Cubanmist 1 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just wondering if after all of the players that Bills released why Carter is still on the roster. I know this is his second year, and cost us a 3rd round pick, but we are stacked at that position. He has to have value, right? Most rookies don’t show out until year 3 when the game begins to slow down. Quote
NeverOutNick Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Who’s going to want him? He’s shown nothing thus far except for being a good dude that dresses professionally. 1 2 Quote
JohnBonhamRocks Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Maybe a 7th in a year or two but not even sure a team will want to pay that. Perhaps they will trade him closer to the deadline when our suspended guys return. Quote
Shortchaz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Got a 10 snap pitch count for defensive tackles this year. Quote
BillsShredder83 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) For whatever the return is, id rather hold on and develop the guy. What drastically changed in 1 year since we deemed him worthy of a 3rd??? Nothing. He had a rough year, and was hurt. 12mos isn't enough of a look for a guy you drafted this high. Do we have *ANY* faith in our DL coaches that they can develop anyone? That's the bigger problem IMO!! There's no bonus points for giving up on a guy too early. For what we'd get in return: probably swapping a 7th & 6th, id rather try to sneak him on IR or the PS. That's a premium pick, you made the selection, giving up on a guy is stupid unless we found out he's smoking Crack or GHB'ing ladies drinks on Chippewa. I wonder if we need to reevaluate our scheme. Just run a scheme where you get a bunch of big bodies up front, not these small penetration guys— I feel like we would miss less on draft picks with that sort of scheme. 1 1 Quote
SCBills Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I wouldn’t just give him away, which is what this probably would be right now. Give him 6 weeks to show something and then decide what to do when Ogunjobi comes back. 4 Quote

ganesh Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Also, who would have taken over him in the 90-man roster? Quote
BarleyNY Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The chance (however small or large) that he develops as a player is worth more to us than anything another team would give us for him now. 1 1 Quote
DJB Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago He’s a bust. Move on and give the roster spot to someone more deserving. 1 Quote
SCBills Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just now, DJB said: He’s a bust. Move on and give the roster spot to someone more deserving. Who? Hes already probably fallen to DT5 and potentially inactive on Gamedays. We have Jordan Phillips on the PS and a vet in Ogunjobi coming back Week 7. He gets six weeks to show he’s worth cutting Ogunjobi loose and provides depth in the meantime. The best case trade scenario for him is sending out him and a 6th to get a 5th or something. Just keep him… DT depth isn’t exactly easy to come about in-season. Quote
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Why not wait 6 weeks? People get injured. Quote

RyanC883 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago i think the plan is just to hang onto him as a backup, hope he develops, and if not and antoher backup is available, pick up that guy. 2 Quote

I agree after 1 yr, they probably give him a chance on the roster... but I think they are quick to pull the trigger next year and or make a trade in season if the offer is right... Quote
uticaclub Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Unless you are getting a Day 2 safety or corner that also needs a “change in scenery” Quote
LarryMadman Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Don't understand the hate for Carter. He was showing and playing well before his wrist injury last year. That injury would hamper his weight lifting, and blocker shedding for a while. I dont think he is nearly as awful as some her think he is, plus he is on a cheap rookie contract. 2 Quote

If he gets his ass kicked vs Baltimore he could be in trouble. Phillips was better than Carter last year. I dont think Carter improved to a level where he is better than Phillips this year. Quote
