yes desantis, please dont force the dems to confront the issue. let them continue to ignore it so tragedies and trafficking can escalate further. how can they virtue signal if they are hypocrits? 🙄

Got our first referral to DOJ for human trafficking:

McGovern also calling this illegal:

In a statement to MassLive, U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern said he agreed that the “campaign stunt” could rise to the level of violating the law.

“Using taxpayer money to ship vulnerable people across the country under false pretenses is not just a campaign stunt—it appears to be human trafficking. It also looks like he illegally used Florida’s COVID relief money to run this operation. These are major violations of federal law that should be investigated,” McGovern said.

Some of the false pretense documents are also coming out:

Immigration lawyers are also working on getting these people visas since they may be victims of crimes:

Susan Church, an immigration lawyer based in Cambridge, told the Boston Globe a legal team is working with advocacy groups to interview the migrants and determine whether they are eligible for visas for victims of crimes.

“They were duped in to getting onto the plane,” said Church, former chair of the New England Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. “This is akin to kidnapping.”

News I’m has challenged DeSantis to a debate. DeSantis was trying everything go get out of debating Crist. So when he comes up with an excuse for this one, I think the thread title should get changed to DeChicken:

DeSantis will debate Crist in West Palm Beach, or do you think he should agree to a "debate" where the host will lie to assist his opponent like in 2018? many people don't realize we were only a few percent of votes away from having a different governor and it was close only because the debates where slanted so heavily in Gillums favor.

Oh really?

What did Trump’s own Homeland Security tell us?

DHS: White supremacists present the gravest terror threat to the United States

Ah, feelz.  Of course you feel good about it, you don't have any idea what you are talking about.  Here is a link to murders by illegal immigrants skyrocketing under Biden:

https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp-enforcement-statistics/criminal-noncitizen-statistics

And that was Trumps DHS.  Now that Biden opened the southern border, I think the DHS would probably sing a different tune if they were allowed to speak honestly.

It’s like you just woke up to the ongoing humanitarian crisis at the southern border.  Where have you been?

In that regard, it seems that the move is a net positive.  Too many people, well-intentioned or otherwise, look away when the immigration issue is raised.

The outrage over kids in cages, for example,  ebbs and flows based on who is in office.   The concern over the incredibly perilous journey, and the discussion in who lives, who dies and who might be victimized is big news when one administration is in office, not so much when the another admin takes over.

If your choice is to pretend this politicization is only relevant today, you’re part of the problem.  If you choose not to look at the obvious, sustained and decades long complicity of people like Biden, Harris, Schumer, McConnell, the late John McCain etc, you’re a major contributor to it.

It's your argument, you silly goose. You said that you are more likely to get murdered by a domestic terrorist than an illegal immigrant,, and I asked for proof.  All I was able to find is that murders by illegals are up like 2000% since Biden got into office.  You want to get your own answer?  Look it up yourself, comrade!

Contrary to public perception, we observe considerably lower felony arrest rates among undocumented immigrants compared to legal immigrants and native-born US citizens and find no evidence that undocumented criminality has increased in recent years. Our findings help us understand why the most aggressive immigrant removal programs have not delivered on their crime reduction promises and are unlikely to do so in the future.

Trump is an idiot but I'm not asking what he said, I'm asking you to back up your own claim.   Which link has the domestic terrorist stats?  Lets have a real conversation about it, no stupid memes.  My guess is that you could probably prove either is true based on you definition of domestic terrorism.

Don’t know why y’all righties have such terrible reading comprehension skills. This thread is about DeSantis. My point was like how he was chickening out in debating Crist he won’t accept Newsoms challenge. Therefore we should retitle the thread to DeChicken.

You brought up something to with Crist/Fried debate. Since neither person are DeSantis, that discussion would be better in a thread about that topic.

Lets keep this on DeChicken.

1. Will he debate Newsom or is he too much of a chicken?

2. Now that the people he kidnapped in Texas and flew to MA have came out and said they were lied to about where they were going, the benefits they’d get for going and generally everything, will DOJ press charges against DeSantis?

3. Since DeSantis spent Florida money in violation of Florida law that was meant to expel people from FL, not TX, for a political stunt, will Florida bring charges against DeSantis?

1) no- governor's don't debate other governors, only an idiot thinks it will happen. DeSantis will debate Crist in West Palm Beach in October.

2)the people sent to Martha vineyard were happy to go and they were told the Boston area, which is where they are.

3) he did not break any law, most Florida Democrats voted for the law that he used to send them also.

Do you seriously believe everything you read without any thought?

1. There is nothing against the law or any reason governors cannot debate governors. Newsom threw out the challenge. DeSantis can accept or hide away in fear.

2. Even if you want to say Martha’s Vineyard is Boston, it’s not.  It is 2.5 hours away. That’s like saying Cleveland and Buffalo are the same place (3 hours away).

They also didn’t believe that: “

Edgartown Police Chief Bruce McNamee said many of the migrants were confused.

"We have talked to a number of people who've asked, 'Where am I?' And then I was trying to explain where Martha's Vineyard is."”  https://www.npr.org/2022/09/15/1123109768/migrants-sent-to-marthas-vineyard

They were still told they would have housing, expiated reviews and jobs. None were there. They were lied to. ““They were told they were going to be met here with jobs and housing. Some were told that they were going to different cities all over the country. At least one individual thought they were going to New York and some thought there were going to immigration appointments,” Fernandes said.” https://www.newsnationnow.com/us-news/immigration/desantis-puts-migrants-on-flight-to-marthas-vineyard/

3. Florida Democrats don’t agree that he didn’t break the law.

The law states they need to come from Florida. You are probably geographically challenged,  but Texas and Florida are not the same state.

Book-FDOT-Letter-DeSantis-1205x1536.jpg

The answer to question 2, please provide authority or legal opinion that was used to permit state funds to be expended in transporting people from Texas, as the plain reading of HB5001 clearly authorized only “unauthorized aliens from this state.”

Would you care to answer question 2 as that is the same question I posed that you miserably failed to comprehend or answer?

To question one, thank you for proving you are an idiot, since you clearly expect DeSantis to care what Newsome says.

For question two, you apparently believe that Tampa is not part of Florida, and the plane definitely was in Tampa before it went to MV.

Lastly you only quote politicians, you can find a few actual interviews online of the people who were on the plane and if you translate what they said they are happy with where they landed.

I will again recommend you let this die, I am not pleased with DeSantis about it but it was legal and it was a political stunt that makes liberals look worse the more they protest

they were sent to one of the wealthiest communities in the country that designated itself a sanctuary city. Why couldn’t they be offered jobs and housing? Dems need to explain this. Or do they not want migrants working in their nice 98 percent white community?

Another person who doesn’t get basic facts, just great.

Marthas Vineyard is not a sanctuary city. MA has 8. They are Amherst, Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, Concord, Newton, Northampton, and Somerville.

Plus, it wasn’t MV saying they have jobs, expedited reviews and housing. It was DeSantis.

Please for the love of God, read, and educate yourself before posting.
