I thought it was after the trade deadline there are no waivers?

Other way around. The NFL doesn’t want to see star players in the last year of their deals released at the end of the regular season so they can go play for playoff teams. So they make every released player go through waivers after the deadline.

The ESPN article says he had difficulty understanding the Texans' complex coverage responsibilities. It explains 3 plays from this year in which his coverage responsibility was botched & directly resulted in an opponent's TD. Then he'd refuse to take responsibility for the mistakes & instead argue with teammates.

Doesn't sound like he'd pick up McD's Defense any better.

I didn't realize the Eagles can't sign him back unless he's on a roster a minimum of 4 games over two years.

Yeah, that's news to me. Yet guess makes sense to avoid possible collusion.

The Texans released C.J. Gardner-Johnson due to friction and dissatisfaction behind the scenes, as he was critical of teammates, complained about his role and desire to blitz more, and had requested a trade, making him a poor fit for the team's direction after a rough 0-3 start to the season.

Saw where people were saying he’s a locker room cancer.

Oh. Okay, don't git'r done...

He was PFF's 13th ranked safety in 2024 so it's not like he is washed. I would like to have a player with that kind of edge on defense. A psycho that makes the opponent hear footsteps, and he would be a great chess piece for our team if not a full time starter.

Then git'r done!!!

Is Gardner-Johnson the problem or is he the canary in the mine?    The Texans are 0-3 because they've sucked on offense, scoring only 4 TDs in 3 games.

If they sucked on offense, why didn't they just fire their Wide Receivers Coach like Atlanta did?

He’s worth the risk with our locker room and if he doesn’t buy in see ya

He's the kind of player I hope the Bills would at least kick the tires on.  Getting him in the building for a workout/sitdown seems like a no brainer.

I’m sure he is … on a team with issues who is underachieving. On a team like the Bills however? A different story might be written.

Git'r done then!!!

He’s a good player but I’m guessing not a great teammate with the way he’s bounced around.  I’d love to see him in Bills uniform but no way I see this staff going that route with Bishop still cutting his teeth.

People say he's a locker room problem and that's probably true, but if the Eagles sign him nobody will bat an eye. He was PFF's 13th ranked safety in 2024 so it's not like he is washed. But realistically there's no chance we will add a player like that.

Yeah but if you approach it right this becomes a positive. I think every Super Bowl team has a couple jerks that you hate to root for.

Anyways it's a moot point. The Bills will not be the team making that call.

Agree. Easy to be a sour puss on the Texans this season.

The Bills are winning though. Everyone's happy when they're winning.

And if it's just for a year, that's all we need.

Based on the schedule, based on how the Chiefs & Ravens look along with their records, this is likely the best opportunity in Allen's career to reach the SB.

If you have an opportunity to improve the weakness of your team towards the purpose of improving your chances at getting to a Super Bowl, you do it. Ask the LA Rams.

Or, it's like most things and it's about the money.

This could give Beane options.  Who is better

He was one of the lowest graded safeties last year according to PFF, and pretty low the year before as well.
