I've been saying it for a couple years now: it's the Horseshoe Theory of politics. The wacko left and the wacko right are converging at the open end of the horseshoe, coming from opposite directions. 1. The Rational "Do Your Own Research" Types who have convinced themselves that there is a grand conspiracy built around ritualistic child abuse and world domination of a secretive elite.

 

As opposed to:

 

2. The Irrational Nutjobs who have convinced themselves that there is a grand conspiracy built around ritualistic child abuse and world domination by a secretive elite.

 

Maybe take a step back here and try to deprogram yourself. You'll see that there is no distinction at all. There is no such thing as a Rational Q Anon Adherent just as there is no such thing as a Scientific Flat Earther. They. Are. All. Nuts. And a lot of them are dangerous.

My guess: guy breaks in. Mr. Pelosi realizes he's seen him before - maybe he's been showing up in the neighborhood and confronted Pelosi before (this is what crazy activists do), or maybe he knows of him from the guy's warped activism in Democratic Party circles in SF (which are pretty out there). Pelosi tries to talk him down. And it works for a bit. But then the cops come (alarm? someone called?) and the guy realizes it's now or never and starts attacking him with the hammer.

What conspiracy are you implying I scripted up, Tiny Dancer?  I commented on a report that suggested something other than what was reported later.  I suggested that it was an odd fact pattern, which it was.

You’re missing the point imo. 
 

Your characterization of fringe element nutjobs is fair, though I see it as less of a horseshoe and more of a closed loop.  I see very little difference between an anarchist of the left looking to disrupt/destroy/tear down than I do someone on the right doing the same.  They are the same people. 
 

The important issue is how these people are leveraged for political gain.  On a very local level, @Sundancer creating a narrative that people are creating or fomenting conspiracies when discussing the odd fact pattern initially offered in reporting last night.  Now, while he was way ahead of himself on that issue—and apparently was completely comfortable with the narrative you offered about Pelosi meeting/knowing/seeing his attacker around town—it’s entirely possible he was concerned that my post may have reached and influenced my ones of followers and the 5-13 regular posters here.  Or, it’s possible he was seeking some version of moral high ground populated by the perpetually unimaginative. 
 

On a much larger and more important scale, look at the response.  Biden tying this attack by this obviously deranged individual to Republican voters is repugnant.  There are crazies all over the place, people being pushed into oncoming trains, people sucker punching others, and a nightly dose of Dateline NBC reveals some horrendous stuff goes on in the world. 
 

It is deliberate, intentional and divisive with purpose.  This isn’t a case of political violence regardless of whether or not this guy is found with a ticket to the next Trump rally or not. 
 

He’s not the only one, of course, but he is the latest.   Why?  Well, like stolen election allegations and the like, it works.
