No, he doesnt. He had TWO good games in the postseason out of 7 he played in. The last game he was 2/34 (Cincy).

I know...but he blocked so well....

Wow! I had this memory in my head of him being amazing in the playoffs. I guess it was based on the KC game.

Aside from that one outlier game vs teh Chiefs, his playoff averages are as follows:

4 Targets per game

2.3 catches per game

45 yards per game

0.3 TDs per game

It makes no sense. Are we that bad?

At WR? Yes.

Shakir is our only consistent WR, and he's most dangerous in the slot. Then again, so is Samuel... and Kincaid... and Moore... and even Cook 😆

Can we just lineup everyone in the slot?

Oh good...cant wait for all the "but he blocks" takes.

He wasn't even that great of a blocker.

Hey, Gabe Davis is a good 3rd/4th option. You just don't want him as a 1 or 2. If we can get him back for cheap, it wouldn't hurt.

WTF?

Well, which way is it EXACTLY Brandon?

You’re totally cool with the WR room- as you STATED previously,

OR

having not grabbed ANY decent additional talent for Josh, you’re now sharding yourself!

Secondly….

weren’t Reed, Loftin or Moulds available?

Anyone see Curtis Samuel today.... or this year?  I have no idea what the dead cap hit is on this bust but if he gets a roster spot either the dead cap is too much or he has pictures of somebody LOL...  These signings are what makes me question Beane sometimes... but the bottom line is I honestly would rather have Gabe than throw the 1 yard pass to CS at the line of scrimmage to get him blown up ...

TBD: Do something about the WR room and bring in someone else!

Beane brings in WR's to work out

Also TBD: Why are you bringing in WR's to look at and potentially sign!

This is where i'm at.  I know there are limited savings even as a post 6/1 - but he's missed a ton of camp for the last 2 years, and was on the injury report 6x last year.  Had a couple of TDs in the playoffs but like 20+% of his catches came in the finale last year.

I think we might take a cap hit if we cut him.  You would have to add the hit plus what we would pay Davis.  Is that last spot worth all the money?

I have zero issue with bringing Gabe back in a depth role.  However, the guy only caught 51% of his targets over his career in Buffalo.  He is an upgrade over Samuel and Moore at this point and we know he can get down field and block.  Having him at WR 4 is fine.  How cheap will he sign as the Bills have zero cap space?

By the way, Samuel's cap hit if cut is $12 million.  If he is gifted a roster spot his cap hit in only $9.  Maybe there is some way to do an injury settlement and get rid of his negative cap hit.  Moore cost 2.5 to keep or let go.

Not a huge Gabe fan... but I am even less of a Samuel fan... at least Gabe has some size.. 4th 5th guy... ok... But the sheer cap issue as you have layed it out with Samuel makes it totally cost prohibitive to cut him... like how you gonna work that.. its a bust all the way around.

Watching a dude go back to his x because he's desperate is not the sign of good things.

Watching an X take them back because they are desperate is as bad... the two together... I dunno... but its STILL probably better than Samuel...  but I dont think the money is gonna work out I think Samuel is on this team.

Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about this, in several ways. I mostly wonder what him being on the team would do to Josh, even on a subconscious level. Even if he isn't consciously thinking it in the moment, the psyche and the body will both remember the critical Gabe Davis drops.

Its after june so his 2026 bonus is eaten in 2026.  But still like no 2025 savings - so the replacement likely costs more.

Gabe just turned 26.  The knee is my concern but he should be fully healed by now.  If Beane believes he's an upgrade at the WR4 position then he'll sign him.

Yeah - like no interest in the FA market and not being in anyones camp isn't a good sign either.  Could be league min and PS to try and get on the field later if people are injured.

I just don't like how clear it is a sign of a downgrade. We project how good or bad our roster is and in my view, a lot of people project it to be better than it actually is. But when we make a decision to part ways with a player, then another team makes that same decision, then that player circles back to us, older. That is a clear sign to me of getting worse. Teams need new energy, new blood, new competition. Running it back is a very rarely a good thing.
