According to Cover 1, Coleman will be a healthy scratch (rumored for Texans game too)

What a mess! As this shakes out, it’s looking like a huge miss. Curious if there was any of this type of behavior at FSU? Rooting for the young man, but after a season and a half, I have serious doubts if he’ll ever be more than a WR4 at best. Again with where the Bills have been drafting you can’t keep missing like this.

Beane and the scouting department have to be better!

Coleman will need to learn from Shavers how to earn playing time. He needs a lesson in humility and learn discipline. He also needs to learn how to play WR. People can mature and change. He has great teammates around him. He might just grow up and become a better player but he better start showing it in practice.

Here it is

And honestly I don’t know how you put him back in after last weeks game. Who deserves to be pulled from the lineup?

Not anyone I can see. Can’t be Samuel they play different roles.

And we aren’t scratching Shavers what message would that send?

Bills have Palmer and Shakir on multi-year deals.

They have the rights to Shavers past this year.

Id be willing to bet that if things go well with Gabe, he’s back next year.

Thats 4 WR’s and we’re likely looking for another WR in the Draft, FA or trade to play meaningful snaps with them.

Keon is looking like a guy who might just be emergency depth this year and then flipped for a 5th before the Draft.

Im hopeful he can be something for us if/when called upon, but if he’s inactive again, he might only get back on the field as a Buffalo Bill due to injury.

This has been going on behind the scenes for a while, Im guessing.

Maybe hes only been late to 2 meetings, maybe more?  Also possible they've seen him dogging it in games and up until now (with Gabe), didnt have a better option.

At some point enough is enough.  For Dion, McD to say what they've said -  i think its quite clear there is more than we know.

Also no one knows if this week's scratch might be related to something more that happened this week - maybe not being late but something as basic as his behavior,  they don't feel his attitude has improved for whatever reason(s), etc

Barring some injuries couldn't see how they went back after one week

If this team is about culture... The only thing keon can do is put his head down and work hard for a couple weeks ... There had to be a message sent

I’d struggle with the decision to bring him from essentially WR1 by snap count to no jersey at all after a one game suspension for conduct.

I know there are various roles and it’s not just plug and play 1-2-3-4-5-6…. but to go from 1 to like 7 instantly for on field performance feels like an indictment of his share immediately proceeding the discipline.

it just feels very all or nothing? Like maybe we limit his reps for a stretch?

I get what you're saying but...

Brady uses different receiver packages.  Some are designed to support the run game, others to stretch the field horizontally, or threaten vertically.   Either Coleman is good enough to be on one or more of the personnel groupings, or he's not.  If Brady decides he has other players who are better suited for his packages (looking at their individual speed, size, talent, preparation, effort), then Coleman sits.

The calculus of these decisions has shifted.  Shavers is proving himself as an all-around good guy.  Recently signed Hardman brings speed.  Palmer's healthy again.  Gabe's on the field again.  So where does that leave Keon?

I don't think it's a matter of managing Coleman's snap count.  I think it's a matter of seeing where he fits - or doesn't.

He won’t be active again and won’t play in the new stadium unless he’s a visitor.

Like he bought tickets to come watch Josh Allen

I'm not surprised at all. He sat out due to his own creation and others got a chance and stepped up. They put up 44 freakin points and we had space we hadn't seen all season in the passing game. Coleman was overdrafted that's for sure and not his fault, but at this point he has not done enough to have a hammerlock on a position.

Unless there are some severe behavioral issues behind the scenes (quite possible) he isn't going anywhere. His rookie contract is really saving him here, as it costs more cap-wise to cut him than keep him. He'll likely be demoted to WR 4/5 with red zone usage unless he gets his act together. Although I'm dubious that the light bulb will click on for this guy.

I did acknowledge that it’s not simply ranking guys, in a nod to packages but my point still was that he went from being active in the most packages to unable to dress…. And maybe Palmer getting healthy plus Gabe truly does replace him in essentially every package

I just think at some point if the guys underwater you start limiting packages and giving a few to others as both a wake up call but a chance to hone a specific craft or two

in a Brady fan but it’s a strange transition. It’s rare to see a WR or DL so drastically shift their platooning

Why would they bring him back this week?  Things worked well last week.  Completely the wrong message to put him back in.

Why was this new information merged with an old thread? Anyone browsing the main page won’t know this is about the Texans game since this thread was started before the Bucs game.

The reports are that he's a healthy scratch this week again.

I completely agree with this, except I'd use the word "injuries" at the end instead.  I can't seem him getting time over any two of Palmer, Davis, or Shavers outside.  I can't comprehend that they'd trust him in the slot without lots of practice time there, since he apparently is a little unsure of what he's supposed to be doing outside.  He doesn't play core teams, and he almost got himself killed on his one PR.   Barring multiple injuries, I just don't see how he gets a jersey again this year.
