Great.

Iceland smokes more pot than any other country in the world....but have one of the lowest lung cancer rates in developed countries.

Can you tell me why there isn't a lung cancer epidemic in this country?

Incredibly obscure point.

You’re harshening my mellow. Yuh know for a pro weed advocate you’re kinda, well I don’t know, angry. Not even a lil bit angry but a lot angry.

I'm not a pro weed advocate for stoners.  I'm pro marijuana for medical purposes.  I find stoners, kind of annoying.  Kind of  "you spot it you got it" syndrome.  I see how horribly annoying they are and it reminds me what I used to be like in the past.  its the same with drunk people for me.  I am hypersensitive around sloppy drunk people too.  I want to punch them a lot

I get high pretty much every time I play sports.  Sometimes when I go running I am high and usually do about 3-5 miles.  Every time I go biking I am high.  I'm almost 40 and still regularly out perform people in their early 20's when I play sports with them while being high.  How many NBA'ers are high regularly during games?  A lot.  People have a lot of misconceptions about marijuana.

By this summation,  it may need to be added to the performance enhancing drug list.

Drunks are annoying for sure.     Stoners not so much.     I don’t think stoners come in a single template

They are in areas but we know tobacco causes cancer.  Most research shows weed doesn’t.

Does marijuana use cause lung cancer?

“Most research says no, but that doesn’t mean that smoking joints long-term comes without consequences.”

Im not saying inhaling smoke in your lungs is fine.  There are other issues that come with it but saying it’s an absolute carcinogen...not conclusive.

I just assume everything causes cancer these days.

You can argue that sugar is bad for you, and even that it may have carcinogenic effects, I don't know anyone who is going to say wholeheartedly that Sugar isn't bad at all... That being said, I don't think you have much room to argue that sugar is as bad, at it's root, for the human body as smoking anything...

I could argue that it’s worse.

Yep. I am saying that from 0, sugar does less damage than smoking does. Both long term and short term. Now, the issue, and what I imagine will be your counter, is that so many people consume so much sugar, that compared to smoking the effects are definitely more evident in society at large.

What I am saying is that blank slate, if somehow we said that xsmoking and xsugar is equal, then had perfectly healthy bodies consume x for so many days, smoking would cause the bigger issue sooner and over time. Our bodies are made to break down sugar- not to the quantities that we eat, but to some level- meanwhile, our bodies don't have a system for dealing with inhaled smoke.

Wrong

Yes, the large volume of sugar consumption is very bad. It is a health crisis that is more important to tackle than weed smoking, for sure. But that doesn't change the fact that smoke is toxic.

And oxygen can also be toxic.

"Over fifty known carcinogens have been identified in cannabis smoke.[36] These include nitrosamines, reactive aldehydes, and polycylic hydrocarbons, including benz[a]pyrene.[37] Marijuana smoke was listed as a cancer agent in California in 2009.[38] A study by the British Lung Foundation published in 2012 identifies cannabis smoke as a carcinogen and also finds awareness of the danger is low compared with the high awareness of the dangers of smoking tobacco particularly among younger users."

It is totally carcinogenic.

All things being equal, if you had to prescribe your NFL players painkillers / SSRI meds OR marijuana...you would tell them to use painkillers and SSRI’s?

You could, and it sounds like you want to try. But without a comprehensive study that demonstrates it, i'm happy with the reality that you're wrong and simply trying to fit your narrative. But have fun with that.

and for the second point, do tell me how you know more about lungs than the american Lung association. I wont wait because i'm done with this thread and with people who are willing to deny logical and science to excuse vices. ;)

Smoke is harmful to lung health. Whether from burning wood, tobacco or marijuana, toxins and carcinogens are released from the combustion of materials. Smoke from marijuana combustion has been shown to contain many of the same toxins, irritants and carcinogens as tobacco smoke.4-7

Oxygen is not a toxin. Doesn't mean that in some circumstances it is not bad for you. But that doesn't make it a toxin.

My guess is they smoke before they show up to the facility before a game or before they leave the team Hotel for the game.

By game time the buzz s/b all but gone

Exactly. Pre game jitters, etc. Its mostly out of the system, mostly, by the start of warm-ups. Nice and relaxed, perfectly clear headed and (in my experience) extremely focused by that point. No way was he actually "stoned" while on the field.

Hot coffee is a carcinogen....so is bacon!

True that. Yes, heavily processed meats (like Bacon) were recently added to the list of carcinogens by the World Health Organization because they have been shown to cause cancer. Didn't know about coffee, but I don't drink coffee.
