US Egg Posted Tuesday at 09:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:15 PM A far cry from the no net free-for-all behind the end zone for the ball at the Old War Memorial. My father wouldn’t let me go down there. 1 2 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted Tuesday at 09:38 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:38 PM So why is it you cant keep a ball if it flys into the stands? Its not like baseball where it happens multiple times a game. The NFL that hard up? 1 Quote
DuckyBoys Posted Tuesday at 10:10 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:10 PM Pegula cant afford another $100 Wilson FB? 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted Tuesday at 10:10 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:10 PM Why not just let the guy have the ball? They have like 50 more at hand. He would save this forever. Giving him another ball isn’t the same. It’s BS to me. 1 Quote

My guess is close to zero. I call bullsh*t. 1 Quote
Pecker Posted Tuesday at 10:51 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:51 PM What’s the point of the bills getting the ball back? Especially when they give you a different ball ?? Just let the fans keep it 2 Quote

Dan Darragh Posted yesterday at 02:02 AM Posted yesterday at 02:02 AM Tirico was hilarious. Funniest prime time football moment since this one in 1972: 2 Quote

947 Posted yesterday at 01:12 PM Posted yesterday at 01:12 PM Wilson "The Duke" footballs are $160 nowadays, so it's not like losing a baseball into the stands. Quote
Playoffs? Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM Posted yesterday at 02:06 PM Stupid that the fans can’t keep the balls that they catch. The NFL and the owners bring in so much money. Let’s say 3 balls go into the stands each game (which may be on the high side), the NFL can’t afford $500 per game? Give me a break. 1 1 Quote

I know Josh thru it but that was a big game... and to leave your wife alone in the stands cmon man... At least the guy got a game ball out of it..........If you met my wife, you'd see why i would have left her for a hot dog. 2 Quote
Metal Man Posted yesterday at 04:17 PM Posted yesterday at 04:17 PM This doesn't make any sense. If they are willing to give fans a replacement ball anyway why not just let them keep the ball that goes into the stands? I guess unless the replacement is one of those mini footballs or a nerf one.... Quote

I think it is because, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, the game balls are now chipped for the first down technology. The replacement balls would be run-of-the-mill Wilson NFL footballs. AI Answer: Yes, NFL footballs are chipped; a small, coin-sized microchip has been inserted into them since 2017 as part of the NextGen Stats system. While this chip collects data on the ball's movement and other player metrics, it has a margin of error and is not currently used to make precise officiating calls like first downs, though the NFL continues to test and develop the technology for future use. SoCal Deek Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago The NFL (No Fun League) started down this misery spiral when they put those pesky nets up behind the goal posts. Back at the Rockpile, the kids would all stand behind the end zone and try to catch the field goals and extra points. Inevitably a feeding frenzy ensued after each kick…like watching piranha when chum is dumped into the tank. Good times, I tell ya! 😉 Quote
