Allen slammed on ESPN

Right. Anyone who has ever listened to him shouldn't be surprised.

My favorite line from one of the other idiots: "If Duck Hodges hadn't thrown all those interceptions, he would have had a better day than Allen"  LMFAO...

Well, you know what they say about opinions....

They would just respond with the same stale line "you dont get the show" that they always do  and say it was tongue in cheek  when they get called out. The Lebatard show is a mess. The spend half the time goofing around like buffoons and the other half attempting to be taken seriously on social issues.

Josh Allen needs to be better. You can’t keep putting up terrible completion games while throwing under 200 yards and expect people to think you’re a good quarterback. This defense and coaching staff is great. Josh is the only thing that can make this team a super bowl contender. And the way he’s playing right now he is not. Be better Josh and this team can go places.

They all need to be better.

ESPN has been compromised by its extremely far left rhetoric. They probably label Josh as a racist internally because of the tweet stuff.

Network is dead to me.

Honestly, I haven't watched anything on ESPN in years. The quality of the product has just continually gotten worse

Idc if Josh has 50 yards a game passing, if those 50 yards result in 5 TDs.  Why is this one stat so important to people?

Completion percentage means more. And lately he hasn’t completed nearly enough passes. They are winning sure but not because of Allen. Tre took back an interception to the what 17 yard line and we got 3 points. That’s not going to win you a game in the playoffs.

I agree. Of course if there is a game that is only on that network I will watch it but there are many other options available as good.

As someone who listens to the DLSwS regularly (which is pretty much the show prep for Highly Questionable), this is coming out of nowhere. I enjoy the show because the format is “kind of sports, but not specifically.”

LeBatard has made his entire career on race and scandal. His bread has always been buttered on the side. So when Lamar Jackson is the presumptive MVP, he is in hog heaven berating the Bill Polians of the world and injecting subtle accusations of racism.

He’s also not a fan of the NFL. You can tell his show prep is the NFL scroll on the ESPN website.

And again, Josh Allen doesn’t fit his racial/scandal narrative. This take almost feels like a tantrum for having to discuss Buffalo in a serious way.

Certainly Josh Allen needs to be better.  He knows it.

I'm curious about one point, and not strictly addressed at you - there are several who express a similar POV.

The Bills currently lead the league in dropped passes, and those are a conservative metric - passes which could be completed with "reasonable effort".  We have small WR who are unable to haul in the "jump balls" or even the slight overthrow catches that other WR make routinely.  We have a starting TE who drops one out of five targets - 20%.  We have a much improved OL, but they either need a piece or they need to gel - our best blocking TE has a large number of false start penalties, and we're 22 in the league in sack % DESPITE a QB with good mobility and escapability.

But the focus is all on the QB - he needs to be better.

Why is that?

Daboll and McDermott both routinely say it takes 11 guys to make an offensive play.  They're not wrong.

Because at the end of the day it is on the quarterback. He has to know who he’s throwing to. Brady has thrown to nothing basically his entire career. Wentz has no one to throw to. Jimmy G before sanders got there had nothing to throw to except the tight end. Josh isn’t the only one with weird receivers to throw to. He’s just got to be better and a quicker decision maker.

On the other end of the spectrum I was listening to WFAN in NYC on Tuesday and they were taking about Josh Allen.  To summarize, they said statistically he doesn't look great but he's got that 4th qtr mentality that when the game is on the line he plays his best.  He's a winner.  He has the "it" factor.  So Winston throws for 400 yards, some TD's, plus some INT's and his team loses almost every week.  And if you look at the weekly stats teams passing for the most yards are losers most weeks.

This is what I pointed out in another thread where a certain poster keeps clamoring for a 300 yard game from Allen. I pointed out how Winston has had ten games with over 300 yards passing and three with over 400 yards... and he'll be watching the playoffs from his couch.

It ain't always pretty but it doesn't matter, a win is a win. The identity of this team is that they're going to grind it out, they're going to outwork the opponent and win as a team.

He’s had Gronk and what really good receivers? One time he had randy moss. He throws to Edelman and Wes welker amendola. These aren’t number 1 guys. They’re number 3 slot guys.

Not really.  How many balls has Josh thrown away to avoid a sack?  How many thrown away because the chance of INT too high?  These are decisions he should be praised for, because last year he played "hero ball" and got blasted.  Not to mention the high number of catchable drops by our undersized WRs.

No, the metric that matters -  besides win-loss - is total TD v. INT.  Scoring well in that metric wins games, and championships.  Josh is rocking it right now.

Totally rocking it. we are 28th in the league in passing yards a game. And 22nd in points scored. ? not good enough.

If you are going to complain about Allen's passing, shouldn't you use an example where he actually threw a pass? They ran six plays after Tre's interception - all runs (although Gore was looking to pass). Allen kept the ball once, where he ran for a first down on 3rd and 2.

Do you even watch the games?

Wonder why they didn’t pass. Hint has to do with who’s at qb. He has to be better.

Defense wins championships.  Always has, always will.  Having a QB that is clutch in the fourth quarter also helps.  We have one of those.

Honest to God, the attitude of some around here is nuts.  Allen is a work in progress.  Every single Bills fan on the planet knows he has areas to improve, but some act like he what he is, and can't get better.  Completely absurd.   And if we had the offense some want us to have, then people would complain that the defense doesn't hold up its end.

We have people on this board bashing Allen and the offense because they haven't thrown for 300 yards; one person in particular has specifically stated he' wants 300 yards because that to him is more entertaining than inning the way we're winning.  Completely absurd yet again.  we have a guy who would have traded an entire draft for Jameis Winston, who has stated he generally only comes on the board after losses so he can criticize, bashing Allen by just cherry piking stats.  again completely absurd.

This team is put together to win with a strong D, an offense including the QB that can run, and a young QB that can make clutch plays in the fourth.  As Allen develops and learns more about reading defenses pre-snap and such, undoubtedly the offense will change.  But right now, he has way more TDs than INT's, the team's record is 10-4, they are in the playoffs, and any team in the AFC right now if you ask will see them as a dangerous foe coming up.  Because professional football teams know that when you have a defense like we have, you are in position to win every time you take the field.

How about focusing on that instead of dreaming up yet more ways to bash the team and its QB?

It’s not about he can get better it’s about we are a playoff team and he must be better now. And 28th in the league in passing is garbage.
