I hope they can make an equally good find now at cornerback, as they are in almost desperate need. He costs the vet minimum as far as cap goes. His Jags contract had offset language, so I believe they are paying him $11M this season. Literally the definition of a low risk move with a potential for a high reward. 2 1 Quote

Shavers offers very solid special teams as well as improved boundary WR Skills. Just judging as a boundary WR (and let's say both are 100%), hard call on who is the better player but I'd lean towards Gabe unless Shavers goes off early in the year. I agree get Gabe healthy and if can play he might replace Moore or Samuel as a depth WR. Quote
Homey D. Clown Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I have an idea, let's bring back all the players we haven't beaten the chiefs or bengals with in the playoffs, that'll get it done. brilliant. 1 1 1 1 Quote

Do practice squad players count like that? Because he's getting something like $20k/week on the PS. I think he only counts against cap and at vet min if we activate him. No? 1 minute ago, Homey D. Well, Beane did try to sign Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis to the practice squad but turns out theyre under contract with the Eagles, so... 🤷♂️ 1 1 Quote

Why would we bring him back, even to the Practice Squad? He was responsible for half a dozen INTs in 2023 with lazy routes, drops, and miscommunications. Cuz now we have him in a lesser role because we have better WRs than we had then. Toss in he's had better numbers than Elijah Moore in his career. 1 Quote
FLFan Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I am ok with signing him to the practice squad and him being an emergency option kind of player, but right now I do not see him as an obvious upgrade to our WR group and would rather see that group moving forward. 1 Quote

So guess you're advocating we move on from Josh because "he" hasn't beat KC or Cincy in the playoffs? 1 1 Quote

boyst Posted September 2 Posted September 2 think back to that year we had him. he was the #2 but he played like the #3 or #4. I think he can be great at #3-4. Just like McKenzie was the best WR off the bench at #5 or #4 when pressed. In the right package the right players can make a big difference. The Giants showed this with Arch Manning's Uncle, Eli Manning. 1 Quote

I meant more if he was activated, we wouldn't be on the hook for any crazy number. 1 1 Quote

Steptide Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I like having alot of veteran guys on the Ps. Hopefully, if they have to play, it's not for an extended period of time. I like the logic of having alot of experienced guys who know they system behind the starters Quote
Artem Lipatov Posted September 2 Posted September 2 He had 4 TDs in playoffs game vs Chiefs (including 4th & long). He could be a hero here unless "13 seconds". If Bills win SB this season, he deserves to be part of that team Quote

But this isnt some tricky, secret formula Beane is using. ALL teams have 6 veteran slots on the PS to use. It's just logical that teams who have been good over the last 5 years bring back good players from those good teams. Bad teams have no reason to re-try the same crappy players. The Chiefs have guys like Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Mike Edwards on their PS. The Eagles have known vets Marcus Epps and Parry Nickerson. Ravens have a bunch of guys they've had around for a while. We're just too focused and tunnel-visioned on the Bills around here. 2 Quote
