They made history last season with 30 pass and 30 run TDs in a season.  He’s doing something right.  I think people miss the 2021 offense.  That was an insane passing offense.

It is interesting that Brady never has run a trick play. The 49 snow toss td was ad hoc. I’m not complaining but it is a point of difference

He Ran one trick play against the ravens last year in week 4 and it almost got Josh killed

The pass game today was not good.  Josh was rushing things and felt uncomfortable in the pocket, guys dropping passes, OL got pushed around.  Look, this pass O did well in that 4th quarter against the Ravens, but it hasn't been consistently good through 8 quarters so far.  Still early in the year.  I don't like how easily teams clamp/slow us down when they play man coverage against us.  That shouldn't be a good game plan against us with Allen at Qb, and yet it is.  We face more man coverage last year than any other team in the league, make of that what you will.

I get it to a point.  The game was boring.  But the game wasnt boring because of the Bills.  The game was boring because the Jets never got off the bus.  They were horrid.   Why bother putting your QB in danger when the other team cant stop your run game and their offense was designed for Otto Graham.   The Jets arent in the Bills league.  Just win and get out of there without injuries.

The Jets played it too safe.  They needed to rack up points, they were playing Josh Allen.  Instead they played conservative, even when down by 3 scores, they punted on a critical 4th and 2 at midfield.

I expected more from the Jets but after seeing this game I think we could have hung 45-50 points on them if we had to.   Instead we played the clock and got to rest some players for Thursday night.

Would love to see him incorporate a jump pass with Josh. 3rd or 4th and short, Josh in shotgun, starts to run up the middle, stop  and then short easy throw. Not sure how the D defends something like that.

Or a pseudo option play on a sweep with Cook.

Continue to put the D in precarious positions.

He doesn’t call an exciting offense and the passing game bogs down until the Bills are trailing, but we’re getting production when it matters most. As I said in another thread, there’s no need to run Josh Allen on 2nd and 9 from midfield. Let the RBs bang into the OL, let Josh pass, or scramble if it’s there. That’s what you’re paying him $55M to do. I don’t need to see him get seriously injured before the designed runs stop. Save that for the playoffs in the redzone.

Those are fair points, but I also think we have seen a pretty big sample size from Joe Brady (and McDermott) that this is who the bills want to be.

They want a slug fest and they want to be a very balanced run/pass team

They punted a few times where I didnt understand what they were doing.  Then I saw Aaron Glenn's rolled up sweatpants and it made sense.

I dont think thats true at all.  I think they let the game, and the flow of the game dictate the play calls.   They arent some smash mouth, will only run it football team.   They want to control the line of scrimmage which is smart.  But they arent above throwing it 10 times in a row if thats what he game dictates.

Go back to the Denver game from last years playoffs to now. (So 5 games in a row and even before that )

It has been very tight to the chest with a lot of running, short passes etc.

The last time I feel like the bills really opened up an offensive game script, was the Lions game

If he wants to run Josh, do it in the redzone, not on some 2nd and long.  Our run game is good, mostly because the OL is better, and Kromer is one of the best, if not the best, OL coach in the league.  Also, for a team that runs as well as we do, we do not playaction enough, near the bottom of the league.  When Daboll was here our run game wasn't great, but we playactioned more than most team, top 5 consistently.  When we do play fake it doesnt seem convincing too, not like Daboll who was moving guards around on PA to really open things up and confuse defenses.  I miss that stuff.

I have questions about  Samuel, that's about it.

The only reason why Samuel is still here is mostly because his contract is uncuttable for this year. My guess is he’ll be inactive if/when there is an injury to a WR . Beyond that expect him to be released after the season is over

We’re scoring points, so I can’t complain too much—but doesn’t it feel like we have a lot of predictable 2nd-down runs that go nowhere and start slow? Came back strong vs. the Ravens, but it’d be nice to open things up earlier. Against the Jets it didn’t matter, but I’m still waiting to see more schemed explosive plays in the passing game, especially early. Similar issues as last year. What do you guys think?

Annual fire Brady thread?

I think Brady is trying to make the best of an underwhelming group of pass catchers. The pass protection also has not been as strong as it was last year. If anyone is expecting a bombs away offense that just isn't realistic. Our offense is built to run the ball, control clock, and wear down the opposing defense so we can open it up in the 4th quarter if we need to.

Joe Brady will be a head coach after this season if we keep putting up numbers like this game after game.

He runs an QB friendly system and has shown how to manufacture yards in a variety of ways.

He might not call a perfect game but a lot of the Bills success on offense is because he’s not like Ken Dorsey.

We just played two excellent defensive lines. I expect the pass protection to improve just by virtue of who we are playing down this stretch.
