If we lost because we had the same flaws that cause us to lose every January, then yea I'd been concerned that we still haven't addressed key problems. If there were tough bounces in a hard fought loss to high end teams? Not so much. Frankly, I still feel nervous about our week 1 game against the Ravens, as I feel the game script and results were very similar to the playoff win last year and both times we needed a tremendous amount of luck to bounce our way to get out with a win. Whether or not we won in Week 1 was less interesting to me than the lack of answers we had for their rushing attack. This time of year, getting better is my primary focus. If youre saying that we got some luck go our way to pull out a close game then sure week 1 and the playoffs were similar (along with every close game). But the game scripts were opposites to me. We had a solid lead for much of the playoff victory and they were playing catchup. In week 1 it was the opposite and we were playing catch up the whole time. This defense is still figure itself out so Im not fretting about the run defense yet and will let it play out more before i do worry. I agree getting better is the primary focus; so do you also feel better after the run defense we showed yesterday? Quote

FTLBillsfan Posted September 15 Posted September 15 All this is irrelevant though. As long as Kelce and Taylor Swift are together, the NFL will do just about anything possible to assure the Chiefs are in the Super Bowl for the ratings bump. 1 Quote

They also had that one piss job game against the titans late in the season that really screwed them. Not sure if you remember that Monday night game when they were up two scores with like 3 to go and lost Edited September 15 by BillsFan130 Quote

The NFL better get this addressed before we play them. And better not wait until after the Eagles beat us in the playoffs (Super Bowl) to fix it like they've historically done. I personally hate the Tush Push. The low camera angles yesterday showed just how bad it is. At least one Eagle lineman blasting forward on every play before the ball moves. Talking to a coworker today, he had a very good idea. Not sure if it was his, or he heard it somewhere. The idea is for a defensive lineman fake an injury on every Tush Push play. Get the injury stats up because there are some that say that injuries piling up is the only sure way to get the rule changed. 1 Quote

PoundingDog Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Watch them trying to trade Tyreek Hill back if they get to 4/5 losses and the offense continues to sputter. There is mutual desire between Hill and the Chiefs. Whenever the Dolphins inevitably get to a state to decide to rebuild by Nov 4. The Hill contract is not tradeable but it can be worked out for sure. Quote
aristocrat Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Chiefs gonna get rice back and that should help them. Their defense is still good 1 Quote

Their defense is their bread and butter now and has been. They’ll be in a lot of tight low scoring games. Their question is can they continue to win the 1 score games that they have historically done in the past. So far 0-2 but to two solid to good football teams, Also, they were a couple of plays from winning the game yesterday...Kelce's INT in the endzone was a killer play. 2 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted September 15 Posted September 15 They're like the Emperor, except they feed off our mocking instead of our anger. In the same way I never did an MC Hammer dance when my last child announced she. was leaving home until I saw the bus pull away, I'm not celebrating the demise of the Chiefs until I see them eliminated from the playoffs and get a nice fat close up of Travis Kelce crying into his beard hair Quote

People said the same things about NE, and yet in January they were always there. None of these games matter. I threw dirt on the Patriots' casket way too many times. I do not think the Chiefs are "done". However, their margin for error has never been smaller since the rest of their Division has gotten themselves going. You also have two teams in the conference who are objectively better than they are right now. Starting in an 0-2 hole is tough. It seems like over this run, they have enjoyed a lot of breaks (many of them self-made). How good will the Chiefs be in January when they are forced to play into week 18 and also play Wild Card Weekend? Then forced to win maybe three away games before the Superbowl? dorquemada Posted September 15 Posted September 15 One thing I noticed yesterday was that every play KC made that went for more than 5 yards, they celebrated like they'd won the super bowl. Kelce worst of the group. He seems to be a shadow of his former self and there's really nobody on that O besides Mahomes that are real stars at this point. Quote
DapperCam Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I think KC will be playing on wild card weekend this season, and some team in their division will make it a real battle for the division this year. 1 Quote
CirclnWagons Posted September 15 Posted September 15 No doubt the chiefs will be in the thick of things come playoff time but I did take wayyy too much pleasure in how upset THEIR fans got on a missed call yesterday. The reality of the national football league hits much harder when your team doesn’t have a 12th man on the field wearing an officiating uniform Quote
HappyDays Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Last time they got blown out in the Super Bowl they had a down year the following year. Mahomes in particular - that year he had a stretch of games where he played like absolute garbage and then single handedly gave away the AFCCG to Cincy. I wondered before the season if something similar might happen this year. Not going to count them out by any means, and they'll be better when Rashee Rice comes back, but they have some pretty fundamental issues on both sides of the ball. They have no run game, weak pass catching group, the IOL has taken a step back. On defense they have one better than JAG secondary player and a middling front four. The one thing saving them from total dysfunction is they still have the best all around coaching staff and Mahomes has made some magic happen. But Mahomes' on schedule play has been below his standard this year. I've seen him miss way too many throws that he usually hits. He's so good escaping the pocket and making something happen off schedule that he's been able to get away with it to some extent, but over the course of an entire game it isn't a sustainable style of play. And this year they don't have the clutch defense that was making up for some of the offensive struggles last year. 2 Quote
