"Bishop isn't tough enough"

"Kincaid is too skinny"

May and June are dry times at the TSW watering hole.

On appearance alone, yeah I agree. Might be the baby face and taller build lol. On the contrary though he's actually got a similar build as other Safeties across the league - 6 foot and 200-210 lbs - so maybe it is just visual.

All that matters (as others have pointed out) is that he's quickly losing confidence from McD, and we all know how quick he is to react if he thinks you're behind/not ready. I realllllly don't want to see Hamlin starting again.

Man, is it me or does it feel like McD has pulled a lot less punches in the last 12 months?

Between these comments and the comments made about Kincaid/Coleman last year, he’s clearly trying a different tact

He can only do so much with the players he has. McD makes his fair share of mistakes, and the cardboard is rather barren.

I think Bishop is tough, but is he tough enough?  A guy like Andreesen.  You get the feeling if an anvil was dropped onto his shoulder and crushed it, he’d still suit up and practice. Because he knows if he’s not available, he will be cut from the roster.  Bishop could use a little of that mindset.

Such an unlucky start to his career.  For a guy that needed to learn a completely different defense and different roles within that defense, reps are extremely important. He's getting none.  Injured 2 years in a row, during the time specifically designed for learning.  Brutal.

I love his athleticism but until he can play free and pure read and react football, I think McD may be reluctant to put him out there over guys that might be able to play more free with less thinking.

I think he has loads of potential, similar to Josh Allen at safety (obv not as talented).  Good size and athleticism that can become great if he can figure things out mentally and physically.  What does he have inside of him?  Separates the men the boys.  Along with staying healthy.  I’m really pulling for him.  If he can play free, he’s gonna be fun to watch.

I have a hunch that Bishop isn't exactly cerebral. We really need him to pan out and stay healthy, pretty damn soon.

Could be the case, but with the injuries and so few reps, only the elite can just step out there and look like stars.  He played in a completely different system at Utah and wasn’t even available to learn.  Sometimes these things take a year or 2 to click.  Especially if he’s injured and not getting reps.

I was just going to say the same thing. Guy just does not have a F left to give.  Maybe they’ve decided to push the young guys harder.  Or maybe it’s sound bytes for Hard Knocks, LOL.

Throw in the strategic defensive coaching additions, and I think he is seeing the light and trying to evolve. As I’ve been saying, I expect smart people to continue to get better at their job with more experience.

There's a danger of him coming back too soon because of the pressure and the injury worsening. I hope McDermott knows what's up with the injury and isn't just venting his frustration. We can afford to do that, he can't.

Steve Tasker looked like a choir boy and he was a psychopath on the field

John Lynch was also a movie star and was vicious...  Troy Polamalu does hair commercials for crissakes lol... Chuck Cecil had that prn stache going on...  Ronnie Lott was a good lookin guy as far as guys go LOL...  ok seriously, I dont see him as unwilling or not violent enough... but I am concerned 2nd year in a row he is missing camp time... seems like he is back today... let see how the season goes... but we need and I mean critically need someone better than Damar in that spot.

Take Spender Brown - clean cut, but a real bastard from day one.  Wanted to put defenders though the turf.  Was always obvious.  Same for our extra-lineman dude whose name I forget at the moment.  Mean.

Alec Anderson I think you mean

I don’t doubt he’s trying to get better. But I also heard a story about running other coverages more when they drafted Kaiir.

We’ll see if he succeeds.

Agree with the second part, but you have to admit Tasker looked like a choirboy in a kind of psychopathic way -- still does.  Like Lenny Dykstra (who looked innocent when very young).  Plus, my man Tasker played with unbridled aggression from the first play I ever saw of his.  Dude was just a baller, and I am sincerely hopeful that is in Cole.  I want to see it.  In the NFL. Let's go Cole!  I think he is a key for the D - a fact that is noted, but I think underrated.

There was one play hoping someone can find or rememeber.  I was in NYC (actually New Jersey)  watching the Bills dont recall Jets or Giants, Tasker is the punt returner,  as he was catching the ball he gets walloped.  Now that would be an easy penalty but not back then.  Not only did he not fumble he immediately popped back one, one of the toughest player reaction I had ever seen, like Moorman reaction after the Sean Taylor hit in the Pro Bowl.  Those were the days.
