Lose on purpose?

I’m not talking about losing the game and no opponent should be taken for granted but….

 

If the game is in hand and there haven’t been any turnovers, should the Bills lose a fumble on purpose to end their streak of games not losing the turnover battle?  To me, yes.  Why:

 

1 reason against is it would be nice to keep the streak.

 

2 reasons for include both proving we can win games even when we have more turnovers and also every week we don’t lose the turnover battle increases the odds that the following week we will.  It would be far better to have that happen now than against a team like KC.

I asked for opinions and gave supporting arguments for each side.  What’s so dumb about that?  Maybe you refer people just being know it alls and getting in arguments?  Personally I think that’s dumb.

There is no supporting argument in favor other than the one you made up in your mind that literally makes zero logical sense to anyone who ever played sports at any level.

Exactly.  It’s cool we have this long streak but it leaves it unclear if we NEED to win the turnover battle,.  Also, each week the odds increase that we lose it.  If we are way ahead, we might as well get those odds back in our favor.

Go rewatch the games in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 and you'll have your answer.

I feel like we should lose this game because we are almost certainly going to lose at least 2 games, and we would rather have an NFC loss

Let's then see if we can win a game without scoring any points on offense. That's the logical next step, I think.

That being said it's not the craziest thought in the world with how analytical based sports are getting.  

 

Like that Jets game last week I mean yeah in the moment you aren't going to dump out at the 3 yard line after blocking a field goal kick and returning it for a touchdown with under 2 minutes left.  That being said that would have been what the Jets kinda should have done in retrospect

Yeah, if it was against an AFC team, I'd say no way; but against teh NFC, you have to think about it.

That doesn’t matter as much any more.  They changed the tie breakers.
