These reusable tote bags can sustain the COVID-19 and flu viruses — and spread the viruses throughout the store. Researchers have been warning for years about the risks of these bags spreading deadly viral and bacterial diseases, but public officials have ignored their concerns, determined to eliminate single-use bags and other plastic products despite their obvious advantages in reducing the spread of pathogens. In New York state, a new law took effect this month banning single-use plastic bags in most retail businesses, and this week Democratic state legislators advanced a bill that would force coffee shops to accept consumers’ reusable cups — a practice that Starbucks and other chains have wisely suspended to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus. John Flanagan, the Republican leader of the New York state Senate, has criticized the new legislation and called for a suspension of the law banning plastic bags. “Senate Democrats’ desperate need to be green is unclean during the coronavirus outbreak,” he said Tuesday, but so far he’s been a lonely voice among public officials. row_33
The only one of 14 at an accounting firm office today, we have the option of taking work home, a new matter required me to come in to pick up the work, but I'd rather come in off and on the rest of the month. I figure I've had at least 12 exposures riding the subway and working downtown since December right through February, the masks started appearing the first week of January. A bit more than usual for the routine flu/pneumonia season. Take care all, if you don't feel well enjoy some time at home, be kinder than usual... Citing three unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports that the cyberattack aimed to slow down HHS computer systems Sunday night, but were unsuccessful in doing so. The attack reportedly attempted to flood HHS servers with millions of requests over the course of several hours. Following the attempted intrusion, federal officials reportedly became aware that false information was being circulated. The false information campaigns were reportedly related to the hack, but no data was reportedly stolen from HHS systems. The National Security Council tweeted Sunday night that there were false rumors circulating about a potential national quarantine, calling the rumors "#FAKE." No, I was replying to the issue of the differences between Dem and Repub expectations on the future path of this outbreak. I think the reason they differ so much is due to the information sources used by each group. Denying reality worked for a long time for Trump and for Fox viewers and they won't turn away from those sources so quickly in spite of the unfolding facts. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday during a press call on the fast-spreading COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. The states will prohibit crowds of 50 or more, including private parties. Restaurants, bars, gyms and movie theaters will need to close by 8 p.m. on Monday. Casinos, other than tribal casinos, will also need to close. Restaurants that can serve take out food will be allowed to continue doing so, governors Cuomo, Ned Lamont of Connecticut and Phil Murphy of New Jersey announced in a joint press call. The rules are in effect “until further notice,” Murphy said. The federal government has “been behind from day one on this crisis,” Cuomo said. “States, frankly, don’t have the capacity or the power to make up for the federal government.” He called on U.S. officials to coordinate closings across the country, saying state and local leaders have adopted a “hodge podge” of different actions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday urged people across the U.S. to cancel or postpone events with 50 or more attendees for the next eight weeks to try to contain the fast-moving coronavirus pandemic.
