This D can't stop a nosebleed.  You recognize they have an elite defense but want to run a conservative offense against that. IOW you want to give that elite defense more and more opportunity to stop our offense by adding unnecessary extra plays in the drives.

I just dont get this mindset. What do crap teams do when they are playing against an elite QB? They try to have long time consuming drives to limit the other QBs opportunity, right? So why do people want to actually do that to our own offense? All we do is limit our own offenses opportunity with the ball. We shorten the game and therefor the amount of possessions against ourselves. Then when a mistake happens it completely kills the game and we wonder why.

Freaking ty. The other teams actually want us to play small ball. It only benefits them, not us. McD runs a bend but dont break defense. Always has and probably always will. Now I am not going to say that the defense is good... but in the past it has been excellent (accept against the Chiefs in the playoffs) it worked so well because it caused other teams to play small ball. The more attempts they had on a drive the more chance they had at making a mistake. Our D thrived off turnovers. It wasnt good between the 20s but it was good at getting turnovers.

 

This is what people want us to do to ourselves. Run these long 12-15 play 7-10 min drives. A single mistake happens and the drive is over unless Josh pulls off some miraculous play. At the same time we are limiting our own opportunities with the ball because we are shortening the clock against ourselves.  You cannot play like this all the time. People expecting a QB to be perfect all game every game. Its just not going to happen.

Held the Rams to 14 points

Held the Bucs to 20 points (that was when the Bucs had receivers still)
Held the Jags to 17 points
Held the Broncos to 18 points
The one that got away from the was the Seahawks 27 points

Sorry but if I told you the Bills held the other team anywhere from 14-20 points, you'd probably expect we won the game right?
That also doesn't include some games they did win like holding the Ravens to 10, SF to 15, Titans to 13 and 0.

This was always the toughest game on the schedule to me after the Ravens game bc of that defense alone and it’s on the road.  
 

Game won’t look anything like yesterday.  

You play right into their hands by playing a close game.

While not an official practice today for the Texans, Stroud was listed as still in concussion protocol so unless he practices tomorrow in some capacity he is going to be out for the Bills game but there are already reports that he is going to be out for the Bills game.

Collins has been listed on the injury list this week (limited participation in practice, ankle), but does not have a game status on the latest report.

The Texans have two other receivers on the injury list this week:

Dalton Schultz (LP/shoulder): 51 Rec; 489 Rec Yds; 1 Rec TD

Cade Stover (FP/foot): 4 Rec; 22 Rec Yds; 0 Rec TDs

They had a walk through.  This injury report should be taken with a particularly large grain of salt.

Ya I'll never understand that approach either. Unfortunately that's what Joe Brady and McDermott have been doing a lot of this year as well which have cost them. Never understand that when JA17 is the QB.

 

Its like Tom Brady when they played the bills in the drought days- They didn't go into the bills games and say "let's be conservative on offence and limit turnovers "  lol

Well that's actually correct.  Houston hasn't played a Thursday night game yet though so they gave them the bills. 

 

I'm sure they try to do two teams at the same time but can't always make the schedule fit for that.

I'm not that impressed with the Texans' Defense as the PR department is:

• The only good (top-level) offense they have shut down was the Rams in week one, who they held to 14 points--but still lost. [Note, they did stifle the Ravens, but Lamar was out.]
• They have given up 20 to Tampa Bay (a loss), 27 to Seattle (a loss), 17 (a loss), and 29 to Jacksonville (which they somehow won). That’s an average of 25+ in these four games against these three playoff teams.
• Their average points allowed against the six playoff teams they have played is 22.5 points per game.
• Further skewing their D stats, they have had the luxury of playing the Titans twice already, who have scored a grand total of 13 points in those two games. And, they held the Lamar-less Ravens to 10. 

Yes, they are good. And mainly because of their defense, they have won 5 games. But the Defensive numbers are not as impressive when you look deeper.

 

Take the Over on 22.5 for the Bills' offense.

Yep, sometimes the backup QB just gets the ball out of his hand and doesn't mess around too much.  Mills is like that.  Some Texans fans think he's better.  Kind of like Brissett in Arizona.  Kyler struggles passing and never has that kind of day with completions.

In 2023, he may not have been wrong. He was ROTY and Josh was throwing picks all over the place. He, quite obviously, jumped the gun.
