He returned to the game after the initial shoulder injury and only missed time once the shoulder became infected. It wasn’t a typical football injury - he developed a serious infection that likely stemmed from a pain-numbing injection, which led to a multi-week recovery.

I wouldn’t describe that as simply “being hurt his senior year at Kentucky.” It was a rare and unfortunate medical situation, not a reflection of durability. Prior to that, he had only missed one game in his entire college career. It’s akin to saying Tyrod Taylor is injury prone because the Chargers team doctor punctured his lung before a game.

How are people gonna jump to unconfirmed conclusions when you go and present facts and context, what a killjoy…,

Rasul definitely hit a wall if there wasn’t some unreleased injury. Plus, I think a lot of folks here are focusing on Dane Jackson’s performance away from the team more than his performance in McDermott’s scheme. He’s a serviceable backup on this squad. Tre I’m not so sure about. I’m honestly surprised they brought him back, but if he can be a coach on the field for these rookies during camp and the preseason there’s some hidden value.

It's right there in the injury report.  He injured his back against the Rams in December.  Missed two games, played the week after, limited snaps week 18 when we were resting folks.

I dunno about you, but when I've injured my back, 4 weeks out is when it starts to improve from screaming at me constantly no matter what I do, to allowing me to sit politely in certain positions and stand politely, and only screaming at me when I go from one to the other.  By 6 weeks out I can walk OK if I'm smooth and careful and the screaming my back does has improved to a sharp yelp or 3.

Football players are a different breed, but I don't think you need a magnifying glass to connect the dots there.

Forgot that he injured his back. Honestly, back injuries were pretty quick recoveries for me when I was his age…. Now though…. Just give me the old yeller treatment and put me out of my misery. Though to be fair, at this point of my life I have to wrap up my joints like Kareem in 88’ just to mow the lawn.

Last minicamp practice is today. Update from Matt Parrino on Hairston:

Quote

Maxwell Hairston was nowhere to be found during the first 6 periods of today's practice. He just walked out to the field with a trainer during period 7 about 2/3 the way through practice. He seemed to be walking ok and had a hoodie on under his jersey. Didn't expect much today after that injury and it's a good sign that he's out here at all. I've seen it in the past where guys with lower body injuries might not be out here the next day. Hoping to get an update on him from Brandon Beane.

Apologizing to the board in advance... At some point during the season I am going to confuse Dorian Williams and Strong... I just freaking know it....  like what defense has two guys named Dorian for crissakes... LOL

If you think that's challenging, the Oklahoma City Thunder (roster of 15) have Jalen Williams and Jaylin Williams.

At least he's walking under his own power so that's a good sign hopefully its just that he tweaked something and with some rest and a little rehab he'll be good to go ...

Its remarkable how much of an effect that December injury had on his performance in weeks 1 through 15.

I’ve said it for years….. these rookies train hard prior to their last year of college football. Play an entire season which can be 12-14+ games. After season the immediately do senior bowl or bowl games, train harder for the combine. Training further for pro days. Then get drafted right into rookie mini camp then OTAs.

I have always thought the draft should be first week of April vs last. Let them get drafted and have a solid month off prior to rookie mini camp.

Just feel like for some of the higher ranked college athletes they go non stop for 16-18 months, no time off. At least the veterans in the NFL get 3-4 weeks off away from the field, light work outs, vacation etc

Im saying the wear and tear of rookies due to non stop pushing adds up

He's going to have injury issues. He was hurt at Kentucky his senior year. Very small frame, said to be a fairly physical tackler. I just don't see the durability here. Time will tell.

Are you sure ?

Our inside British draft source made no mention that he's injury prone

A hamstring pull isn't ideal though...the fact it sounds like he's walking ok is good, maybe it really was a tiny pull that doesn't make future ones more likely

I'm not too intrigued.

Even if Tre White had stayed healthy for his entire career he would be aging out at CB.

He could get healthier and worse at the same time.

Hopefully they cancel each other out. and net us

White = serviceable

I hope it turns out that way. I'm not thrilled over his frame. Obviously DB's don't have to be meat heads, just toothpick legs and small frame as a whole is what concerns me.
