You can believe what you want. It was exactly a negotiation. It might not of been how you wanted it to be done, but it was him telling everyone what his opening number was.

I didn't dislike Highline, but didn't love it as much as some other areas.

Lots of road noise on the first half and way too many people, even starting before 6am. 

If I get out there again before the dirtnap, I'd make a point of being at the top of the pass and rolling by 5:15ish.

According to Spotrac, this year's $5.6M guaranteed was altered by the contract.

They have him as a $3.5M cap hit this season.  The only carry over from his rookie deal seems to be the $355k chunk of his amortized rookie signing bonus for 2025.

 

Guaranteed money is a new $9M signing  bonus, this seasons $1.28M salary, and part of his 2026 salary.
I don't like the way Spotrac lists it - his 2026 salary is $2.01M base plus a $7.4M option bonus the team can amortize if they choose (Spotrac assumes they will choose).  $5M of that $9.41M is guaranteed now, and the rest is injury-guaranteed now but fully guarantees early next Feb.

So right now, as best I can tell, Cook has $15.28M that is fully guaranteed now, plus an additional $13.54M that is injury guaranteed now but will fully guarantee in increments ($4.4M Feb 2026, $6.22M of 2027 salary the 5th day of the 2026 league year, then an additional $2.91M of 2027 salary the 5th day of the 2027 league year).

 

Cook collects $10.28M in new, guaranteed money this season - which is a lot more than $5.6M.    He has an additional $5M of 2026 salary guaranteed to him right now, plus $18.4M in injury guarantees of future salary right now.

 

It's a much better deal for Cook than playing out the final year of his rookie contract and guarantees his future financial security, but it's also a pretty well structured deal for the Bills.

Right now the cap number is based on the top 51 contracts, and there are ~90 players on the team. At least a few guys with $1M contracts will get cut and we'll be right back under cap by a few mil when its all said and done.

 

We wont have much room to do anything. But we'll be compliant.

I also wouldn't rule out something like a Curtis Samuel trade for cap dump. If I read the math right trading him would free up $7 million and be the roster spot that we use to keep Shavers and we swap late round picks

One of my favorite places on earth. I still remember the first time I visited, I was driving from RIT to California to drop off a car for a friend the week after I completed grad school. My girlfriend at the time and I camped out and hiked at national parks across the country on that trip. That early fall day at Glacier we took a boat across a lake with a bunch of other visitors and we wandered off up the bank to the top of a nearby hill. By the time we came down, the boat had left and it was getting dark and we'd just walked past fresh grizzly tracks. We high tailed it around the lake - maybe 2.5 miles in all - running through the woods making as much noise as we could. No sign of a bear but the rangers did put up warnings the day we got back about bears getting close to hikers on the area. Eventful trip. Great memories.

Same here. My HS bud and I reconnected one summer when we were home from college. Bought an old '69 VW bus for $350, rebuilt the engine and drove it around the country for 10 weeks. Knew nothing of GNP, but fell in love with the place the first night next to Lake McDonald.  We ended up spending two full weeks in Glacier with plenty of backpacking. One of my most favorite places on Earth.

The -$28M is based on all 82 contracts against the $279M cap. If you look one more column to the right, they have the "Active 53" total. That comes in at about $270M against the $279M cap.

Well yeah, but the "only Active 53 counts" lasts for what, 8 days? before everyone on the team has to fit under the cap - dead cap, 53 man, IR, PS right?
