UConn James Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Buffalo Rumblings is reporting that Josh will be wearing a helmet visor this week vs. Miami after he was hit on the nose Sunday. He was wearing the visor in practice today. Link 2 1 Quote
MJS Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I think all players should wear visors, especially after a player had permanent eye damage from a stray yellow flag thrown from an official. Protect your face! 2 2 1 Quote
Dan Darragh Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) Never understood why football players (except interior linemen) don't use face guards with the extra vertical bar between the eyes Also don't understand why pro hockey players don't wear full face guards like they do in NCAA. (Although I remember the days when nobody including goalies wore helmets and the Amerks had Bobby Perrault playing goalie without even a face mask.) But to the OP's other point, I think we need a detailed video showing all of the handshakes that Josh has with the other players, including slo-mo and reverse angle shots. Even on a short week there are days when there isn't enough football to watch. Preferably with NFL Films music from the 1970s playing in the background. 2 hours ago, Bookie Man said: Keep this man away from firearms. Edited September 17 by Dan Darragh 2 Quote

I think all visors need to be “approved” by the league ahead of the game but I’m not totally sure on this. Or if there is an exemption for injury. Quote

Assuming they even had one available and were allowed to put it on mid-game, I would guess that playing in a visor is different from playing without one (in tersm of perception, etc.) and that they wanted Josh to practice with it on before playing in a real game. 1 Quote

This—seems incredible that the equipment guys couldn’t have scrounged something up during the game for him. The only thing I can figure is since it was an away game maybe one wasn’t packed, and the Jets didn’t volunteer to help? 🤷 Quote
Gugny Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Miami is a dirty, sh*t, team. He’s wise to protect himself against these scumbags. F*ck the Dolphins and their little puke f*ck coach. GO BEELS! 2 1 1 1 Quote

All good points. Id be shocked they didnt have one and that they could not add one based on rules. But they also can't wear their socks the wrong way so you may be right. Josh has worn one before. Not sure if just in practice or in a game. Will be interesting to see if this is just temporary or if his wife will make him wear it permanently...lol 1 Quote

Or if there is an exemption for injury. Not all visors, but anything that is tinted. At least according to the rules. "only 100% clear visors are legal for use in games unless a player has a doctor's note and league approval for a tinted or colored visor due to a medical reason. Referees have the final say, and players must ensure their visor is completely clear and free of any "swag" like logos or lettering. The strict requirement for clear visors allows medical personnel to check players' eyes for injuries without removing their helmet, which is critical in the event of a suspected spinal injury." But in 2019 the league signed a deal with Oakley, so players now have the option to wear Oakley Prizm Clear shields, a lightly tinted visor meant to enhance visual acuity and spatial awareness in players. details found here. 1 Quote

thenorthremembers Posted September 17 Posted September 17 For the all players should wear visors folks, they are great for indoor teams, but they fog up in the cold, and are an absolute pain when it rains or snows. 1 Quote

I would like to disagree with you on this because there are options that you can use for spraying on the visor to prevent the fogging, but I just can't. The fact is, those sprays suck, and they don't work. I have tried them for those chilly mornings when riding my motorcycle, and i still need to leave my visor unlocked and lifted a 1/4 to 1/2 inch to prevent it from fogging up and collecting moisture. It really is a pain. Quote

I'm sure this is a known thing, but i've been putting rainx on my ski goggles for decades and it works wonders for rain/snow/fog 1 1 Quote
