Brian Robinson Jr reportedly headed to the Niners.  Odd trade for both sides - Commanders with big playoff aspirations and Niners just traded away Mason who was one the most productive backs in the league last year when he started for them.

That's a solid pickup for SF.

What the heck is Washington doing at the RB position? They now only have Ekeler & a rookie 7th rounder. They seem likely to take a step back this year.

The rookie is rumored to start. Can get him late for fantasy purposes, but he's really impressed. Eckler will have a role on 3 rd downs and they have Chris Rodriguez, who will be used on a lot of goal line/short yardage situations. Sounds like a true committee backfield and they really weren't interested in paying Robinson.

Hes g2 be coming up in contract, where they know they cant/wont retain him. Especially if theyre trying to finagle room for Scary Terry.

*Edit* Second thought, isn't he from the DC Area and got shot rookie off season. I never heard anything about him being a part of anything shady, but maybe hes got some street beefs for affiliating (or refusing to affiliate) with the wrong crowd.

Fully speculative, but reasonable question IMO. #2 could be fully off base, or it could be some combo of thought #1&2

Here's one to keep an eye on....

Why would Carolina do this is my question.  You have a pretty make or break year with a young guy you took #1 overall, who looked to have righted the ship last year.  Year 3 was the year Josh went from an interesting player, to obvious franchise piece.  No way Id part with Thielen, a guy who he had great chemistry with, if Im Carolina.  Whats the upside of a Thielen Trade? 6th rounder? Nah, beat feet Minny

Don’t the Bills have right of first refusal with anything the Panthers do?

I wouldn’t do it either since Thielen is a safety valve safe option for Young but Minnesota probably sees a team that has a young WR corps that the Panthers want to develop and would open up another spot for a youngster while adding another draft pick

The 49ers are just trying to acquire all of the gunshot survivors. It's an interesting strategy but maybe the thinking is, "hey we need some guys with experience when the proverbial bullets start flying on the field."

From something called the NFL Daily:

Signing Thielen in 2023 as a shepherd for incoming rookie Bryce Young was an inspired move, with Thielen reviving his career as the Panthers' top receiving option. But Carolina has also insulated the position heavily the past two years, and Thielen is celebrating his 35th birthday this week. With young receivers such as Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker and Jimmy Horn Jr. in need of touches, do the Panthers still need Thielen? A reunion with Minnesota is one possibility; the Vikings are exploring trade options at wide receiver amid the injuries they've suffered at the position.

Curious if the Bills kick the tires on Kyle Dugger, S, NE or Damarris  Mathis, CB, Denver or Beanie Bishop Jr, CB, Pitt who all are potential trade/cut candidates.

Agreed. Robinson even looks faster than he did at Alabama, I and I know this would not seem possible. He is still far from a speedster, but; he is very strong with a head of steam and is a vicious blocker.

He is actually doing a little better in the NFL than I expected.

This sounds to be right up their alley.

Could be looking to get some cash for a mclaurin bonus?  Or just didn't expect robinsons contributions to match his compensation.  I think Mcnichols is still there too.

Nobody is trading for Dugger's contract. If he's cut he's a vested veteran, is not subject to waiver claims, and can immediately sign wherever he wants to.

Bishop and Mathis would be subject to waivers meaning the Bills would likely need to trade something for them.

Robinson Jr. isn't all that great.  Very replaceable and the 7th round rookie from Arizona looks dynamic and they have Ekeler too.

If the Commanders drop off just check out the QB's they beat last season.  Like 10 of their wins were against the bottom of the barrell QBs.

hoping the Pats cut Duggar......

the Safety position being ignored is upsetting.

Benford can't make up for the complete disaster of Bishop and Damar right now.  Not to mention CB2 is probably average at best

The solution may be to start Hancock and hope he gets good in a hurry.   Looks to have the "it" factor IMO

49ers injuries make the Bills look healthy. They basically have the entire WR and RB room out with the exception of Pearsall and CMC.

Safety seems like a long transition in this defense. It might make adding one from the outside unlikely.
