever. Except Pegula will sit with his fingers up his a$$ and do nothing like he does with the sabres

Said it many times before---this O-line sucks.  One half decent player the rest slow and without significant skill.

Even on run plays where the O line is good you can almost give more credit to #85 & #41 for the big run plays.  Last season was as much about Allen's elite escapability as the O line being great at pass blocking ad this season hey have clearly regressed.

As I loom at the Bills roster construction from 30,000 feet I see a team that:

*  Made no effort to upgrade the WR room with above average play makers.

*  Focused on building a TE room that was better at run blocking then pass catching.  They did this to the extent that their best pass catching TE when healthy is barely on the field for 50% of the snaps.

*  Focused on creating a very good run blocking O line at the expense of it's pass blocking ability.

All of this has been done in service to McD's belief that this will result in the complimentary football needed to win a SB. So McD & Bean have structured a roster that is counter intuitive when you have a QB like Allen.  Making matters worse after almost every season the majority of the FA & Draft assets are thrown at the D and yet the D has continually declined and has been the primary reason for losing playoff games.

OK, time to accept we aren't winning the division and we are going to need to win a road playoff game for the first time in the Allen/McD era.
