Roundybout Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I was surprised to see McD appear in this NFL Films video on the “death” of the goal line fade. It also has a nice clip of Coleman’s touchdown against the Seahawks last season. Very interesting stuff. 2 4 Quote
Einstein Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) Can’t think of a lower parentage play to try there. Dont like it. Edit: lol, should have watched the video first. They actually mention that, statistically, fades work less often than BROKEN PLAYS do. Edited September 22 by Einstein 4 1 Quote
ColoradoBills Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Never been a fan of the play unless you got a player that really excels at it. 1 Quote
Low Positive Posted September 22 Posted September 22 In those clips of successful fades, you see a lot of WR push-offs. So, I think that the increase in OPI calls has negated the fade to a degree. Quote
T.E. Posted September 22 Posted September 22 "Since 2018 in goal-to-go situations, fade routes rank below broken plays in positive play percentage." Wild stat. 6 1 Quote
transient Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I took 2 things from this - 1. Kellen Moore is smiling, so it had to be shot before the season started 2. I have no clue who the Jags coach is or where he came from 2 Quote

BuffaloBill Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I think the Bills are trying too hard to force balls to Coleman in these situations. OPI is called tighter than when Moss and Megatron played. It’s just harder when you can’t push off. 11 minutes ago, transient said: 2. DapperCam Posted September 22 Posted September 22 In addition to fades being a terrible low percentage play, Allen seems especially bad at them. He never throws the ball high enough. Quote

I can see it in the huddle now: “Broken play on three!” I’m sure the fade is generally a bad choice for most teams, and a worse choice if you have Josh Allen at QB. Give something good a fair chance to happen. 1 Quote
DrMaxPower Posted September 22 Posted September 22 The fade has been a bad play since Calvin Johnson hung up his cleats. Unless you have a total freak show it's a waste. Quote

Was previously with the Toledo Snapdragons - a pee wee powerhouse That hire by the Jags is truly thinking outside the box. Coaching hire pattern in the NFL, is hire someone else’s fired HC, or hire hot coordinator, or hire hot college coach. Turning to pee wee ranks could be genius. Quote
dollars 2 donuts Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I didn't need this video to show me how much I love Mike Evans as a WR. You be stunned at the names of other receivers I would pass up if giving the opportunity to get any receiver I wanted. Stunned. Quote
reddogblitz Posted September 22 Posted September 22 My favorite goal to go situation inside the 5 is on 1st down run it up the gut. If you get in, cool. If not, on 2 nd down run the same play. If you get it cool. If not, bring in the jumbo package with multiple tight ends. One of them blocks, falls down, and then gets up and sneaks in the EZ. The QB fakes the handoff to the RB up the gut and tosses a nice easy pass to the wide open TE in the EZ. Freakin' LOVE that. 1 1 Quote

It always works, especially if the QB bootlegs to the same side as the TE. 1 Quote
