I can hardly wait for the preseason game where Darnold has a good couple of quarters, and the board erupts into 'Darnold as #1 QB' threads. 🙄

I'll hang up and listen.  Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large groups. 😁

Trubisky looked damn good against the Bears last year.

I don't think the Panthers are going to cut Darnold.  Why would they?  They owe him $18.9M fully guaranteed if they cut him, or if they don't.  The Giants actually had a reasonable offense under McAdoo as OC, so why wouldn't they see if McAdoo can get them something for their $$ (unless some team wants to trade him, under a 'Panthers keep part of his salary' deal)

I can see a trade occurring if two teams are both in same situation stuck with a player and are willing to take a chance with other team's trouble.

Do you think it’s more likely that he re-signs with us than going somewhere where he has a chance to start?

Tribusky should get opportunity to compete;  sort of like Tannehill did when he went to Nashville.

I can see him take a flyer with the Giants,  Washington,Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Indy etc

For clarity, this is based off absolutely nothing besides their known relationship and assumed cuts.

If Sam Darnold gets cut by the Panthers and Fitz doesn't want to come back (my personal hope), how would you feel about the Bills bringing in Darnold as Josh's back-up.  They are known to be great friends and train together with Palmer.  I can't imagine that anyone is going to pay Darnold much of anything on his next contract after being given the keys to the kingdom twice.

Now, I haven't really seen anything of Darnold to believe he can turn his career around, but he does have the proper tools.  He was mentally broken for the Jets and a few years of building his confidence back up could be helpful.  Also, in spot Duty, maybe he could put some games together.

On a side note, think of the fact that we could have Rosen, Josh, and Darnold all on this roster together if we really wanted to.  Hell, even Baker after this season.  It's crazy how that all turned out.

**Edit - His contract is guaranteed this season.  So this wouldn't be until 2023, which makes it all very doubtful

I’ll bet you 10 dollars Fitz comes back and finishes is career in Buffalo

If Darnold was available to us in the 3-5 mil range, I would bring him into camp to compete for the back-up job. I would also bring in Josh Rosen with the same salary parameters.

Rosen was playing for league minimum last year (after getting paid his guarantees by a team he wasn't on).  He got benched in garbage time & you want to hand him $3-5 million.  What are you thinking wanting to sign Rosen for $3+ million?

I think Jay Rosen DESERVES $3 million since he will give me 1%.

Oh Josh Rosen! I would not sign him to Practice Squad.

He wouldn't be my first choice, but I would be fine with it. He does have talent. He is actually a pretty good runner. He is just horrible at protecting the football. That has always been his problem.

But maybe if he came and had a good environment and good coaching he could turn it around. He has had good games in the NFL.

I can see Darnold, but why in the world would you bring in Rosen? He has shown absolutely nothing positive in the NFL. At least Darnold has put together decent stretches in his career.

This position is not high on my list of priorities, but My list:

1. Trubisky if we can. That would be my #1 choice

2. Kyle Allen - Highly athletic guy with upside. Washington brought him in to

be a long term back up to Dwayne Haskins. Allen is a good guy to have around Josh as they train together in the offseason so they speak the same language. Kyle is an RFA who maybe Washington tenders, but it won’t be a high tender. Probably not going to get a chance to start anywhere.
3. Jacoby Brissett - I know some people really don’t like him for some reason, but he is familiar with the offense and has proven he can win NFL games. Smart guy, good size, good athlete. I am guessing he tries to go to a place where he has a chance to compete.
4. Blaine Gabbert - I know, I know. He’s a good dude who has been around forever but somehow just 32 years old. He has seen a lot of things and has been an understudy to Brady for the last two years. Extremely intelligent player who essentially had the Sam Darnold career, start too early and had 8 OCs in 8 years. Maybe he gets a shot to start in Tampa, but to me he is ideal backup material. Gabbert was also in the same QB room with Jordan Palmer for awhile

in Jacksonville.

After that it’s probably Dalton or Colt McCoy. If I were a betting man, I’d say Kyle Allen gets here somehow on like a 3 year deal to be Josh’s backup.

The guy that couldn’t beat out Lionel Richie for a starting job?

All jokes aside, Lionel Richie is an amazing duel threat QB. First he stands in the pocket and says "Hello, is it me you're looking for?", next thing you know the guy's Dancing on the Ceiling.

And when he's on prime time games, working the Night Shift...he makes it look so Easy the way he torches DBs All Night Long.
