I can watch just just about any soccer game, but it’s hard for me to watch football unless it’s the Bills or the Super Bowl.

What is a legit excuse? From how I feel, and people I've spoken to, lots of people are sick of the Patriots. If you're experiences are different then say so, but don't tell me what I'm seeing and hearing is false.

The Patriots dynasty took the air out of a lot of NFL fans. Even if people don't admit it, deep down they know a lot of Pats games in particular are fixed somehow. The game is softer than it ever was, and the pregame shows are just trash with zero insight, personal stories nobody cares about, talking over each other, and fake laughter. I get excited in the offseason but I lose a lot of my passion during the season when I see how much the refs can control the game with subjective holding and PI calls, and now defensive hits. The joy and excitement isn't there anymore, at least not like it used to be. Sunday used to be like Christmas morning, not anymore. 

I would not say just the pats* but the overall feel that so many calls from officials are made based on preconcieved notions. Combined with rules that do not make sense the game is less fun then 10 years ago.

It sure as hell is .... I refuse to watch the patriots unless they're playing the Bills, which means I haven't seen the last two Super Bowls or AFC Championship games.

 

Last year the patriots were gift wrapped a number of games (I do watch highlights, especially after hearing how they were given victories) And there is no question in my mind the NFL wants to give Marcia another ring before he gets reclaimed by the aliens that put him on this planet. I won't see it when it happens and I'm fine with that.

 

It's easy to say it's not an excuse when you're a patriots fan such as yourself.

you can pretty much bank on them being the beneficiary of a few late in game pivotal new helmet rule penalties just when they need it.  Hopefully we 're far enough ahead so it doesn't matter.

Yes, but understand I would watch everything before. I don't watch NFLN or ESPN because it's unwatchable. I'll turn on the pregame with the sound way down at 12:30. I rarely watch TNF because the games are so bad. Same with MNF. Unless, of course one of my fantasy players is going. 

 

The Bills are a different story and so is the 4:15 game if it's a great match up. SNF is on to end the week.

I don't think the product is a good as it use to be.  Football use to be easy to follow and fun to watch, its prime was mid eighties to 2000.   Too many rules nowadays, rules no one can understand.  The running game is non existent for the most part for most teams and watching incomplete pass after pass or 2 yard outs is not exciting in my opinion.

Sort of. I could care less about the protests too, but I honestly think fantasy killed it for me. I'm more interested in stats for my DFS team then anything else really (outside of the Bills winning of course), so it's more like my interest mutated in probably a negative way.

Maybe you are just getting older.

 

My Fridays all year long used to be centered around going to work, coming home, cleaning up and going to the bar and running the girls.

Got up on Saturday, didn't have to go to work, had more time to rinse and repeat Friday night.

 

Now. years later I'm just not as passionate about doing that.  Still like doing that, just not as much as I use to.

Is there a betting line on that match? If so, I’m in. Seriously though, the upcoming spread of sports wagering beyond Vegas will be great news for the NFL even though they fought it. Fantasy football isn’t the same as having skin in a real game. And they’ve never created a game as conducive to wagering as football. What, you wanna bet the over on a soccer match?
