  1. 1. Who is the best Bills cornerback of all time?

The initial.list did not mention Robert James. If you are old enough to rembwr him, he was a great bump and run corner who suffered a knew injury that he vould t fully recover from. Played 6 seasons in which he was all-pro in 72, 73 and 74

During my lifetime (Odomes+) it was definitely Winfield as a player throughout his career, but you might have to give the nod to Clements as a Bill due to his additional year here.

Robert James, then Butch Byrd... Hands down.

In terms of how good they turned out to be, probably Gilmore or Winfield. Unfortunately, they went on to have their best years on other teams, but were still great players while they were here.

If it weren't for injuries, Tre would already be up there. He was an All Pro after year 3, made a Pro Bowl the next year, and was probably on pace for another in 2022 before the injury.

Yep. And it really isn’t all that close.

I think Tre White is the only Bills CB to be a first team All Pro.

Byrd had impressive accolades as well, but most people would probably think it was a Jarius Byrd jersey (who was also a great DB for the Bills before his injuries).

Nope, that would be Robert James. 1st team All Pro in both 1973 and 1974 seasons.

Robert James was by far the Bills' best cornerback (and one of the best defensive players) ever. Who knows where he'd be on the list of all-time NFL greats if he hadn't suffered a terrible injury in a meaningless preseason game.

Had his career maintained it’s trajectory before the knee injury, I’ll tell you where he’d be: in the HOF as a first ballot inductee. He was a shutdown before anyone knew what that was and he made a habit of shutting down HOF receivers.

Derrick Burroughs was rapidly ascending to lockdown stature before his career ending injury in 1989. If he stayed healthy Bills could have picked a first round NT in 1990 instead of JD Williams.

Damn near knocked Tim McGee out with his helmet on.  Punched him right in the helmet.
