Chiefs George Karlaftis extended - 4 years, $93 Million

I thought Rousseau's extension was a bit of an overpay. I feel the same about this one. Karlaftis gets $3.25M more AAV and an extra $8M guaranteed compared to Rousseau. Not a bad deal, just fine for a good but not great player.

We reached for need this draft with Elam ranked 47th on Daniel Jeremiah’s board.

 

Karlaftis was ranked 19th

 

Beane and company need to stop getting cute and telegraphing our picks round 1 taking the most obvious need and stick to best player available.

A guy gets a new contract on another team, and it takes 3 posts to get around to Beane. Who had 3 in the pool? I think Vegas had the over/under at 3.5.

He is so right though... Beane needs to show improvement on defense and the moves he is making are moves that will get us over the hump.

Because Beane is the only one who makes mistakes in the draft….. 

 

I’d rather talk about the current cost of DEs (or eggs) right now rather than do the whole Beane argument again. Sorry I had a reflex post.

im so confused as to how this is Beane’s fault that Karloftis got paid

Kind of an overpay to me. 8 sacks per season average is marginally better than Epenesa, and he has Chris Jones demanding all of the attention to his benefit.

Seems like a bit of an overpay. His pass rush number per PFF seems better than I would have expected. Id say Groot still has more upside but also disappears for long stretches of games/seasons compared to a more consistent Karlaftis.
