The ref does not react to the elbow; he reacts to whatever Epenesa says to him. I deleted my post. I watched the Cardinals incident last week and it was innocuous contact with Hussey so I think the ejection was coming regardless of what Epenesa said. I’m sure that he’s going to tell his other Dentist buddies at the golf course ALLLLL about it today. “I don’t care that you’re 6’4” 255lbs, pal. I says to him, you’re on my field now Mr.” All jokes aside, it’s good to see a ref take control of a potentially volatile situation. After the Pickett hit, it looked like there was going to be real trouble in this game. The problem is the Ref did not take control - just like last week in their game. This crew allowed both games to get out of hand and then this particular Ref gets involved in the action. The players have a level of responsibility, but the Refs are supposed to be above that and in this case the Ref put his hands on a player and then was angry when said player retaliated. Then the Ref lost his cool and got in the face of the player. I’ve not seen the ejection from the previous weeks game Hussey did, but it appears to me that he’s going around looking for an opportunity to become the headline. Epenesa had his back to no lip and reacted to hands being put on him during a scrum. Pretty much any human would have done the same thing. Hussey is one of my least favorite refs due to the amount of penalties his crew also seem to call. If you don't want to be touched, don't put your hands on someone else. I replayed it and didn't see much of anything really No contact with refs of course. But from the video I saw it was hard to tell what set Hussey off not much of a "touch" if you ask me. Also, refs get elbowed all the time in scrums, but they recognize that it happens. It wasn't a swing for Hussey. Hussey initiated the contact and should expect a human reaction of elbowing back in the "get off me" style. That's expected and happens in every scrum. He made contact with an official, probably thought it was a Steelers player but he go booted and from as far as I can tell it had no affect on the game nor will it affect future games. That kind of thing will cost us against KC. Epenesa also needs to be careful, that can give him a reputation among the ref community & them flagging him early & often for everything.
