What Changes Would You Expect If Steelers Win?

Recommended Posts

It looks like hardly anyone is giving the Steelers any shot at beating us, which is understandable and likely accurate. However, we have suffered humiliating losses to far lesser teams way too many times before. Anything is possible and Tomlin is going to have his team as prepared as is possible.

That said, if the Steelers were to somehow knock us out, what happens to this team going forward? Is McD safe because of his performance over the last 6 games? Do assistant coaches get the axe? Is Brady the really the answer? Which players do we finally move on from?

All the love for McD/Brady that has accumulated over the past 5 weeks would immediately go down the toilet.

Edit: I wouldn't expect any changes.

Steelers are winning this game from their defense and the defense alone. Najee and Warren have been running well at times this year but it’s been against some cold/bad teams.

This Bills team, even with this subpar games, have been red hot the last 6 games.

Rudolph and Mitch are just as rough as Pickett.

Well if we lose its due to one of these:

1) Offense stinks - We need a new OC and coaching staff on that side of the ball for starters. We need a few WR's. Take a close look at Morse and how much he has in the tank. Tank a close look at RT (Spencer Brown).

2) Defense Stinks - McD is coming back. But we need a DC and help in that coaching room. We have a lot of positions that may need replacements due to age and contract status.

3) Special Teams Kill Us - This should not be enough to lose but added with either of the above. New ST coach may already be a no-brainer- not sure the late season improvements are enough.

4) Horrible in game management across the board - I still think McD is safe but if its that embarrassing maybe this does him in.

I actually give the Steelers a punchers chance (probably because of my PTSD lingering from the Bengals playoff snow game when i drove up 500 miles last minute with my son only to see that whooping in person).

But anyway, I'd think about canning McD even though at this moment is seems irrational and knee jerk.

If we lose at home again to a 3rd string qb and a Steeler team without TJ, all the goodwill McD received after the Dunne piece will disappear.

Depends on how it's lost.

-If it's something like "13 seconds" collapse, McDermott will be on the hot seat, no doubt.

-If Allen turns it over multiple times again & costs us the game, Bills fans might look to deflect on someone else & find a scapegoat, but fans of other teams & the media will rake him over the coals.

-If the offense is competent, puts up points, protects the football, and the defense can't stop anybody, McDermott will again receive the bulk of the blame.

-If the team comes out flat, receivers dropping passes, players turning it over aside from Allen, tons of penalties, etc. it'll be a lot of "Allen needs help!" from the fans & media.

-If it's a relatively good game but with notable missed opportunities (like a failed 4th & 1), a large discrepancy in run/pass plays, or just playing stagnant for long stretches, you'll hear calls for a Brady replacement.

Oh, almost forgot the easiest one! If we lose due to missed FG's, Tyler Bass will be on the street ASAP 😅

My main complaint (if this happens) would be how they seem to play up and down to their opponent.
like an example for me this week will be Watt is out. All we are hearing is how great that will be, so I expect that there will still be a ton of pressure on Josh and we'll see the Oline get eaten up.
not saying we'll lose. It just seems to jinx us when we are told why we "should destroy" another team.

Im guessing nothing. 4 AFCE championships in a row has to count for something. As frustrating as that may sound.

It counts for this team coming up short of expectations, once again

Celebrating winning the division in the final week of the season is weak sauce

I expect more, and I certainly don't think a home playoff loss in the wild card round should mean this team should stay the course

Maybe… but doubt that matters much with the only guy that counts  .,

I agree. Not saying that this is my vote. I was at that bangles game last year. Believe me it sucked and made me not expect anything different until I see it.

I don't think they are kicking many fgs in 40 mph winds and 50 mph gusts.
