H2o Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Tough for the young man. I hope he makes a full recovery. That being said, I don't thing he was going to contribute any meaningful minutes unless he had taken a big step forward. I hadn't seen any reports from camp or play in the Preseaon to suggest that he has. Still, you hate to lose your depth guys because they are just one play away from being forced into meaningful action. 1 Quote
NoSaint Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) Seems like a good guy, so hate to see it - but this is very possibly the end of his bills career. Maybe even his nfl career. He doesn’t have much good tape, and even 2026 isn’t going to be great for him as he will still be recovering and lacking athleticism if he does get another shot. That leaves him a 4th year mid round pick with bad tape before he’s 100%? Edited September 1 by NoSaint 1 Quote

The 2022 class yielded 2 key starter (Cook and T. Bernard) and a miss (Elam)-which was accounted for with a 6th round hit (Benford) The 2023 class yielded 2 starters (Kincaid, Cybo) and a key rotational player (Dorian Williams) The 2024 class is your this year's starting wide receiver and safety (Coleman and Bishop) and your DL5 who we'll call a miss. That's 8 starters out of 12 picks and Dorian Williams (one of my favorites). We pick near the last of each round. Round 3 picks are near #100. But narratives are fun and don't require facts. 7 1 1 2 4 Quote

zow2 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I’ve already mentioned how devastating it is for the man personally. He may never be able to prove himself and he seemed like a great dude and fun person. But i’m sorry to say the pick is likely another bust on Beane’s resume. 1 Quote
MikePJ76 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Bummer. Not shocked at all to see the general opinion here is ahh who cares he sucks. I still have and had hope for him. Quote
JakeFrommStateFarm Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Why did Beane draft a player from Duke ? Nothing good will ever come from that Quote

Unless he is the toughest human of all time you don't simply walk off the field. Might as well all be paid NFL employees at this point. Just an extension of the Bills PR department. The practice was most likely closed to the media. Quote

I was thinking about the past three years and see it different. 2025 Hairston is hurt and who knows when he will contribute. Sanders and Jackson may get rotational snaps. 2024 Coleman and Bishop are both fringe starters. They don’t progress this year and both could be upgraded next season. Carter is out for the year and was fighting to see the field anyway. 2023 Torrence is the best pick of these years in terms of being a legit starter. Kincaid has not been anywhere close to what he was expected to be. Williams is just a jag. My point was this is a Super Bowl favorite and not one of these picks from the last three years has been a home run or even a triple. Mostly single and doubles. Maybe Kincaid or Coleman break out this year. A legit start would be make this team that much more scary. 1 1 1 1 Quote

Outside of the garbage I see on Facebook, people don't usually report fake stories that someone tore their achilles & is out for the season, especially a guy who outside of Bills Mafia is pretty obscure to the general public. Albany, you're a good poster but I don't fully agree with you here. It's amazing how much crap is posted on this board... many people these days are completely gullible to fake stories and don't question the credibility of sources. Like @chris heff, I immediately questioned the veracity of the story for the same reasons... every report cited Jordan Schultz as the source, meaning that no one was corroborating it. Not being familiar with Jordan Schultz I was not ready to accept the report. One looks more foolish by accepting and even worse, commenting (and overreacting) on fake stories which do appear on these pages. 1 Quote

Just so you know the big bad Chiefs in that same period; 2021: Traded a 1rst round pick for average Orlando Brown who is no longer on the team 2022: Drafted Sky Moore in the 2nd round 2023: Drafted Feliz-Anduike-I NEVER PLAY in the first round and Wanya Morris in the 3rd 2024: Drafted Kingsley Suamataia (barely saw the field last year) in the 2nd round And that's not to mention Claude Edwards Helaire in the first round the year before. As for home runs and triples, like the Chiefs, we have our hits. If Spencer Brown isn't a triple in the 3rd, and Cook isn't a triple in the 2nd, I don't know what to tell you. 1 1 Quote

Dillenger4 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I guess we will see Walker a lot more behind Phillips. I don't mind that scenario. Hope Carter can recover well and get back to football. Quote
bearstobills Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Just now, mannc said: Not to mention Christian Benford in the sixth round… ngbills was talking about the first 3 rounds. Beane has to be one of the best day 3 drafters out there. That's where he got Taron Johnson, Christian Benford, Khalil Shakir, Ray Davis, Tylan Grabel, Wyatt Teller, SVP, Javon Solomon, Gabe Davis. And look out for Hancock, Deone Walker, Dorian Strong, Jackson Hawes, etc. In no way am I arguing that he doesn't have his misses. He does. But, and this is a tough one to grasp, two things can be true simultaneously. 1.) Beane has continually displayed a good eye for talent across the draft, free agency, and in trades. AND 2.) He's made some missteps along the way that he'd like to have back. But there's one thing we can't argue; The Bills have a top 3 record in the NFL since he took over. And don't give me the "It's all Josh Allen" crap. If that were the case Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert would be in the playoffs every year. And both of those teams struggle. 1 Quote

I think he'd be just fine with Coleman and Kincaid. You speak as if both Coleman and Kincaid are bad players. I have high hopes for both. Quote
BarleyNY Posted September 1 Posted September 1 If I had to choose one of the Bills 53 to have a season ending injury the day after cut downs, Carter would’ve been in my top 5. Seems like barely any real loss for the team. Quote
benderbender Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Feel awful for him. I assume that being drafted 95th overall weighs heavy on him. Add to that they drafted heavy this year, you'd think that he was driven to show his worth this season especially. Quote

Hard to believe with the Ravens in 7 days the team has the weekend off. They’re busy putting together puff pieces or rehashing training camp news from a week ago. They pretty much suck. Stick with some of the more well known podcast guys for better information Quote
