We lost Beas and McKenzie ain’t his replacement. I thought he could do it and was  big supporter of the change but somethings missing there. Negative plays kind of haunt him. He cost us some points today in the biggest game of the year.

I lose a little respect for people that give a guy like McKenzie an insulting label like "Lil' Dummy". Does he not work hard? Is he not talented enough to make an NFL roster in multiple seasons? Is he a disruptive presence in the locker room? Yes he's been playing poorly and his future is uncertain, but why the disrespect? I could see it if he wasn't making the effort, but that's not the case. He's not making a fool of himself online like so many others have done. He's not trying to blame someone else so he's being a man about it.

 

By the way, the pass from Allen was well behind him. Maybe he should anticipated that and 'sat down'? The responsibility for the fumble is questionable, but it looked like #6 should have turned sooner. Maybe that's the way they practiced it and the lateral was an instant too soon. In any case, Isiah played poorly, yet deserves both criticism and respect. Those 2 things are not mutually exclusive.

Agreed. If he is playing poorly it’s really on MCD or Dorsey to put someone else in (Shakir?).  It’s not like McKenzie is a slacker.

It’s pretty over the top disrespectful,  I don’t see any reason to shade a player so badly on a team you are a fan of. He’s been a great kid who has busted his butt and stepped up in the past when called upon. 

That said he was very effective as a change of pace gadget player and the team would probably be better suited if he returned to a reduced role. Shakir has earned more snaps

McDermott wisely benched him last year and Lil' Dummy took shots on his TV show at McDermott for that........and later took shots at the coaching staff after the season with regard to the controversial end of the AFC divisional game........he's fortunate that he even got invited back.   Hopefully some "inactives" are in his near future.

I agree that Shakir should get more playing time (he's going to turn into a stud at some point in his career). And I don't know what McKenzie was doing on the missed TD pass (some weird stutter-step hop/mistiming it)? (To be fair, I have to go back and look again at the pass itself to see if he was trying to adjust to it---if the pass wasn't great...but still feels like it should have been an easy TD.)

 

But, I think I put the fumble on Allen. To me it looks like the decision on that play was at the mesh point. Either Josh hands it off to Isiah or he keeps it. Josh kept it, so at that point I believe Isiah is either going out to block and/or appear as if he is going into a receiving pattern. But when Josh turned upfield, there were three KC linemen waiting for him. He realizes he made the wrong choice and tries to flip it to McKenzie, who clearly is not expecting it. I don't think it was meant to be a sweeping option play, where Josh is the main runner and Isiah trails, waiting for the ball if Josh gets in trouble. You can see Josh cut upfield immediately, he is not sweeping outside. I could be wrong, but I think in the heat of the moment, Josh just tried to make a play...it wasn't McKenzie screwing up a called play. Tough to tell though when we don't know their full assignments on the play.

 

And the play that McKenzie got blown up on...well, how can anyone blame him for not hanging onto that ball. Again, Josh kind of hung him out to dry on that play.

 

So, no doubt, a game that McKenzie will want to forget...but I only really ding him for not reeling in the TD pass. And that happens even to the really good receivers sometimes (Diggs just missed one recently). All this talk of cutting him, etc. is just overreaction. I guarantee you that Isiah will still make some important plays for this team this year.

Cook is as yet unproven either way.    McKenzie is a proven turnover machine/drive killer.    That's why the Broncos released him in the first place.........he had double digit special teams fumbles in one regular and two preseasons combined.    If he's anything more than your 6th or 7th receiver option then you have a need for an upgrade to your receiving corps.

McKenzie had a very, very, bad, bad day.  I don't know that McDermott is ready to take the starting slot receiver position away from him yet, but he's got to start focusing a lot more and needs to elevate his play, or Shakir will get his opportunity to start.  I actually hope McKenzie comes around because I want to see Shakir develop both as an outside receiver and a slot guy.  I think if he has to focus too much on the slot, his development on the outside will be hampered.

They took them out last season.  I dont know why.  It got stopped a couple times but big deal.  They ran a lot of different stuff off that motion and they worked great overall.  Never understood why they took them out.

He tripped trying to stop his route to catch the ball because it was behind.  I said he should have still caught it but that doesnt change the fact the ball being behind is why.
