Walker throwing his man to side and getting into Tua's face and tipping the ball is what forced that play. Bernard was on top of it cause Tua starred down the WR the whole time. Great play from both on these men. 9 hours ago, ChronicAndKnuckles said: I thought Tre White had a solid game. Made some key tackles and passes defended. Now that he’s completely over his injury it’s clear that he lost a step, but I think his experience & leadership will prove useful down the stretch. He is what he is at this point which is solid depth, but still a former All Pro that receivers must respect. I would need to see the replays on a couple of those catches Tre let up across the middle they weere short routes, but did Tre have to swim through some traffic and that is why we was a few yards behind the WR 1 Quote
muppy Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Im encouraged reading this thread because his upside is clearly seen as High by posters who really knows football. Having played the game of football as many of you clearly have allows a novice fangirl type like me to learn a Lot. TBD is the BOMB 2 Quote
buffaloaggie Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Pressure from the guys up front always makes the coverage easier, enabling them to jump routes with the QB not having as much time. That said, does McDermott blitz enough? He seems to put a lot of faith in his front four getting to the QB. Bills had no sacks but got pressure on the INT and a few other plays. To me, the Bills D does not get consistent pressure with just the four down linemen. 1 Quote
Dr. K Posted September 19 Posted September 19 9 hours ago, Brand J said: Actually if you look at the play again, his assignment was the running back and he was running into the flat. Bernard sprinted that way to cover him and Tua inexplicably threw the ball to the curl route Dorian Williams was defending, right to Bernard. The offensive design of that play was bad. Tua either has to hold it for Bernard to clear, or throw it to the flat before he gets there. Bernard effectively covered two players. After the game Bernard said that he had been coached to look out for that specific play. He had studied it on tape. He knew the throw was coming and exactly where it was coming to, and I believe he even said that the coach told him, "You better catch it when it comes." 1 1 Quote

The immediate recognition that Waddle was going to run that short route, and the instincts and ability to jump the pattern to seal the game was huge. I think the Bills D until after the bye is going to look like this. Up and down but once we got everyone back, this could be a very, very good group. The rookie got off that ball so quick and caused Tua to throw quick , phenomenal complementary defense, Walker could be 1 of the steals of the draft 1 Quote

Those two combined for just 88 yards on 10 catches. In week 1 Tre didn't play and in week 2 he played 26 snaps (55%). Last night he played 100% of the 61 snaps. Tre was good against the run and had a tackle for a loss. He had a pass defensed. Tre looked better than Benford last night. Tre knows this defense like the back of his hand. He gets guys lined up correctly pre-snap. It'll be awhile before Hairston's a starter for the Bills and that's a bonus. Agree 100%. Tre White knows how to play Tyreek Hill. They have been going against each other since his Kansas City days and were drafted within 1 year of one another. Sometimes you don’t match up speed against speed. 2 Quote
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted September 19 Posted September 19 3 hours ago, eball said: I agree, he made some nice plays. We just can’t expect him to cover a speed receiver running across the flat…he doesn’t have those wheels any more. Can’t wait for Hairston to get in there. The Bills gave up 4.5 yards per play and 250 yards total. There wasn’t a whole lot of butter on that toast. I stated in my OP that he is what is at this point which is solid depth. Hairston is the future, but White is the present. Hopefully, he will be up to speed come play off time. 1 Quote

ChronicAndKnuckles Posted September 19 Posted September 19 (edited) 9 hours ago, QLBillsFan said: Well they don’t respect his speed. He made a few tackles but he got toasted a fair amount. He’s a great depth player and mentor but if he’s starting in the playoffs it’s a bad sign. Great guy great teammate but just a depth player at this stage of his career. Yes. White had an up & down game, but look at the end result. 21 points allowed, 88 combined yards between Hill/Waddle. Those 3rd down conversions by Miami made me want to rip my hair out, but @Joe Marino made a good point. That type of production would probably win most if not all of the games this year. I keep reminding myself that it’s a divisional game against a team that knows us very well. Miami was staring down the barrel of 0-3. Since 1990, only 6 teams have went on to make the playoffs with that record. If Google is correct, the Dolphins have a 2.5% of getting in after their loss. The timing couldn’t be anymore perfect as their schedule gets drastically easier the next 4 weeks. Miami threw the kitchen sink at us and still couldn’t get it done. They were a cornered animal fighting for their playoff hopes. Those are the hardest teams to beat IMO Edited September 19 by ChronicAndKnuckles 1 Quote
Sweats Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It probably didn't help the Fins that Tua was staring him down the whole time..........ole "one read" Tua strikes again. Quote

Is this defense SUPER complicated? Then I heard his interview and his voice was so hoarse. I think the D is too complicated and it’s messing up Cole bishops development Quote

As did Al Holcomb when he broke that play down for him in the film room and told him to be ready for it. Bernard was up to the task. Coaching played a big part in that play- per Bernard Quote
ngbills Posted September 19 Posted September 19 That was more Walker than Bernard. Walker made the play and Bernard was in the right place right time. Team effort. 1 Quote

Idk if that’s one of tua’s quirks that we key in on lol. He was bailing pockets in very strange directions at times cuz the edge defenders were scaring him which forced him into some really difficult throws that should’ve been routine. Quote

You may be right about the step in regards to long speed, but he's making a lot of short area plays that are negatively affecting offenses. I'm very pleasantly surprised by what he's been showing. Yeah I wasn't expecting much out of White, but he has looked good Quote

That's why game planning, scouting, the tape, practices, and in game adjustments are critical pieces to success. McD has been above average in these categories. The results definitely reflect this in the regular season. Not going to go there come playoff time. I think that's very debatable. But not here or now. I also think players makes plays. Play makers make plays. Difference makers make a difference. More specifically, on offense the Bills have Allen and Cook that fall into the above category. On defense, I'm not sure they have that caliber player. This concerns me come playoff time. Hopefully, one or two emerge as the season grows. Go Bills! Quote

Terrell made a huge red zone interception last night against the Dolphins late in 4th quarter. Terrell recovered Henry fumble in the 4th quarter, key play in our comeback against Ravens opener. Terrell sacked Lamar, punched out, and recovered the football, in the 4th quarter against Ravens . Against Chiefs week 11, Terrell had a 4th quarter interception. Terrell consistently making turnovers in huge games. Taron has an impressive list of huge 4th quarter plays, including one of my favorites. This game was so intense, Baltimore was driving, and then….. Quote
stlbills13 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Bernard is pretty darn good against anyone but Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson. Quote
