Carolina gave away a lot for a so so QB.

None of this class of QBs are likely franchise. Perhaps serviceable to good is likely their landing spot.

I think the Bears did well. Their fans have to be happy.

its a roll of the dice you want to take. most werent exactly drooling over Hurts or Herbert.... or josh lol instinct is to say i like the bears side better but teams have been wrong about this kinda thing a lot

2 - 1 = 1 huh?  is that pick this year or next year lol

Stroud

I can't say that I'm a guru QB scout. I've watched Stroud play about 5 to 6 times. He really didn't impress me.

Folks here with more knowledge could maybe give some insight on his future?

Is he really top pick worthy?

The total trade package for the 1st pick was 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and Moore.  It's simple.

It's telling that you had to edit that. 😂

So if the Bills traded Josh Allen for Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry all they got in trade was Derrick Henry?

The #1 overall pick and #9 pick have very different values...........that's not an exchange of equal value, obviously.

This is why there are trade value charts.

Most importantly the Titans don't get anything. 😆

I think a team making a move like that has to take a player with the potential for greatness. Stroud may hit or he may not, but you can’t do something like this for a Bryce Young. His ceiling is what? Kirk Cousins? Also I don’t think you have to move to 1 for Levi’s or Richardson. No one left for it to be but Stroud.

You don’t think Richardson has potential to be a good passer? I’m shocked! There’s only one way to handle this, I challenge you to a saxophone battle!

JaMarcus Russell had the potential to be a good passer too.

The mere thought of Richardson going 1st is insanity.  The dude was average at best in college, and well below average when they played power 5 competition.  He has the potential, but who trades that haul for a guy who MAY be good, or equally could be the worst QB taken in the 1st round.

It has to be Stroud or Young, and Stroud scares me too.  He is the best pure QB in the draft but he just doesn't seem to have any fire to him at all.

On the Carolina forum, in addition to going after OBJ and Hopkins, they are also talking about possibly getting Adam Thielen and Quentin Johnston with the 39th pic to give their new QB some weapons. Ok, we'll see, lol.

Also, made me laugh:

This is why you never choose a username of a current player on your team (or buy their jersey...after Terrell Owens left Philadelphia, I saw his authentic NFL jersey on sale the next day for $0.99 at Sports Authority. I actually bought one to do my oil changes in).

Anthony Richardson is a lot like Josh Allen as far as what he can do as a runner. He’s tall, he’s well built, he’s physical, he’s a load to bring down.

Would I trade multiple first round picks to move up and get him? NO. But if I’m a team picking in the top 10, I would take him in a heartbeat.

Basically Anthony Richardson is an extremely nice project if you’re a team that is patient and willing to develop a QB. He has a big arm and if he develops as a passer he’s easily in the upper echelon of starting QBs in the NFL.

Is he JaMarcus Russell? Or is he Josh Allen? Only time will tell.

Bears traded the #1 pick to the panthers!! I love it

Bears get:

DJ Moore
#9 pick this year
2nd rounder this year
Next years 1st rounder
2025 2nd rounder

and Panthers get their franchise QB

Good trade for both sides.

if I were the bears I would’ve traded Fields and drafted Young. You get a couple more years of a cheap franchise QB who is a better passer than Fields but I get it. I think this was the perfect trade for both sides since the bears were staying with fields.

Panthers could easily win the division as soon as this year with Reich and mccown having a clean slate leading Young or even Stroud.

Hopefully more of these young QBs start heading to the NFC from now on

Not me.  Give Fields one more year and if he sucks you'll likely have two picks in the top 10 in a better quarterback class.  You'll also have plenty of draft capital and salary cap space to surround that pick with talent.

You anointed the Carlona QB draft pick a franchise QB?

Wow that's pretty bold.

I'm not super high on Fields but seeing Hurts breakout in his third year gives me some hope for him. I can see why they stuck with him. The dude is tough too.  The talent around him is nowhere near as good as what the Eagles built in support of Hurts though. But the two QB's style of play does feel similar.

The Bears reared the Panthers without Vaseline on this trade. Not sure how it's a good trade on both sides

Yup.  If you do the draft pick chart value calculation it would've been close to an even trade without DJ Moore.  The Panthers were desperate and the Bears took advantage.  If Carolina gets a franchise QB though it's a win/win trade.

I don’t love any of the QBs in this draft but I do think Young and Stroud are good enough to start day 1 in this league and with Frank Reich at the helm I trust they will only improve from where they are now. It was a good trade for them. If the raiders made this trade I’d agree they got hosed by the bears but the panthers with their coaching and the division and conference they play in made the right move.
