McDermott on no trades: "There have been too many years of irresponsible decision-making, let's just put it that way."

He's done pretty well in doing his best Belichick.  This was a definite slip-up.

There was a time when I hated Belichik’s press conferences. Realizing that what he was doing was not providing an ounce of billboard material or a bit of insight into his game plans changed my whole perspective. That is 100% the way in which you handle the media sustainably. McD did slip up here and we should hope he learns from it.

I think he was just saying that for too many years decisions were made more to sate the fan base that wanted to see some kind of move for movement sake.

They were made for the marketing splash and for ticket sales rather than decisions made and action taken that were the result of sober deliberations about what could help the team succeed on the field.

I don't think that McD has the hubris to think or say that all their team decisions are right, just that if they do make a move, they want to make it for the right reasons.

I guess 5-2 is pretty mediocre...

Playoffs in year 1 and likely again in year 3

IMO, this comment displays some emotion after a tough loss, but it also conveys some sound reasoning.

I'm gonna give the guy the benefit of the doubt right now.

So he either bad-mouthed previous administrations, or Brandon Beane and himself, or both. Not sure that was necessary.

I'd imagine both, probably realized the Benjamin trade was a mistake and am leery of repeating, particularity since not a lot of draft picks this year. And too many to mention in the past.

Yeah, I think this is mostly a shot at Russ Brandon

Still 5-2

For a team they are still building and that was picked to win 6 or 7 games this year...

But, hey, keep whining if it makes you feel better....

Dick Jauron once went 13-3

I think that's fair.

5-2 don't make a season.

Nobody really knows what ANY of these guys will do ... but it wont stop the narrative, and try as you might?  It still reflects poorly on a teams decision making.  We heard forever how "We coulda had Gronk, we coulda had Rogers",and those misses were part of the failure narrative for years (Except to Torell Troup)  If Allen isn't the guy and Mahomes/Watson stay on their current trajectory?  You're gonna hear about it for years to come

Yep, a lot of whiners cant let go. Masochistic tendencies are in their DNA.

Because that is so relevant to this team, this coach, this time, etc...

Really, can't you do better than this?

Same context as introducing a mid-season record against some of the worst early stage competition in the history of the franchise.
