Allen Injury a Good Thing?

I was thinking about this too.  A player like Josh Allen hides flaws in an Offensive system, because he uses him athleticism and freakishly strong arm, to make plays that otherwise wouldn't be there.  If nothing else, Keenum running this system, even if it is only in practice,  may help the coaches see flaws that were not noticeable before. If that is the case, and I honestly don't know if it is or not, they would have to start scheming guys open, instead of relying on Allen to make something happen. Although obviously not ideal, I believe there could be some good that comes out of this.

I've been begging for a better run attack for 3 years.  If for no other reason than to keep pressure off of Josh. Unfortunately the problem is we don't have the OL to do this.

Bryce Harper played most of the season with a torn UCL and hit .400 in the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves and .500 in the NLCS against the San Diego Padres.

What harm would it do Josh to throw a football?

Maybe there is a bright side to JA17 getting injured. Never want anyone to get injured, but maybe this will force others, particularly the coaching staff, OL, and RB's to get the running game going for once.  The whole offence has totally relied on Josh for everything.  Now it's their turn tom step up and hopefully translate to a more balanced offense down the stretch.

Get well soon JA.

Except Josh got hurt in the pocket trying to make a throw.  Didn't have anything to do with our run game or Josh doing too much.  We were in a last drive situation where we had to pass no matter what.  Run game wouldn't ha changed that.

But if you are saying, that it forces to get Dorsey to use the RB's more and spread the ball around more in the near term while Josh is recovering from the injury, well that could be one silver lining.

However, there is no real bright side here IMHO.  Having the heart and soul of our team and one of the best players in the NFL have a very dangerous injury to his elbow is not worth any silver lining.  I would have rather hoped Dorsey made those adjustments off the film, not because Josh has an injury on his throwing elbow.

In fact, my biggest concern thus far on Dorsey is the fact he hasn't made the necessary adjustments in the 2nd half's of the past 2 games. I want to know he can do that on his own more than do it because he had no choice.

Bryce didn't throw 1 baseball since coming back from his injury.  He DH'd the rest of the season and playoffs. Hitting doesn't put near as much strain on your ulner nerve as throwing.

Injuries in and of themselves are never good. But I believe Josh sitting on the sideline and watching the game and reflecting about his recent struggles may lead to a wiser Josh when he returns.  Sometimes when things are going bad a break and some time off are a  good thing.

It's practically the same motion, just one is vertical and one is horizontal.

In dark times it often helps to find a silver lining in tragedy. But sometimes there isn’t one.

It isn't a good thing, at all, but we can draw positives from it if the offense adapts.

Plus, with how he has played recently— may be nice for him to watch from the sidelines for a different perspective.

No this is ridiculous. Every QB goes through bad stretches of play. You fix it by refocusing in between games and then playing. Allen is probably beating himself up over some of the easy completions he missed seeing against the Jets, he'll get his mindset right for the next game. He has never once been unable to fix a problem.

Was it a bad thing when Reich replaced Kelly and led the greatest comeback in NFL playoff history?

Allen's injury is not a good thing.  But, I agree that if Keenum starts, the Bills get the running game going, the defense returns to form (stopping the run like it did in the first few games) and beat the Vikings, at least some good will have come out of a bad situation.

The better situation is that Allen is OK, he plays, the Bills beat the Vikings, and also get more of the running game and run defense going.

You would think it would be easier to get the running game going with the threat of Allen's passing in the lineup.

There will be no fear of Keenam, and there will be 7 (or 8) in the box if we try to run all day.

Defense and ST will have to come up big too.

Why would watching a game live from the sidelines help him more than watching all-22 game footage of his own play?

Have people on this board never seen a QB go through a slump and play their way out of it? It happened to Allen himself last year a couple of times. 20 years we waited for a franchise QB, one bad game and a bunch of fans are coming up with panicky solutions.
