Apparently its serious. Life threating injuries to the passenger. Elway was driving. His friend is on life support.

Had a buddy years ago break his neck in a golf cart accident, while we were at a work event.  The bar to operating those should probably be a little higher

How awful.  According to that report the guy fell “off the back of a moving cart” after Elway, he, and their wives had attended a party earlier.

 

I’ll say what we’re all thinking — alcohol.  I really hope that’s not the case.

My dad fell off a golf cart and tore his rotator cuff. Had a neighbor growing up that broke his back falling off a golf cart.

Not speculating about this accident, but its kind of common knowledge in Denver that Elway is a big drinker. Maybe too big.

The article say that it wasn’t negligent operation 

 

sounds like it’s very possibly the terrifying freak accident of banging your head on cement when you fall and just having terrible luck.

All the golf carts I’ve ever been on don’t have seatbelts. That should change.

His friend and former agent passed away from his injuries.

Remember that fad of kids driving carts into guys swinging? I always wondered if anyone got killed doing that.

Kids zoom around our neighborhood in them

all the time. 10-12 year olds driving with all their friends piled on. Will be 0% surprised to eventually hear of a bad accident.

Our old neighborhood in Florida does a HUGE Halloween event, and people often traveled around in golf carts, either borrowed from the club or their own personal carts. One kid ran over another kid and broke his leg. New rule: You had to have a license or be of a certain age. Our son wasn’t old enough, but we pointed out how serious it was, then told him he can still use it. Be responsible, which he is, and we will take our chances. 

 

There was a firm rule that he was the only one allowed to drive the cart, as most kids that age really are idiots. So my son is driving around with a couple friends (it was a 4 passenger cart, not for golf) and one kid knocks my son’s hat off. He stops the cart to go back for his hat, and the kid jumps into the drivers seat and takes off. He’s looking back at by son laughing as he races away…..straight into an oak tree causing about $500 damage to the cart. Fortunately, nobody was badly hurt. 

 

It’s VERY easy to have something serious go wrong, especially if kids or alcohol are involved. What a horrible tragedy.

If that’s the case, which we all know golf is like boating.. pretty much everyone is drinking… I wonder if he would be charged with DWI or something like that. Sad story.

More than a DWI. He could be looking at Vehicular Homicide since his friend passed away from this.

That’s easy to have happen, but you’d hope the guy would just hurt his wrist or something. I don’t know what happened, but it feels like some freaky bad luck is involved. So sad, but stuff happens. I just hope it wasn’t because of stupidity.

Happens near me all the time.  I work at a country club and most of the golfers have their own carts.

I have a non golf golf cart, just got it... great little vehicle, but it isnt a toy it is a vehicle that goes over 30 Mph, so easy to mess up... But in this instance like when they are saying fell off the back.... it sounds like he is standing on the golf bag holders and fell backwards and hit his head...  if he was seated in the back like a 4 seater... I just cant picture it unless the cart tipped... anyway it doesnt matter what I can picture or not..  I am sure there is going to more to come regarding this...   either way I hope this man recovers.
